Reborn in the Interstellar World as Cannon Fodder Chapter 120

Danger, Part 5

Mo Mo dodged the attack from the ghost vine effortlessly, which only enraged the plant further. It quickly lashed out again. This ghost vine had already reached the cultivation level of the middle stage of the Golden Core. Its strength was significant, and each attack it made carried immense force.

For dozens of strikes, the ghost vine tried to hit Mo Mo, but he dodged them all with ease. This only made the vine angrier, and soon it started emitting a sharp, ear-piercing screech.

Mo Mo’s cultivation was high enough that the screeching didn’t affect him. As for those aboard the battleship, the distance between them and the vine meant the screeching didn’t affect the soldiers either.

While avoiding the vine’s attacks, Mo Mo realized something: this ghost vine didn’t originate from the Dark Realm. It was native to this place. No matter what Mo Mo said, the vine couldn’t understand him. Typically, if a ghost plant had lived in the Dark Realm, it would understand the language, but this one didn’t.

Initially, Mo Mo had felt some pity for the vine, given how difficult it was for it to grow to this level. But now, its relentless harassment was starting to get on his nerves. Its screeching clearly indicated that it was calling for reinforcements, and Mo Mo noticed that the entire surface of this fake planet was covered with ghost vines. When all these things are gathered together, they will be quite powerful

Seeing this, Ye Mo quickly ordered the two battleships to pull back. Yan Mingke hurried back to his own ship, the Seventh District’s battleship, fearing that his absence might lead to chaos.

Outside, Mo Mo and the ghost vine were locked in battle, and Yan Mingke knew that this was not a fight they could interfere with. He was thankful he hadn’t been persuaded by his officers earlier. If the Seventh District’s ship had been entangled alone, there would have been no escape for anyone. Even though they were all space soldiers, they were still mortal beings, and they couldn’t withstand a single strike from the vine. Yan Mingke knew this from personal experience.

Ye Mo observed the ghost vines on the fake planet gathering together and reaching out toward them. She had a feeling these vines hadn’t had fresh blood in a long time, which was why they were so determined to attack, even though they could sense Mo Mo’s formidable power.

Ye Mo wanted to help Mo Mo, but she found herself held back by her son, Guaiguai.

“Mom, you don’t need to go!” Guaigui said, clutching her tightly. His father had told him earlier that it was best to keep their family’s abilities hidden as much as possible. If Mo Mo had to reveal his, so be it, but it was better if Ye Mo didn’t. Dad had also said that these ghost vines were not something Mom could handle without getting hurt, so Guaiguai’s job was to keep her from intervening.

“But I want to help your father!” Ye Mo protested.

“But you’ll just make things harder for him. Dad can handle it!” Guaiguai responded seriously. Ye Mo couldn’t help but blush at the truth of his words—she would indeed be a burden. Mo Mo was still in control of the situation.

“Mom, you should stay here and protect us,” Niuniu added, hugging one of Ye Mo’s legs to stop her from leaving.

“Alright, Mommy won’t go,” Ye Mo relented, knowing she couldn’t risk making things worse, especially in front of her children. Glancing outside, she saw that Mo Mo was indeed handling things with ease. The ghost vines hadn’t landed a single hit on him. She relaxed, realizing that staying put was the best course of action, she would just watch and not embarrass herself in front of the children.

Seeing that their mother had promised to stay, Niuniu released her grip on Ye Mo’s leg. “You’d better keep your word, Mom!”

“Of course! When has Mom ever not kept her promises?” Ye Mo replied, a little exasperated. Did her children really think she was the type to go back on her word?

“I trust you, Mom, but please stick to your promise,” Niuniu said sweetly.

“I trust you too, Mom!” Yueyue chimed in.

The other three kids didn’t want to be left out either and rushed to cling to Ye Mo, determined to keep her from going outside. After all, they were worried about her getting hurt. Their mom was delicate, but their dad? He could handle it. He was thick-skinned and tough.

Mo Mo, outside, had no idea his children were thinking such things about him. If he knew they were calling him thick-skinned, he would have been a little disappointed.

Mo Mo was actually enjoying himself out there. Given his cultivation, these ghost vines were nothing more than toys to him. To be honest, he’d been feeling stifled during his time in the galaxy, and now he could finally have some fun with these ghost vines. When he saw his wife about to come out earlier, it had given him a scare. Fighting these ghost vines was one thing, but Ye Mo wouldn’t have had an easy time. Fortunately, he’d communicated with Guaiguai, and seeing that his kids had successfully stopped Ye Mo from leaving, Mo Mo felt quite pleased. Those six kids were smart, just like him!

While Mo Mo fought the ghost vines, his six kids and Ye Mo watched from a distance, occasionally making comments.

“Dad made that vine bleed!”

“Aren’t plants supposed to bleed green? Why is their blood red?”

“They look really vicious!”

“These ghost vines are terrifying!”

Inside the battleship, the soldiers of the Eighth District watched the battle intently. Even Lu Ke couldn’t tear his eyes away, thinking to himself that this man was truly a warrior.

If the Beast Clan had encountered these ghost vines, they would have had no chance. They weren’t agile enough to dodge the vines’ attacks. Only someone like Mo Mo could manage to avoid so many strikes.

The soldiers of the Eighth District were on edge, their hearts racing. They were terrified that one of the ghost vines might land a hit on their general. Some of them were so tense they were almost screaming.

The vines were long, covered in thorns, and extremely dangerous. Everyone had heard Yan Mingke’s screams when he got hit earlier, and while they hadn’t seen his wound, they knew it must have been excruciating. After all, Yan Mingke was a general with a higher tolerance for pain than most. If even he couldn’t endure it, the pain must have been unimaginable.

Back on the Seventh District’s ship, Yan Mingke was surrounded by his soldiers, all of whom were horrified by the sight of his injured ankle. It was riddled with deep puncture wounds, and they were grateful that the Eighth District had medicine to treat it. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have known how to handle such an injury. Each puncture looked incredibly deep.
