Reborn in the Interstellar World as Cannon Fodder Chapter 78

Clone Technique

Ye Mo gazed at the ethereal figure before her. It looked exactly like the remnant of the spiritual body she had cultivated in the past.

Standing up, Ye Mo signalled the nanny robot to watch the children while she approached the shadowy figure. She attempted to touch it, but her hand passed right through.

“What is this, Master?” the old butler asked nervously, watching Ye Mo closely.

“This is the spiritual body I cultivated in my previous life. I thought it had completely dissipated, but it seems a fragment remained. Housekeeper, do you think I could use it to cultivate a clone now?” Ye Mo’s excitement grew as she pondered the possibilities.

Hearing this, the butler hurried off to the warehouse. “Wait here, Master! I think I’ve seen something related to that.”

About fifteen minutes later, the butler returned, holding a jade slip in his hands. “Clone technique, young master, but this body is a pure yang spirit, which is opposite to your own cultivation. If it’s not suitable, won’t it harm your body?”

Ye Mo shook her head. “I’ll study it. If I can truly cultivate with my clones, I might be able to solve the health issues of the children myself.”

The butler, equally excited, chimed in, “Exactly! If you can resolve it, we won’t need to ask for help from anyone.”

Just then, a knock echoed from the door outside. Ye Mo exited her space and used her spiritual awareness to sense who it was—it appeared to be one of the bodyguards.

She opened the door, and the guard entered the room. “Madam!”

Raising an eyebrow, Ye Mo asked, “Aren’t you afraid of being discovered?”

“Everyone is currently gathered in the ship’s main hall. Would you like to join them, Madam?” the guard replied. He wouldn’t have dared knock if he wasn’t sure the coast was clear.

Ye Mo shook her head. “I won’t be going, but be cautious. Especially keep an eye on Yu He and Zhang Yuming. They won’t sit quietly.”

“Rest assured, Madam. We’re monitoring them closely! We won’t disturb you further.” The guard, though he hadn’t seen the six children, knew they were safe. After all, their mission was to ensure the children reached the Main Star One for treatment and cultivation.

The guard left, carefully closing the door behind him. Nearby, the fake general’s wife, posing as Ye Mo, also stayed in her room, heeding Mo Mo’s instructions not to seek trouble. The obedient robot knew better than to stir up unnecessary drama.

Ye Mo didn’t dwell on these matters. Instead, she turned her attention to the clone technique. The method involved splitting one’s consciousness, a painful process. But Ye Mo didn’t hesitate—she aimed to split off one-fifth of her consciousness for the cultivation of a clone.

Following the steps outlined in the technique, Ye Mo severed a portion of her consciousness, nearly fainting from the pain. To speed up her recovery, she returned to her personal space. Her spiritual body separated from her physical body, with the fragmented consciousness controlling the shadowy figure. She immersed her body in the vitality water on the yang side of the pool, while her soul soaked in the dark waters on the yin side.

As she immersed herself in the water, the intense pain finally overwhelmed her, and she lost consciousness.

When Ye Mo’s spiritual body finally woke, she noticed that another part of her consciousness had rapidly strengthened.

“Master, it’s been six hours,” the butler informed her, knowing that his young mistress was still dazed.

“Only six hours? I didn’t expect the spiritual body to cultivate so quickly!” Ye Mo summoned her physical body back and re-entered it. The spiritual body, meanwhile, remained in the vitality water to continue its cultivation.

Her soul now fully restored, and Ye Mo no longer felt the earlier pain. Although the process of splitting her consciousness had been agonizing, the newfound experience of dual awareness was intriguing.

Returning to her quarters aboard the ship, Ye Mo noticed a commotion outside. Yu He was making a scene at the door of the adjacent room, demanding to see her but was stopped outside by two soldiers.

“Sister, I just want to check on my nephews. Are they alright?” Yu He feigned innocence, but her behaviour made Ye Mo feel disgusted. What was this woman’s game? Did she still intend to sell off her six children?

Unbeknownst to Ye Mo, Yu He indeed had her eyes on the children. She wanted to adopt them, as in this world, adopted children were legally considered one’s own. If she could lay claim to Ye Mo’s six children, it would provide her with considerable leverage on the Main Star One.

“Please leave. Our lady has no interest in seeing you,” the soldiers standing guard told Yu He firmly. Their commanders had made it clear that this woman was not to meet with the lady.

Frustrated but unable to force her way in, Yu He reluctantly left, though she believed there would be other opportunities. As long as she could regain control over Ye Mo, the six children could eventually be listed under her name.

Yu He’s fantasies were grand, indeed.

Ye Mo continued watching her through spiritual awareness, seeing Yu He return to the room she shared with her mother, Yuan Lili. Unless summoned by Prince Caser, Yu He would have to remain there.

“She wouldn’t let you in?” Yuan Lili asked her daughter.

“That’s right. She wouldn’t let me see the children.” Yu He clenched her fists. “I must get them before we reach the Main Star One. Otherwise, who knows where they’ll disappear to?”

“The journey is long, and this is just the first day. Don’t rush. There will be plenty of chances,” Yuan Lili began to scheme. “Spend more time with the prince during the voyage. Who knows? Maybe good news will come before we arrive.”

“Mom, there are so many women around the prince. Who knows when my turn will come?” Yu He replied, frustrated. At the recent banquet, several women had been offered to the prince, and to her dismay, Prince Caser welcomed all of them into his arms.

Winning back the prince’s favour seemed nearly impossible now. After all, while Yu He had a slight edge over ordinary women in appearance, she paled in comparison to someone as striking as Ye Mo. Worse, Yu He had no unique qualities, and Prince Caser had long grown tired of her.

Ye Mo, observing Prince Caser from a distance, saw him surrounded by women. She had been considering restoring Qin Lin’s memories, but now it seemed unnecessary. Given how much fun he was having, it was probably best not to interfere.
