The Fall of the Alpha
The Fall of the Alpha Chapter 9

Chapter 9 Shen Xingyan: Awkward, Too Awkward

Shen Xingyan held the prescription and looked at the obscure and difficult-to-understand font on it. He gave up studying it and was about to leave when the doctor behind him called out to him.

“Student Shen, you must remember to take your medicine properly.” The doctor emphasized with a frown, “And your boyfriend should also be careful. Pheromones shouldn’t be taken lightly.”

“Fortunately, I’m on duty today, otherwise other omegas wouldn’t be able to handle it.”

Shen Xingyan just smiled awkwardly, not quite understanding what he was saying. After walking out of the doctor’s sight, he stopped in his tracks and slowly asked, “Wait a minute, System, the person just now mentioned my boyfriend, right?”

【That’s correct】

“So, who was he talking about?”

The system remained silent, leaving Shen Xingyan to ponder alone. When he looked up, he couldn’t see Ji Jiangye’s figure.

He puzzled around, unable to spot him. Just as he was about to take out his phone to look for Ji Jiangye, he suddenly remembered that he had thoroughly deleted him after being rejected.

He awkwardly touched his nose.

“Hello, you must be Shen Xingyan, right?” The man walked up to him, smiling like a sly fox.

“I’m a doctor at this hospital, specializing in alphas. Ji student had something come up and had to leave early, so he asked me to inform you.”

Shen Xingyan looked at the man’s attire and the name tag on his white coat, Chang Yiqing. He remembered this name, nodded to indicate he understood, and headed towards the elevator.

Seeing him finally going downstairs, Chang Yiqing also breathed a sigh of relief, putting his hands in his pockets, feeling a bit emotional.

Ji Jiangye must have gone crazy. The kid was full of his pheromones, and Chang Yiqing didn’t dare to get too close.

Ji Jiangye’s alpha level was very high, to the point that even ordinary alphas felt like kneeling in front of him.

But at the same time, his heat period was terrifying and hard to control. There are currently no suppressants on the market that can completely control his heat period.

Chang Yiqing turned and walked towards the office, scratching his head like a chicken coop.

He had originally planned to take a good rest, but now he couldn’t.

Meanwhile, Shen Xingyan, who had taken the medicine, felt refreshed. Following the doctor’s instructions, he sprayed something to dispel pheromones on himself. Lunch break was almost over.

He walked out, passing by a dessert shop that looked quite nice. Looking at the cakes in the window, he couldn’t help but salivate.

No, he couldn’t eat! If the people at school knew he liked sweets, his image would be ruined.

With that in mind, a few minutes later, he had a chestnut Mont Blanc in his hand.

【Host, you actually—】

“I bought this as a thank-you gift for Ji Jiangye, what do you know!” Shen Xingyan retorted stubbornly.

His plan was simple. Based on his observations, Ji Jiangye didn’t like sweet things. If rejected, he could uphold the principle of not wasting and accept the cake openly!

The system saw through but didn’t expose him, turning to look at the slightly grown seedling, feeling very pleased.

When Shen Xingyan returned to school, he caused a sensation throughout the building. His red hair had remained unchanged for a long time, and during this period, no one could make him dye it back.

Everyone speculated that he had met someone he liked and changed for that person.

To this, Shen Xingyan said: Liked my foot, coerced, understand!

But he couldn’t say it. He couldn’t guarantee that Ji Jiangye wouldn’t talk about these past few days, let alone the matter of secondary differentiation.

If it all got out, his bunch of enemies would come knocking on his door.

Shen Xingyan’s silent demeanor was seen as tacit approval by others, sparking various discussions. Only Chen Rui slowly moved closer.

“Shen Xingyan, where did you go at noon? I didn’t see you when I came back.”

“Why do kids like you know so much?” Shen Xingyan placed what he was holding aside.

As soon as he sat down, the alpha closest to him immediately covered his nose, his brows furrowed tightly. He looked around but couldn’t pinpoint whose pheromones were wandering around.

“Who’s so unethical, hiss—”

Shen Xingyan’s Class 26 of Computer Science was the smallest class in Jincheng University.

Apart from ten alphas, there were only five omegas in the class, with the remaining thirty being betas. Even so, the ratio of alphas to omegas in their class was considered the highest in the entire school.

“I feel so uncomfortable.” He muttered as he rushed out of the door.

Shen Xingyan stared at the door, but even when the class bell rang, he still didn’t see Ji Jiangye walk in.

For some reason, he suddenly felt wide awake today. Chen Rui was extremely shocked to see him not sleeping, “Shen Xingyan, when did you start paying attention in class??”

He looked out the window, “The sun didn’t rise from the west and set in the east today.”

“Get lost!” Shen Xingyan kicked his leg, feeling a bit strange himself, then retracted his gaze and leaned back on the table.

“Shen Xingyan, what did you buy for lunch? Food?” Chen Rui, sharp-eyed, immediately noticed the dessert.

Shen Xingyan lackadaisically tossed the bag to him, “Take it and eat.”

At his words, Chen Rui cheered, startling the lecturing teacher who coughed disapprovingly several times.

Before falling asleep, Shen Xingyan couldn’t help but think fiercely, cursing Ji Jiangye for going to the hospital without telling anyone.

It wasn’t until the entire morning classes were over that he got up from the table, a red mark imprinted on his forehead from sleeping.

“Shen Xingyan, don’t tell me, that dessert today was really delicious. Was it sent by a little elementary school girl?” Chen Rui thought of the taste and couldn’t help licking his lips.

Without saying a word, Shen Xingyan stood up, picked up the medicine he bought today, and headed out.

“Shen Xingyan, we have evening self-study tonight!” Chen Rui was taken aback and quickly informed him.

Shen Xingyan just waved his hand, directly called the driver to pick him up, and asked Chen’s mom to arrange his absence.

On the way back, he idly played with his phone, and the driver chuckled.

“Young master is back so quickly today. Madam will be thrilled when she finds out. Miss also happens to be back home today.”

Shen Xingyan’s body stiffened at the news, “What? My sister is back?”

“Indeed.” The driver nodded proudly, “During the half month she was away, she successfully secured a big deal overseas!”

He felt his scalp tingle, relieved that he hadn’t done anything to upset his parents recently. Thinking of his decisive elder sister, Shen Xingyan regretted taking leave and returning home.

He picked up his phone, thinking about the whereabouts of the elusive Ji Jiangye. Looking at the quiet class group, he absentmindedly opened the member list, clicked on Ji Jiangye’s QQ homepage, and before he realized it, a friend request had been sent out.

“Damn!” Unable to hold back any longer, he startled the driver in front.

Shen Xingyan immediately lowered his phone, looking around, wishing he could find a hole to hide in.

A terrifying idea quickly formed in his mind – to quickly delete this QQ account, pretend the friend request was a hacking attempt, and apply for a new QQ account.

He pounded the seat in front of him with both hands, leaving the driver too scared to say a word.

After a few hits, Shen Xingyan, feeling embarrassed and flushed, calmed down. He picked up his phone, thinking Ji Jiangye probably wouldn’t accept.

As he opened his phone, a new friend appeared on the QQ chat page. Seeing the all-black profile picture, Shen Xingyan couldn’t help but comment.

“What a poser.”

Glancing at the time, he was surprised that the request was instantly accepted, making him doubt if it was really him.

Before he could think it through, a question mark appeared on the screen.

“Anything?”

Shen Xingyan’s mouth couldn’t droop any further.

Great, it’s definitely that annoying Ji Jiangye.
