Giving Birth
Mo Mo looked at Ye Mo with a mixture of helplessness and indulgence in his eyes. He pointed at her large belly, “Momo, sweetheart, you may have the ability to protect yourself, but what about him?”
Ye Mo stared at her big belly in frustration. It truly was a burden. If she really ended up on the battlefield, she couldn’t guarantee that this big belly wouldn’t slow her down.
Unable to help herself, Ye Mo spoke to her belly, “Little one, still not ready to come out? If you don’t, you’ll miss all the fun!”
The light within her belly twinkled in response, though it couldn’t make any sound. Ye Mo had no idea what it was trying to communicate.
Soon, Ye Mo felt a slight pain in her stomach and gasped.
“What’s wrong?” Mo Mo asked, his voice filled with concern.
Ye Mo, however, smiled. “It hurts a little. I think it’s time. Looks like our little one wants to join the battlefield too!”
Panicked, Mo Mo immediately scooped her up and rushed toward the courtyard, shouting for Auntie Yu and the butler.
By the time they made it to the courtyard, the medical robots were already prepped, and Auntie Yu had hurried over.
Aunt Yu was more nervous than Mo Mo. She followed them straight into the birthing room. The room had been prepared long ago in case of sudden labour, and her fear had been just that—a sudden labour with no time to prepare.
Ye Mo, lying on the bed, remained calm, while Auntie Yu gripped her hand tightly. “Don’t be scared, Momo. Auntie is here.”
Ye Mo found it amusing and grasped Aunt Yu’s hand in return. “Don’t worry, Auntie. I’m fine.”
One of the medical robots stepped up to Ye Mo and began an examination. Ye Mo had already removed her pants and felt a wave of pain, along with a sensation of something leaking.
One of the robots spoke, “It’s time.”
Auntie Yu leaned in closer, watching anxiously. She had seen cases where babies could get tangled in the umbilical cord.
When Auntie Yu saw the baby’s hair starting to show, she got excited. “Momo, keep going! The baby’s head is showing!”
Ye Mo bore down harder, the pain becoming intense. But for the sake of her little one, she kept pushing with all her might. “Ahhh!”
With one final, forceful push, the baby slid out. Auntie Yu quickly caught the newborn and exclaimed, “It’s a boy!” The medical robot clipped the umbilical cord, and Auntie Yu cleaned it up. The baby didn’t cry right away, so the robot lifted the baby’s legs and gave its bottom a light slap.
“Waaa!” The baby’s loud cry echoed through the room.
Relief washed over Ye Mo as she heard the cry. But as soon as she relaxed, she felt something else coming from her belly. “Auntie, there’s another one.”
Mo Mo burst into the room just as Auntie Yu handed him the baby boy. She quickly shifted her attention back to Ye Mo, and in no time at all, another baby came. “Another boy, Momo! You did great—twins!”
Mo Mo gently placed the baby in a small crib nearby and rushed back to Ye Mo’s side. He offered her a cup of life water. “Momo, drink some water.” He realized this childbirth had taken a toll on her. After she drank the water, Ye Mo felt a bit of her strength return.
The medical robot cut the umbilical cord of the second boy, and Auntie Yu gave him a little slap on the bottom, just like before. The baby cried out, and Mo Mo’s heart ached at the sound. “Auntie, that’s too hard! You’ll hurt him!”
Auntie Yu laughed, bundling up the baby and handing him over. “It’s necessary! We need to make sure the baby isn’t choking on anything.”
Ye Mo muttered to herself, “Two boys, both hiding in there like it’s some big secret. Since when were boys so shy?”
Suddenly, the medical robot spoke up again, “Miss, there’s still another baby inside!”
Ye Mo’s eyes widened. Her belly had only shrunk halfway—it hadn’t gone back to normal size. Could it be that she wasn’t done?
Quickly, Auntie Yu delivered another baby, this time grinning from ear to ear. “Momo, it’s a girl!”
Ye Mo’s eyes sparkled. “Now that makes sense! Girls should be the shy ones.”
Auntie Yu swiftly cleaned up the little girl and passed her to Mo Mo, who immediately placed her next to her brothers. Ye Mo noticed the faint glow in her belly hadn’t disappeared. Could there be yet another child?
Determined, Ye Mo gave one final push, and with it, the glowing light was expelled. Auntie Yu stared in shock as two more baby girls popped out at the same time. Fortunately, she caught them both.
“Momo, another two girls!” Auntie Yu exclaimed, her voice trembling with excitement. And then, as if it weren’t surprising enough, the medical robot caught one last baby. “The sixth one—a boy.”
Three boys and three girls? Mo Mo felt like he was going to faint from happiness. He could feel the deep connection between himself and the babies the moment they were born. Every single one of them was his.
He looked at Ye Mo with awe. “You’re amazing, Mo Mo. But it must have been so hard on you.” He gently wiped the sweat from her face and kissed her forehead.
After placing the third daughter beside Ye Mo, he whispered, “Maybe we should start a livestream about raising our little ones.”
Momo laughed, “You’ll make the whole galaxy jealous.”
Six babies—what would that even mean in a galaxy where most people couldn’t have children? Everyone would be green with envy.
The babies were all bundled up, but Auntie Yu was still fixated on the fourth and fifth babies. “How do we tell who’s older? They came out at the same time!”
“Auntie, how should we sort them?” Mo Mo asked, preparing to put on their bracelets to keep track of the birth order.
“Your left one is older,” Ye Mo said confidently.
“How do you know?” Aunt Yu asked, surprised.
“I just do,” Ye Mo smiled.
Hearing the news of six babies, the butler couldn’t contain his excitement. “Six little masters! We don’t have enough nannies.”
He immediately ordered twelve more robotic nannies to help. Soon, the babies were taken for their first baths, while medical robots cleaned up Ye Mo.
With her body feeling much lighter, Mo Mo gave her another cup of life water. After drinking it, Ye Mo felt fully rejuvenated. If Auntie Yu hadn’t stopped her, she would have gotten up to jump a few times.
