Without needing to think, Song Song made a quick decision. The looks in those people’s eyes were just too intense. If it had a physical body, it would probably have been taken apart by now.
Looking around, Yun Tutu seemed the most reliable. “Just work hard, and once you level up, there will be some rewards. You might even get a surprise.”
Yun Tutu replied, “Song Song, you’re really learning some tricks, huh? Being all cryptic like this. What kind of rewards? Just tell me straight so I can stay motivated. Sometimes, when a boss wants to encourage employees, they need to dangle a carrot in front of them.”
“If you like carrots, that’s doable,” Song Song teased.
Yun Tutu collapsed onto the bed, laughing. “I suspect you’re doing this on purpose…”
“You’re so easy to tease,” Song Song said, turning into a small puppet in front of Yun Tutu. It pointed to the screen, saying, “See this? You’re just five tasks away from leveling up. Once you do, you can choose between a ten thousand energy boost or the ability to take someone with you.”
“Can’t I have both?” Yun Tutu asked.
“No, you don’t want both. It’s important to make choices,” Song Song advised, waving its wooden finger. “You humans have a saying: you can’t have it all. But I’d suggest you save up for the upgrade. That way, I can swap out your motorcycle for a truck, which can carry as much as a small supermarket.”
“Alright, give me more tasks, then. I need to earn more points and level up,” Yun Tutu said, determined.
It seemed that without points or a higher rank, nothing would happen. Yun Tutu stopped thinking about the truck and focused on first upgrading the motorcycle to a small van. The rest could come later.
After the stress of the day, Yun Tutu fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. Meanwhile, on the other side of the villa, the lights were still burning bright.
“Increase the priority level for Yun Tutu’s tasks. We need to fully support her efforts,” Wu Haojun ordered after receiving new instructions. Even if the higher-ups hadn’t said so, he would have made arrangements.
What Yun Tutu brought back was too important, and people had already been assigned to start researching it.
“Team Leader Zhang, you should have a good talk with Yun Tutu. See if she has any needs. Her contributions this time were significant. Although she said she wanted to hand everything over, we shouldn’t take her word for it. Find out what she likes and make sure she gets it.”
Zhang Yaowen, Chen Yuxi, and Zhang Yang all agreed. After tidying up, they headed back to the villa with several large bags.
They worked in harmony, each busy with their own tasks, but their gazes kept drifting to the motorcycle parked outside the yard.
What happened yesterday had been too magical. After a sleepless night, they were still buzzing with excitement.
“Chen Jie, do you think we’ll ever have the chance to go to another world with her?” Zhang Yang asked, his eyes shining with unguarded hope.
“I hope we get the chance. Let’s ask Tutu later,” Chen Yuxi replied. She couldn’t deny she had thought about it too. Her plan was to ask directly.
“I saw in her profile that Tutu had signed up for driving school. Do you think that means the motorcycle could turn into a car?” Zhang Yang asked, excited at the idea.
Motorcycles aren’t great for carrying passengers, but a car could do the job. Just thinking about it made her giddy.
“Didn’t she only pass the first test?” Chen Yuxi recalled.
“It takes too long to go through driving school. Maybe we can pull some strings?” Zhang Yang suggested, thumping her chest. “I could teach her myself—she’d learn in a day.”
Chen Yuxi’s eyes dropped to her chest. “Maybe take it easy on the chest-thumping, or there won’t be anything left.”
Zhang Yang looked down at her flat chest. “Jie, don’t be like that.”
“No worries, I’ll cook you some papaya soup,” Chen Yuxi teased, enjoying the lighthearted moment. Working with these girls wasn’t so bad after all.
Zhang Yang blushed. “You better be serious. Should I go buy some?”
Chen Yuxi was momentarily stunned, then covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. She wanted to laugh out loud but remembered someone was still upstairs sleeping in.
Zhang Yaowen was leading a few subordinates in cleaning the house. Since hiring outside help was out of the question right now, he and his men had to do it themselves.
Why not leave it to the women?
Don’t be ridiculous—that would be even more embarrassing.
When Yun Tutu finally came downstairs, she found Zhang Yang lying on the couch, resting. The other two had gone upstairs to catch up on sleep after their sleepless night.
Hearing movement, Zhang Yang sprang up, which startled Yun Tutu.
Yun Tutu clutched her chest and asked, “Where’s Chen Jie and the others?”
“They were up all night, so they’re taking a nap. I’m here in case you need anything,” Zhang Yang explained with a yawn.
Yun Tutu followed her into the kitchen. “If that’s the case, then go get some rest. I don’t need anything; I can manage on my own.”
Zhang Yang replied, “It’s no trouble. Besides, it’s my job. We’ve already had breakfast, but we left you some congee with preserved egg and pork, and some soup dumplings. I’ll steam them for you.”
“No need, I can do it myself. You should go get some sleep—you look exhausted,” Yun Tutu insisted.
Zhang Yang rubbed her face. “I’m fine. My record is seven days and nights without sleep. This place is too comfortable; I couldn’t help myself.”
Yun Tutu looked at her thoughtfully but didn’t pry. “Want some more food? There’s plenty, and I can’t finish it all.”
Zhang Yang glanced at the food and shook her head. “I’m full. If you can’t finish, just save it. But you should eat more; you’re too skinny.”
Yun Tutu held up her arm, inspecting her not-so-thin arm. “Do you have a misunderstanding about what ‘skinny’ means? I’m 110 pounds at 5’5”. That’s not exactly thin.”
“It’s just something I picked up from the elders at home. They always say it, and now it’s stuck,” Zhang Yang said with a chuckle. “Every time I go home, that’s the first thing they say.”
Yun Tutu nodded. “I get that. Same thing happens to me when I go home…”
She suddenly remembered she hadn’t called home in a few days. Who knows if her dad had been discharged from the hospital?
“Yeah, my little brother, who’s just a few years old, even says I’m too skinny,” Yun Tutu added.
“Missing home?” Zhang Yang asked as she served the congee. “We can send someone to check on them if you want.”
Yun Tutu quickly waved her off. “No need to trouble anyone. I’ll just call home later. My dad hurt his leg recently, and I’m not sure how he’s recovering.”
