Reborn in the Interstellar World as Cannon Fodder Chapter 61

Preparations

Originally, Ye Mo hadn’t planned to sort through infant clothes, but once the nanny robots started tidying up, they managed to find dozens of high-quality baby items.

Ye Mo was quite satisfied with this, especially when it came to things like baby bottles. Now she had thirty bottles, so even if her little darling turned out to be a destructive force, there was no need to worry about running out.

She had initially intended to organize the warehouse herself but realized she couldn’t bend over anymore. There wasn’t much she could do but take a break.

The little one inside her belly just refused to come out, and she had no idea why.

She had gathered a lot of warehouses from the mortal world, and they were a mess, full of all sorts of things. Ye Mo had the nanny robots sort out the items suitable for infants and set them aside for her little one.

Though she hadn’t yet prepared a nursery in the courtyard, Ye Mo had already instructed the nanny robot to set up a playground in the space for the child.

She felt deeply connected to the baby inside her, thinking this must be the familial affection humans often talked about.

From the moment she became conscious, Ye Mo had always been alone, except for the guidance from the Old Ghost and the time Qin Lin had taken her with him. In the dark world, she had never understood emotions related to affection.

However, she felt some gratitude toward both the Old Ghost and Qin Lin. As for Mo Mo, when she first met him, it was just pure awe.

Ye Mo shook her head and glanced toward Aunt Yu, who was busy working in the valley, planting vegetables. At that moment, Aunt Yu received a call from Grandma Yu.

“Jiajia, are you ignoring your mother now?” Grandma Yu’s voice was filled with hurt. She had been staying alone in the villa these past few days, not playing cards or inviting anyone over, seemingly having lost her previous vitality.

“Mom, just stay there and rest. From now on, I’ll give you 50,000 star coins a month as living expenses. Don’t worry, I’ll always take care of you,” Aunt Yu said. She thought 50,000 was more than enough, considering that back when they lived in the civilian district, they might have spent only a few hundred star coins a month.

“Fifty thousand is not enough!” Grandma Yu’s voice shot up an octave.

Before, when Ye Mo gave her money, it was often in the millions of star coins. She had become used to spending lavishly, especially with her card games, which cost her tens of thousands of star coins a month. Now Aunt Yu was only offering her 50,000, and she couldn’t accept that.

“Where’s Ye Mo? Where did she go?” Grandma Yu suddenly thought of Ye Mo.

“Mom, after you conspired with others to capture Ye Mo, you lost any right to expect her to support you,” Aunt Yu’s tone was cold. It wasn’t that she didn’t care about her mother, but she felt her mother had gone too far.

In the few months they had been with Ye Mo, they hadn’t lacked anything. Aunt Yu had even saved over three million star coins from selling fruit alone, something unimaginable back in the civilian district.

Thinking about her mother’s extravagant ways, Aunt Yu sighed and said, “Mom, my capabilities are limited. The most I can give you is 100,000 star coins a month, no more. I have other things to deal with now, so we’ll leave it at that.”

“Wait! Wait!” Grandma Yu quickly called out. “Jiajia, we don’t have much earning potential. But now, there’s an opportunity. Someone wants Ye Mo’s child and is willing to pay 150 million.”

Aunt Yu was stunned. “Mom, isn’t Ye Mo your granddaughter? Isn’t her child your great-grandchild? You want to sell your own descendant?”

“Jiajia, if she wants, she can always have another child,” Grandma Yu said, fixated on the 150 million.

“Mom, your fertility value is still high. Maybe you should consider having a child to sell yourself.” Aunt Yu’s tone instantly turned icy, feeling an increasing distance from her mother.

“Jiajia, what are you saying? If I had a child, wouldn’t it be your sibling?”

“And what about Ye Mo? What right do you have to sell her child? Mom, what happened to you? You used to love Ye Mo. Why have you changed?”

“Jiajia, your brother still hasn’t woken up. Xiao He contacted me, and she’s been taking care of him. I think Xiao He is a good girl.”

Aunt Yu laughed in disbelief. “Oh, she’s great, alright. She stole someone’s fiancé and plotted against her own sister. Truly wonderful!”

Hearing this, Grandma Yu’s voice rose again. “Jiajia, how can you say that about Xiao He? She’s your niece!”

“She’s not. I don’t have a niece who behaves like an animal. Mom, you’re living in Ye Mo’s house, and now you’re standing against her. Don’t you feel ashamed?” Aunt Yu hung up after this, bewildered by her mother’s sudden change in values.

Why? Why had she changed?

Back in the villa, Grandma Yu was in tears, resentful that her daughter didn’t understand her, didn’t understand a mother’s heart.

Ye Mo was rising in power, but Yu Fengqi was falling. Grandma Yu felt that Ye Mo had become so distant, no longer the little girl she once needed to protect.

In reality, Grandma Yu’s mental state had begun to deteriorate. The mix of chaos and emotional strain had caused her to lose herself.

If Ye Mo were still at the villa, she might have noticed something was wrong with Grandma Yu. But Ye Mo had already left, driven away by Grandma Yu’s actions.

So Grandma Yu was, in a way, reaping what she had sown.

To make matters worse, Grandma Yu told Yu He where she lived, and they arranged to meet.

Yu He was now showering Grandma Yu with patience and care, making her tilt her heart toward Yu He.

But Ye Mo was no longer the same Yu Mo. Grandma Yu’s change didn’t affect her anymore.

Ye Mo overheard the conversation between Aunt Yu and Grandma Yu, shaking her head. If Grandma Yu had stayed the same, she wouldn’t have minded taking care of her. But now that she had changed, Ye Mo saw no reason to go to such lengths.

She instructed the butler to warn the new butler of the villa not to allow any strangers in.

After all, it was her villa, left to her by Mother Ye, and she wouldn’t allow the enemies who had harmed her to set foot there.

Whether it was Yu Fengqi, Yuan Lili, or Yu He, none of them deserved to enter that villa.

If Grandma Yu insisted on her ways, Ye Mo would have no choice but to make her leave.
