Preparing to Set Off (Part 1)
Aunt Yu had been feeling uneasy about the villa for some time. She couldn’t shake the guilt she felt toward Ye Mo. Originally, that villa had been well-hidden, but because of her mother, its location had been exposed to certain people. Now, not only was it impossible to live there again, but it could never be used as a residence in the future either.
Whether it was her fault or her mother’s, in Aunt Yu’s eyes, they were merely guests. Despite Ye Mo being so kind to them, her mother had overstepped the boundaries.
After chatting for a while to console Aunt Yu, Ye Mo returned to the children.
The six children were all sleeping in her room. Maybe it was because the room carried her scent or for some other reason, but they slept peacefully and soundly.
To be honest, taking care of six children hadn’t been too difficult for Ye Mo. The robotic nanny mostly handled their care, with Aunt Yu helping as well. In fact, everyone in the valley—people and robots alike—was focused on the six children. However, by evening, the children only wanted to stay close to Ye Mo. Due to Guai Guai’s illness, she decided to keep them with her at night.
After carefully checking on the children, she realized that it wasn’t just Guai Guai who had issues. The other children also harbored a powerful energy within them, though it hadn’t yet manifested in the explosive way it had with Guai Guai.
Ye Mo’s expression darkened. The situation had become more severe than she had anticipated. She had to find someone who could help the children before the others experienced their own energy outbursts.
Frankly, she didn’t mind going to the main star, but she had no idea where to start when it came to finding practitioners. As Mo Mo had mentioned, these people often lived in seclusion.
There’s an old saying: “The greatest recluse lives in the city; the lesser recluse hides in the mountains.” True masters could blend in among ordinary people without anyone noticing.
Ye Mo no longer felt frustrated about not going to the Beast Clan. Her focus had shifted entirely to solving the problem with the children. If they couldn’t fully control this energy, it could lead to dangerous self-destruction.
This was no trivial matter. She still didn’t know where this energy came from. Both she and Mo Mo Mo were ghost cultivators, but the energy inside the children was the opposite—bright and radiant, the essence of life.
“Sigh!” Ye Mo let out a deep breath. Apart from heading to the main star to seek help from practitioners, she had no other options.
While there could be some practitioners on Kamo Star, finding them would be incredibly difficult as they tended to stay hidden. But on the main star, as Mo Mo had mentioned, there were more practitioners, some of whom lived openly. There, she might even find practitioners who took on tasks like balancing the energy in bodies for a fee, as long as you had the currency.
Mo Mo knew that while his little wife might lack other resources, she certainly wasn’t short on money. Moreover, once on the main star, she could even use fruits as a reward to attract practitioners. These fruits were highly coveted by those in the cultivation world.
Mo Mo had already returned to the military camp. Though worried about the children, he trusted Ye Mo’s abilities. He had also promised the general of the Seventh District to join the battle against the Beast Clan, which would help secure more land for their children to grow and explore. He needed to go for that reason alone.
And with the Beast Clan being as dangerous as it was, Mo Mo hadn’t wanted Ye Mo to go in the first place. Now, with the need for her to take care of the children, it was the perfect excuse to keep her away from the battlefield.
When Mo Mo arrived at the camp, the first thing he did was select bodyguards for his wife. He gathered all his guards and began picking through them. Anyone too tall, overweight, or strikingly handsome was immediately ruled out. He chose only those of average height, with ordinary looks but a sharp and capable demeanor.
As long as they weren’t too good-looking, they posed no threat!
Eventually, Mo Mo selected ten guards and gave them strict instructions. “From now on, the ten of you will be responsible for protecting my wife and children. You must guard them with the same dedication you would give to protecting me… Now, go select five hundred more soldiers.”
Mo Mo, who usually didn’t talk much, had a lot to say this time. Though everyone else had dispersed, the ten chosen guards were left feeling overwhelmed by his barrage of instructions.
If Mo Mo was willing to let Ye Mo go to the main star alone, it was because he had made meticulous preparations. Aside from the ten personal guards, he planned for them to select an additional two hundred soldiers to serve as their escort.
When it came to trusted protection, Mo Mo had the utmost confidence in his guards. And since they were responsible for selecting others, he felt assured that the security would be top-notch.
The ten chosen guards saluted and immediately began their task. Their eyes sparkled with excitement. Though they were dedicated to their roles, they also couldn’t deny their curiosity. None of them had ever seen the general’s wife or the little lords and ladies before, as Mo Mo had been fiercely protective. The recent sighting of the children’s tiny footprints had melted even the most hardened of hearts, sparking bets on who would get the first glimpse of them.
They knew Mo Mo would leave behind a protective force for his wife and children as he went off to war with the Beast Clan, and everyone was eager for the chance to stay behind and guard them.
It wasn’t that they didn’t want to fight, but as guards, opportunities to display their skills in battle were rare. This mission was a golden opportunity.
Each of the ten guards was to select twenty soldiers they trusted most. Mo Mo knew that by letting his guards choose, the level of trust and reliability would be higher.
For the guards, picking their men was no challenge. They trained with them daily and knew exactly who was suited for the task. Those too valuable for the battlefield were left behind, while those with exceptional fighting skills were chosen. After all, the general’s wife and children were in a perilous situation, and many across the galaxy would want to target them.
Back at the villa, Ye Mo had nearly finished packing. The children’s belongings were neatly organized. Aunt Yu had also prepared plenty of clothes and toys for them. Though Ye Mo had enough supplies to clothe hundreds of children, she didn’t stop Aunt Yu, understanding that it was her way of expressing love for the little ones.
