Shen Mingyou paused and then smiled as she accepted the doll.
[Ah, did you hear that? “What Nian Nian has, you have too.” It’s even sweeter than love words!]
[Mr. Jiang is killing me with his charm.]
[I’ve played those claw machines so many times and never won anything. How did Brother Youzi win two out of four tries? What’s the trick? Can you share it with us?]
[They’ve been married for five years, but they still act like newlyweds. It’s so sweet! No hand-holding, no kissing, no hugging, yet the sweetness is overwhelming!]
…
After the first round, Jiang Chen drove ahead of the other families.
Shen Mingyou and Nian Nian each held a doll as they headed to the next challenge.
For the second round, Shen Mingyou chose the haunted house adventure.
The haunted house was in an amusement park. When Shen Mingyou and her friends arrived, a staff member guided them. At the entrance, they saw a sign put up by the show’s team with rules for the haunted house.
Because the children were so young, only couples were allowed inside, and the kids didn’t have to go.
Nian Nian was off the hook, but Shen Mingyou wasn’t. She had planned to let Jiang Chen go alone, but the show insisted that couples enter together.
Shen Mingyou was fairly brave, but her fear of ghosts depended on how realistic they looked. If they were too convincing, she might still get scared.
But now that she was here, she couldn’t back out.
“Are you scared?” Jiang Chen asked.
“It’s fine,” Shen Mingyou replied calmly. Jiang Chen, thinking she wasn’t afraid, felt reassured.
Nian Nian waited outside while Shen Mingyou and Jiang Chen entered the haunted house. A cameraman followed closely behind. As soon as they stepped inside, the lights went out, leaving everything in total darkness.
Jiang Chen seized the moment to reach for Shen Mingyou’s hand.
The two people held hands tightly in the darkness, with the camera following closely behind—
[Ahhh, they’re holding hands with Zhang Yu. How rare!]
[I’m really looking forward to the haunted house segment. I wonder who is more afraid of ghosts between Sister Youzi and Brother-in-law Youzi! The program team clearly planned this. They entered together, and they’re probably so scared they’ll hug tightly, hahaha!]
[It would be better if Sister Youzi is the scared one. Otherwise, if Mr. Jiang gets scared and hides in Sister Youzi’s arms, it would be hilarious. I might not even dare to watch!]
[They’re holding hands already, so a hug can’t be far off! Please, please hug tightly, and hold it as long as possible!]
Shen Mingyou was still calm as she followed Jiang Chen, moving forward. After a while, she suddenly felt something touch her arm. Then, in the silence, a hissing sound echoed. Shen Mingyou froze as something seemed to float past her. She got goosebumps immediately.
“Ah—” Just as Shen Mingyou started to feel scared, a scream came from behind her.
Startled, Shen Mingyou instinctively screamed too and grabbed the arm of the person next to her.
“Don’t worry, it’s just the staff getting scared.” Jiang Chen, feeling Shen Mingyou’s tight grip on his arm, realized she was afraid of ghosts!
“Sorry, sorry,” one of the staff members who had screamed said, clearly shaken. “A ghost pulled my hair, and I couldn’t help but scream. That ghost is too playful.”
Another staff member joked, “The ghosts in this amusement park aren’t even scary for elementary students. They’re not very realistic, so don’t worry.”
The frightened staff member responded, “Alright, I get it.”
Hearing this conversation, Shen Mingyou relaxed. These types of ghosts are usually just there to create a spooky atmosphere, letting visitors scare themselves. They aren’t actually that frightening. She let go of Jiang Chen’s arm and kept walking.
After a bit more walking, nothing too terrifying happened—just some ghost-like figures floating around and a few skulls tipping over.
Shen Mingyou breathed a sigh of relief, thinking they were almost out. But then, she stepped on something sticky. Even though she couldn’t see it, Shen Mingyou instinctively looked down. At that moment, a light illuminated the ground, revealing a transparent glass plate under her feet. Beneath the glass, a pale-faced female ghost, with blood seeping from her eyes, stared directly at her.
Shen Mingyou: “…”
The light flickered off just as fast as it had come on, and Shen Mingyou thought it was just her imagination. But as she continued looking down, the light suddenly flickered on again. The ghost grinned creepily, and its hand appeared to pass through the glass, grabbing onto Shen Mingyou’s foot.
“Ahhh—”
“What happened?!” Jiang Chen had been distracted by another ghost above, but when he heard Shen Mingyou’s scream, he quickly rushed to her.
Shen Mingyou screamed again, stomped her foot, then jumped onto Jiang Chen, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Whoever said the ghosts here aren’t realistic must be joking. That one looked like a real ghost!
She was scared out of her mind!
[Oh my gosh! Was the ghost that scared Shen Mingyou part of the original haunted house, or did the production team bring it in? It looked so real that I screamed right along with Shen Mingyou, watching from my screen!]
[I think the production team picked that one specifically. The other ghosts in this haunted house were fine, but that ghost was truly scary. That creepy smile—oh my goodness, I’m going to have nightmares tonight.]
“It’s okay, I’ll carry you,” Jiang Chen said, pressing Shen Mingyou’s head into his chest and patting her back gently.
Shen Mingyou didn’t dare walk anymore. She crossed her legs around Jiang Chen’s waist and clung to his neck, thinking about how gross it felt when that ghost touched her foot. She didn’t want to touch the ground again!
Luckily, they were close to the exit, and Jiang Chen carried her out swiftly.
Only when they saw the light again did Shen Mingyou start to calm down.
As Shen Mingyou fully came to her senses, she realized she was still clinging to Jiang Chen like a koala, with his hands holding her up.
Shen Mingyou: “…”
Jiang Chen asked, “Are you okay now?”
Shen Mingyou nodded. “Put me down.”
This time, Jiang Chen wasn’t as cooperative. There was no place to sit at the exit, and he’d been holding her for so long that his arms were getting tired. How could he not ask for a little something in return?
Jiang Chen turned off his microphone, then leaned down to whisper in Shen Mingyou’s ear, “How about we try this position again when we get home?”
Shen Mingyou: “…”
[Hahaha, they’ve been holding each other like there’s no one else around for ages.]
[Why isn’t the microphone picking anything up? I can only see President Jiang leaning affectionately and whispering something in Sister Youzi’s ear with a smile. What did he say? My curiosity is through the roof!]
[Oh wow, Brother-in-law Youzi was comforting Sister Youzi the whole time, rubbing her back to help her calm down. He held her like that for so long! Mr. Jiang is such a good man!]
[Aahhh, I’m melting! The hug and lift combo is just too sweet!]
