Trouble Comes Knocking, Part 3
At this moment, the front door of Madame Rhein’s house was beginning to fall apart under the force of the assault. Everyone watching the livestream was horrified.
“Oh my god, I’m suddenly feeling so scared. What do we do?”
“I’m scared even through the screen. Rhein, are you okay?” One commenter clearly knew Madame Rhein personally.
“Prince Kaman didn’t seem this ruthless, did he?”
“I remember Prince Kaman praising his princess as the cutest thing on Earth!”
“The cutest thing? You must be joking. She looks more like a terrifying beast right now!”
People kept chattering in the chat, each offering their thoughts, but all were anxiously awaiting the arrival of the interstellar police. The Second Princess had undoubtedly broken the law—this was outright violence. Even though she was a noble, she was still subject to the law, and no one had immunity for such a crime.
Meanwhile, Princess Kaman was acting arrogantly outside. In her mind, she had already shown great favour by offering to buy Madame Rhein’s child. Since Madame Rhein refused to accept her offer, she decided she would bully her until she complied.
The princess had brought nearly thirty bodyguards with her, and five of them were currently battering the door.
Some nearby residents, who had seen the live stream, secretly arrived and started streaming the situation from the front gate, capturing the princess’s violent actions.
As the door was about to give way, Madame Rhein finally made the decision to call the police herself. After all, breaking into someone’s house was a serious crime. She had initially thought of giving the royal family and the finance minister some face, but since the princess was being so relentless, she had no choice but to play hardball.
Madame Rhein knew that some viewers had likely already called the police for her, but it seemed the interstellar police were slow to respond. She even suspected that they might be waiting nearby, watching as the princess completed her assault, only to show up afterward and intimidate her into submission. But that wasn’t going to happen today. Madame Rhein had started the live stream with the express intention of ensuring this wouldn’t end quietly.
Now that she had called the police herself, and everyone could see her doing so live, the whole interstellar public was witnessing the Second Princess’s brazenness. If the police tried to cover it up, they would have to answer to the public.
Meanwhile, some of those who had reported the situation were getting frustrated. “What are the interstellar police doing? Blue Sky Star isn’t that remote, is it? Do they have no ability? If they can’t handle the job, there are plenty of people who would be happy to take over.”
It wasn’t just one person who called the police—many had done so. People were growing increasingly agitated. Even the dispatchers at the police station were fuming. “What’s going on? Madame Rhein’s house is just one street away, and it’s been half an hour. Why hasn’t anyone gotten there?”
With that, another squad was sent out from the station.
By now, over a hundred thousand people had joined the live stream, and Ye Mo, noticing the relatively small audience, decided to promote it with her own master streamer account.
“Live now: come witness human cruelty!”
As soon as Ye Mo posted this, within moments, Madame Rhein’s live broadcast room surged to millions of viewers.
When people saw the door about to be broken down and realized it was Princess Kaman, daughter of the finance minister, outside, it wasn’t just the interstellar community that was shaken—the top officials of the First Main Star were also alarmed. After all, the finance minister had made his share of enemies, and now his opponents seized this opportunity to send the video straight to the Interstellar King.
Just as the video reached the Interstellar King, the door to Madame Rhein’s house was finally broken down. Splintered wood flew everywhere, startling the Interstellar King. He then saw a flood of online comments, half condemning the royal family, and half criticizing the finance minister. Surprisingly, there weren’t as many directly criticizing the princess.
That’s when the arrogant face of Princess Kaman appeared clearly on the livestream.
“Have you made up your mind, Madame Rhein?” The princess’s fake smile made people feel that this woman was really cruel.
“I’ve already told you, Second Princess, my child is my life. I will not sell him. No matter what, you cannot cover the sky with one hand!” Madame Rhein clenched her fists. She had raised this child for over half a year and had grown deeply attached. How could she possibly sell him? It was out of the question.
“You really don’t know what’s good for you, do you? Guards, search the house!” If 100 million wasn’t enough to buy the child, then she would simply take him by force. The princess had no idea that her cold, tyrannical behaviour was being witnessed by tens of millions of people.
Apart from the front-facing live stream from Madame Rhein’s feed, there were several smaller streams being broadcast by others secretly filming outside. Each captured the unfolding drama with bated breath.
The princess’s cruel face was now displayed in front of the entire interstellar community, and many found it hard to believe what they were seeing.
“Is that really Princess Kaman? I remember she didn’t look like this!”
“This is way too over the top,” someone blurted out.
“Who gave her the audacity?”
“The royal family and the finance minister, obviously!”
“This woman clearly has two faces. I never would’ve guessed she was this good at pretending. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe it!”
“Oh my god, suddenly I feel like regular people like us shouldn’t even have children. Otherwise, we really have no way to survive.”
“Yeah, just look at what happened to General Mo’s wife.”
“How does this relate to the general’s wife?”
“Haven’t you heard the rumours that General Mo’s wife sold her child and then jumped into space with a man?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Have you ever considered that this could all have been premeditated? What if someone forced the general’s wife to sell the child and then threw her into space? Who can really say?”
At this point, everyone was stunned. Right—there had been no footage from the spaceship. Who could say what had really happened? Could it have been a conspiracy?
However, someone quickly interjected, “Wait, weren’t we talking about Princess Kaman?”
“I suddenly feel like the general’s wife was murdered!”
“This is definitely part of a bigger conspiracy!”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t help but feel paranoid now. This whole thing feels terrifying. What should we do?”
“Who else was on that ship?”
“Well… I heard Prince Caser was there too!”
“Ugh! Why does every scandal involving children seem to connect to the royal family?”
“Prince Caser wouldn’t do that, right?”
“Wait, are we losing focus here? What about Madame Rhein? This Second Princess is acting outrageously. Isn’t anyone going to step in?”
“Yeah, why hasn’t anyone helped her? Where are the interstellar police? They usually respond so quickly.”
