With his leg still in a cast, Yun Zhiyi couldn’t compete, so he could only look pitifully at Ye Juan and say, “You can delete it if you want, but you have to leave our daughter’s money. She sent it to help me recover.”
He had just seen his daughter’s impressive salary and thought he could buy some good supplements for the family. Otherwise, with his wife’s stingy nature, they might only get a little extra meat and nothing more.
But as soon as he spoke, a wave of scolding followed. “When has this household ever lacked food for you? And now you want nutritional supplements? Why don’t you just go to heaven!”
After her retort, Ye Juan turned to the two elderly parents, “It’s better to save up some money. That way, when something happens, we won’t panic.”
Yun Dagang and Song Xiangqing had no objections. They understood their daughter-in-law’s approach—after all, they had also suffered a lot because of their foolish son in the early years.
That’s why they never questioned how much money their daughter-in-law had saved. They knew she would ultimately use it for their grandchildren.
As for the talk about moving back to her parents’ home, they never considered it. Ever since she married their unlucky son, her parents had taken on many burdens to help out.
“Now that the child is earning money, you should also buy something to honor your parents. They’ve been good to the kids, and we shouldn’t let them feel unappreciated,” said Yun Dagang.
Ye Juan nodded in agreement. Her in-laws were sensible. If it weren’t for them, with all the reckless things Yun Zhiyi had done in the past, the family might not have held together.
However, they were still puzzled. They hadn’t heard anything about Tutu taking any public service exams, so how did she suddenly land a government job?
But the contract and work ID they had just received were real. They knew their daughter well enough to be sure she wouldn’t dare lie about something like this.
Yun Tutu managed to pass this hurdle with great difficulty. With some free time now, she threw herself into studying, learning negotiation skills, and gaining knowledge in various fields—a massive undertaking.
To support her efforts, another villa next door was set up as her classroom.
After a full day of classes, her head was spinning. She had just sat down to rest when Zhang Yang walked in with car keys in hand and asked, “Want me to teach you how to drive? I guarantee you’ll be on the road in two days.”
“Stop joking,” Yun Tutu replied weakly, slumping on the sofa. “I wouldn’t dare drive without a license. I’d end up in jail.”
“But isn’t the car supposed to be upgradeable?” Zhang Yang continued, twirling the keys and tempting her. “As long as you don’t drive around here, what difference does it make if you have a license or not, as long as you’re a good driver?”
Yun Tutu hesitated. Zhang Jie might be onto something. If the car really did upgrade, she’d disappear from here instantly. And with the protective shield provided by Singsong, she’d be invincible.
“Alright, let’s do it,” she said, suddenly energized. Yun Tutu jumped off the sofa. “But this yard is too small. Where can we practice?”
“Just follow me. We’ve got plenty of space around here.”
Zhang Yang drove her to an empty construction site. “The ground has just been leveled, so it’s a bit rough, but it’s good enough for practice.”
With a high chassis, the off-road vehicle had no trouble handling the terrain.
Under professional guidance, Yun Tutu picked up driving quickly. After just over an hour, she was driving smoothly. Zhang Yang couldn’t help but praise, “You’re steadier than most new drivers who’ve just gotten their licenses. But you’ll still need a professional coach for the test.”
Yun Tutu knew this. “Don’t worry, I won’t drive on the road without a license.”
After taking a few more laps around the construction site, she reluctantly handed the control back.
Suddenly, Songsong’s voice echoed in her mind, “Where are you playing? It’s time to get back to work.”
“Work already?” Yun Tutu glanced at Zhang Yang, who immediately understood and hit the gas, speeding off.
As she struggled to stay seated, Yun Tutu asked, “Songsong, where’s the order from?”
She was secretly hoping it would be from the disaster-stricken dimension, where she might be able to trade for more useful items.
“It’s from Liu Ziqi at the Marquis of Pingyang’s residence,” Songsong replied, sensing her excitement. “No need to rush; you’ve delivered to her twice before. But this time, the order is large, and there’s an additional request for a recipe.”
Yun Tutu wasn’t surprised. “Her maternal family is in the imperial trade. It was only a matter of time before she asked for something like this. But the best I can offer is a handmade soap recipe.”
That would be easy enough to find, and with it, Liu Ziqi could develop new markets. She’d definitely profit.
Although it wouldn’t be as valuable as the items from the apocalyptic world, cash was still cash.
Songsong sighed. “Weren’t you the one cuddling gold bars to sleep before?”
“Zhang Jie, let’s head to the mall. This order’s from that ancient dimension. She wants some cosmetics and perfumes,” Yun Tutu said.
“Alright,” Zhang Yang agreed readily. These items didn’t exist in that world before, but they might in the future.
Because of moving to a new place, Yun Tutu visited a different mall, even larger than the previous one. Yun Tutu selected several brands and bought them in bulk. She also picked up a few trinkets, which would make nice gifts or extras.
“Why don’t you take a look at these pearl necklaces?” Yun Tutu paused at a counter where the sales associate greeted her. The sight of the fine cultured pearls made her eyes light up.
In the past, pearls were precious treasures. Even these artificial pearls could fetch a significant profit if sold there.
With plenty of money in her account, Yun Tutu generously purchased a gold membership card. The discount was so good she nearly bought out the entire counter.
If Liu Ziqi didn’t want these, she could always take them to another dimension. There’d be no shortage of buyers.
Normally a tomboy, Zhang Yang was already overwhelmed by all the cosmetics and jewelry. Seeing Yun Tutu’s extravagant spending on pearl jewelry, she whispered, “I thought she just wanted cosmetics. Why buy all this?”
“We need to expand the business,” Yun Tutu said with a wink. “In business, you can’t be too predictable. You have to keep things fresh.”
