Wild Enough To Know Better
Wild Enough To Know Better Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Anticlimax

In the dark night, the surging tide of emotions returned.

Su Yu closed her eyes, restraining that desire, forcing herself into slumber.

The next day.

When Su Yu woke up, Shen Yan was already gone.

She looked out the window without the curtains drawn. The rain from last night had stopped, and the sky was turning a pale fish-belly white as the sun slowly rose.

Su Yu got up, barefoot on the cold floor, fetched her bag from the closet, took out a cigarette box and a lighter.

Lighting a cigarette, she leaned against the wall and smoked, still wearing the man’s T-shirt.

Su Yu didn’t have a strong addiction to smoking; she only did so when extremely suppressed or agitated.

The smoke from the cigarette dispersed in the air, swirling around Su Yu.

Shen Yan was right; her appearance made others think she was a woman who had been through many experiences. This often led to insinuations from male clients during negotiations, but she was clever enough to deftly evade them and successfully secure their signatures on contracts.

The cigarette burned out quickly.

Su Yu extinguished the butt in the ashtray, then turned and walked into the bathroom.

In the mirror, the woman bore traces of last night’s pleasure, with ambiguous marks on her body, faintly visible love bites on her neck.

Su Yu looked at her reflection in the mirror, a hint of a mocking smile playing at her lips.

After freshening up, Su Yu left the hotel room.

She had agreed with Chen to view properties today after the dinner last night.

When Su Yu arrived at the sales office, Chu Yao was already in the meeting area discussing contract details with Li.

She was on the late shift today and only arrived at ten o’clock.

Passing by the meeting area, Su Yu nodded at Chu Yao and then walked straight to the front desk.

Just as Su Yu had set down her bag, her male colleague Xiao Zhao approached, “Yu, I heard General Zheng has given you and Yao a key client again?”

Xiao Zhao’s tone carried a hint of envy.

Indeed, when performance was good, leaders tended to pay more attention.

Su Yu glanced at Xiao Zhao and calmly replied, “Why care about such things? Focus on following up with clients.”

Xiao Zhao pursed his lips.

Just then, a group of clients came to make a down payment.

Su Yu greeted them with a smile, “Mrs. Zhang, why didn’t you give me a call before coming?”

The ice-breaking between Su Yu and the clients went well.

Mrs. Zhang naturally linked her arm with Su Yu’s and said with a smile, “I happened to be passing by and thought of coming to make the down payment to save myself another trip.”

“Then please have a seat, I’ll go get the card reader and receipt,” Su Yu said.

Su Yu escorted Mrs. Zhang to the seating area.

She then went to the front desk to get the card reader and receipt, and also poured a glass of water for Mrs. Zhang.

At a billiards club.

Shen Yan and his friend were playing pool.

“I heard Ye Yifei is returning to the country,” Gu Bei said with a cigarette hanging from his mouth, looking a bit rascally.

He nudged the cue lightly, the white ball hitting the red ball, making a crisp sound.

Shen Yan glanced casually at Gu Bei, then aimed at the red ball Gu Bei had hit earlier, it rebounded and went into the pocket.

“I’m done,” Shen Yan tossed the cue on the table.

A dampener.

“What’s wrong? Weren’t you playing well?” Gu Bei looked at Shen Yan in confusion, full of doubt, “What’s up with you?”

Shen Yan took a sip of water, sat down, took out a cigarette, placed it between his lips, and lit it.

He didn’t answer Gu Bei’s question.

Gu Bei asked, “Are you upset when I mentioned Ye Yifei?”

Shen Yan didn’t respond to him, took another puff of smoke, and blew a smoke ring.

Gu Bei looked at Shen Yan, “I really don’t get it. I think Ye Yifei is a nice person.”

“Do you think so?” Shen Yan asked indifferently.

Gu Bei nodded, “Yes.”

Shen Yan gave him a cold look, flicked the cigarette butt into the ashtray, “If you think so, she’s all yours.”

With that, Shen Yan got up and left the billiards club.

Gu Bei was left dumbfounded, watching Shen Yan’s retreating figure, utterly confused.

Damn it!!!

What did he do to upset this man?

He just mentioned Ye Yifei, what does he mean by ‘all yours’!?

He didn’t want her anyway!

Gu Bei followed suit and left the billiards club.

Shen Yan was already in the driver’s seat.

Gu Bei couldn’t help muttering, “I don’t want anything to do with your Miss Ye; you keep her to yourself.”

As he reached for the passenger door, it suddenly “click,” the door locked.

Shen Yan had locked the car.

“Damn it, Shen Yan, this is my car!” Gu Bei couldn’t help but curse.

Ignoring him, Shen Yan started the engine and drove off.

All Gu Bei was left with was the taillights of the car fading into the distance.

Gu Bei: “…”

Truly speechless.

If he had known, he wouldn’t have given the keys to Shen Yan.

Gu Bei stood in place, a look of regret on his face, then he took out his phone and called a Didi.

Su Yu waited for Mr. Chen the whole morning, but he was nowhere to be seen.

When Su Yu tried calling Mr. Chen, he didn’t answer.

Feeling helpless, Su Yu shared the situation with Chu Yao.

“It shouldn’t be a problem; maybe Mr. Chen had something come up,” Chu Yao reassured Su Yu.

Su Yu smiled, “Maybe.”

She wasn’t too concerned about this particular deal with Mr. Chen.

In the afternoon, another group of clients came to make a payment.

While Su Yu was finalizing the paperwork with the clients, a hand suddenly reached out from behind.

Startled, Su Yu turned around and saw Mr. Chen, his face flushed, looking at her.

Su Yu caught a whiff of alcohol and furrowed her brow slightly, “Mr. Chen, have you been drinking?”

Mr. Chen chuckled, “Yes, had a few drinks with friends before coming over.”

Su Yu asked, “How did you get here then?”

“I flew here.” Mr. Chen chuckled.

Su Yu: “…”

It seemed like he had quite a few drinks.

Su Yu asked him to sit on the side and wait for a few minutes; she would be right with him.

In the meantime, she made sure to have the receptionist serve a glass of warm water to Mr. Chen.

After organizing the paperwork for the old clients, Su Yu went to look for Mr. Chen.

Mr. Chen was lounging on the sofa, apparently napping.

Su Yu approached and softly called out to him, “Mr. Chen, are you still feeling okay? If not, we can reschedule for another time.”

Mr. Chen opened his drunken eyes, staring at Su Yu groggily, shaking his head, “No need, let’s go see the properties now.”

Since he insisted, Su Yu didn’t push further.

She led Mr. Chen, whose state of inebriation she wasn’t sure of, to the sand table area and the model house.

Pointing at one of the models, Mr. Chen asked Su Yu, “How big is this layout?”

“172 square meters, it’s the largest layout,” Su Yu replied.

“Then this one, show me the show unit,” Mr. Chen’s speech was slightly slurred due to the alcohol.
