I Deliver Takeout Across the Multiverse Chapter 53: The Third Order from the Marquis of Pingyang Residence (Part 5)

Liu Changqing knew deep down that his words were just out of anger. With so many people around, that woman hadn’t even had the chance to do anything. But with his fear of possibly going blind, he needed an outlet for his frustration.

The Marquis, Liu Fengning, had long doted on his eldest son. At this moment, he had forgotten all about the business he wanted to discuss with Yun Tutu and hurriedly took Liu Changqing to the palace.

They visited several imperial physicians at the Imperial Medical Bureau, but none could identify the cause of his blindness. Disappointed, they returned to the mansion.

Marquis Liu never suspected foul play in his son’s sudden blindness. After all, if the imperial physicians couldn’t find any evidence of poisoning, it had to be due to Liu Changqing’s own habits. The boy had been pushing himself too hard lately, reading endlessly and possibly straining his eyes.

Before, Marquis Liu had favored Liu Changqing because of his studiousness and filial behavior. But now that his son’s eyes were damaged, his attitude changed. He instructed his personal servant to take Liu Changqing back to his courtyard and told his son’s biological mother to care for him properly. From now on, he shouldn’t wander around unnecessarily.

On the way home, Marquis Liu had already begun distancing himself from his eldest son. He had other sons, after all, and would now focus on raising them instead. The thought of having a blind son would damage his reputation, and he resolved to minimize Liu Changqing’s presence in the future.

Anger simmered in his heart. He had known this child wasn’t cut out for greatness, and now he regretted leaving the affairs of the house behind to deal with this.

Arriving at the mansion, Marquis Liu found only a few servants cleaning up. His wife and daughter were nowhere to be seen.

“Where are the Madam and the young lady?” he asked.

“Replying to the Marquis, the Madam and the young lady went out,” replied Li Momo, the head maid, running out to greet him.

Yun Tutu had delivered so many items today, including the ones to be sent to Lin Shan. The rest were things others had commissioned the Madam and young lady to buy. Not wanting to delay, they had left promptly.

Li Momo glanced nervously at Marquis Liu, noticing the anger brewing in his eyes. She became even more cautious.

“And where is that Yun girl?” Marquis liu suspicion deepened, though he didn’t want to believe it.

“She left already, Marquis,” Li Momo answered respectfully.

“Hmph.” Marquis Liu glanced around at the servants, wanting to vent his frustration. But mindful of his daughter’s reputation, he held his temper and stormed off.

Li Momo breathed a sigh of relief, filled with admiration for the Madam’s foresight. It was thanks to the eldest young master’s interference that the Madam’s plans had gone smoothly.

In a cheerful mood, she clapped her hands and addressed the servants, “Hurry up and clean everything. The kitchen has prepared some snacks for you. Go and claim your reward.”

“Yes,” the maids and servants replied happily. They were delighted to be working in the young lady’s courtyard. Lately, the young lady had been in an excellent mood, and rewards flowed generously. The entire mansion envied those working in this courtyard.

Yun Tutu returned from the mansion fully loaded with gold. She couldn’t help but think that a thorough disinfection was the only thing missing to make this day perfect.

After cleaning herself up, she headed downstairs to show everyone the spoils of her trip.

Rows of gold ingots were neatly arranged, a sight so overwhelming that even Zhang Yaowen, who rarely showed emotion, was left speechless.

“Did you really make this much gold in such a short amount of time?” he marveled.

“This is easier than robbing a bank,” Zhang Yang said, running his hands over the meticulously disinfected gold bars laid out before her. “Thanks to you, I’m seeing this much gold in one place for the first time in my life.”

Chen Yuxi chimed in, “You’re young. I’m almost 40, and I’ve never seen this much gold before.”

Working with Yun Tutu had already yielded incredible rewards. If they could tap into other parallel dimensions, the possibilities were beyond imagination.

“Is everything accounted for?” Wu Haojun asked calmly. While the sight of gold was impressive, he preferred the apocalypse world they had visited before. If they could return, the potential advancements in technology would be immense. Still, the gold was useful. Stockpiling it could stabilize the economy, curb inflation, safeguard financial security, and hedge against market volatility.

“Yun Tutu,” Wu Haojun said with a friendly smile, “let’s discuss this. Storing all this gold could be a hassle for you. How about we convert it into currency?”

Half of the gold technically belonged to Yun Tutu. Even though he was tempted, he knew they had to discuss things fairly.

Yun Tutu replied, “You guys can handle it. But this is a lot of gold. Maybe I should take a little less?”

Wu Haojun admired Yun Tutu’s honesty more with each passing day. They had no intention of taking advantage of her—everything had already been agreed upon in writing.

“Let’s stick to the rules,” he said firmly. “The funds will be transferred to your account shortly. But don’t relax just yet—we need you to make a report.”

Yun Tutu, having gone through the process before, wasn’t as nervous this time. “Alright, I’ll explain everything in detail.”

She headed to the conference room in the neighboring villa and gave a thorough report, ensuring nothing was left out. Afterward, she returned home.

As she approached the house, she noticed a construction crew busy at work.

“What’s going on here?” she asked, looking around curiously. To her surprise, it was Zhang Yaowen supervising the project. She went over to inquire.

Zhang Yaowen took a quick glance at his colleagues, urging them to work faster, before removing his gloves and turning to Yun Tutu. “Let’s talk inside.”

“Whenever you travel through dimensions, there’s always a flash of light,” Zhang Yaowen explained once inside the house. “Although the surrounding area is all ours, the sky above isn’t. To ensure security and maintain secrecy, we’ve decided to build a roof over the yard. This will help prevent any prying eyes.”

One or two flashes might not be a big deal, but over time, it could expose their secret. Better to be cautious for Yun Tutu’s future safety.

“Oh, I hadn’t thought about that,” Yun Tutu admitted. “You guys are really thorough. Thanks for taking care of it. Can I treat everyone to dinner to show my appreciation?”

“No need. It’s all part of the job,” Zhang Yaowen replied.

Yun Tutu grinned as she picked up her phone. “Come on, I just made a huge deposit today. Let me have a chance to spend some of it.”

Zhang Yaowen hesitated. “That might be against regulations.”

“People still need to eat,” Yun Tutu said as she scrolled through restaurant options. “We’re basically colleagues, right? Colleagues can have a meal together—that’s not against the rules.”

Chen Yuxi popped out of the kitchen. “Of course, that’s fine! We’re eating big tonight.”

She glanced at Zhang Yaowen, impressed by his competence but amused by how by-the-book he was.
