Chapter 9 Impulse
Su Yu was speechless.
Mu Ran added, “He’s handsome, but his temper isn’t great. He easily gets angry, and whenever my WeChat alerts, he starts getting suspicious. I couldn’t stand it, so I ended it.”
Mu Ran felt uncomfortable at the thought of Zhou Wenhao. She felt like her mental health was deteriorating during that time. A handsome guy with a few screws loose.
Su Yu clinked glasses with Mu Ran and took a sip of wine.
Mu Ran continued, “I added a handsome guy on a social platform recently, and it turns out he’s a player. Do you know? Just by looking at his activity in the friend circle, I saw him liking posts from many women. The social circle is too small; we have quite a few mutual friends.”
Mu Ran didn’t tell Su Yu that she had asked some friends in the crew to help her get his WeChat by messaging him privately.
All of them got responses, and the crew members even teased her, “Your husband replied.”
That night when she got his WeChat, she laughed for a while. They chatted well at first, but things quickly turned sour. She saw him liking and commenting on several friends’ posts in her feed.
She even messaged a friend to ask if she knew him, and the friend said they had just met on social media.
Damn, this guy was a real player, accepting anyone!
“When will you settle down? Every time I see you, you have a different man by your side,” Su Yu joked. “If you were a man, I’d be worried about your stamina.”
Mu Ran playfully glared at Su Yu. “What are you talking about?” Taking another sip of wine, she added, “While I’m young, I want to enjoy the company of several men, and it’s not like I’m doing it for free.”
Most of the men she dated were rich, good-looking second-generation heirs. She didn’t feel like she was losing anything; she got what she wanted, and material satisfaction made her happier than hollow declarations of love.
Some people might disapprove of Mu Ran’s lifestyle, but she didn’t care. Her life belonged to her, and as long as she was happy, that was all that mattered.
She enjoyed living freely and detested any form of constraint.
Su Yu shook her head, glancing at Mu Ran with a faint smile.
Sometimes she envied Mu Ran’s carefree attitude.
Bold and uninhibited, completely unconstrained.
Taking a bite of grilled tofu, Mu Ran looked at Su Yu. “Stop talking about me. What about you? Planning to stay single forever?”
Su Yu raised an eyebrow. “Why, do you think I should find a man?”
Shrugging, Mu Ran, with her mouth still full, mumbled, “I think you should consider it. Having a man can be quite nice.”
Su Yu chuckled, “Well, then, why don’t you set me up with someone?”
Mu Ran thought for a moment after swallowing her food. “I don’t think I have someone suitable for you. You probably wouldn’t like them. Besides, you have a bunch of men waiting in line for you. I suggest you find someone gentle and caring, so you can worry less.”
Su Yu waved her hand. “Forget it, I think being alone is fine.”
She didn’t want to endure the pain of love; men would only slow down her progress.
She wanted to save up enough money to buy a house in Haicheng, then get a cat and live the life she wanted. Love was no longer in her plans.
Being alone was good; it brought freedom with a hint of loneliness.
She preferred the freedom of solitude over a life dictated by others, finding solace in being left alone.
Mu Ran poured more wine into their glasses and handed one to Su Yu. “Being alone isn’t all that great. When you experience the joy of being with a man, you won’t say that anymore.”
Su Yu took a sip of wine. “What kind of joy are you talking about?”
Mu Ran thought for a moment. “Like in a certain aspect, it can be quite enjoyable, hehe, you know what I mean.”
With a mischievous grin, Mu Ran winked at Su Yu.
Understanding her implication, Su Yu scolded with a smile, “Get out of here.”
“Hahaha.” Mu Ran finished her drink in one go. “It’s been so long since we’ve had a drink and a chat like this.”
When she was with Su Yu, she felt relaxed and stress-free, like she had returned to their school days.
Back then, she hadn’t been heartbroken by love.
Watching Mu Ran’s radiant smile, Su Yu’s lips curved into a warm smile.
Thinking about Mu Ran’s mention of experiencing the joy of men, Shen Yan’s face flashed in her mind, along with some intimate moments.
It seemed… kind of joyful.
“What are you thinking? Why is your face so red?” Mu Ran stared at Su Yu curiously, trying to figure her out.
Coming back to reality, Su Yu’s face seemed abnormal. She coughed slightly to cover it up. “It’s nothing, maybe the wine is too strong.”
“Nonsense, this beer is only 8%, when did your alcohol tolerance become so bad?” Mu Ran scoffed, as if she had figured something out, “Su Yu, are you thinking about something naughty?”
Mu Ran teased with a couple of clicks of her tongue.
Su Yu pulled out a tissue, wiping off the oil stains on her hands.
Mu Ran huffed, “You’ve known me for a while now, you should know what’s in my head.”
“You can say anything.”
“What I say is the truth!” Mu Ran grumbled discontentedly.
Su Yu smiled.
After eating for a while, they decided to leave.
Su Yu stood up, grabbed her bag, and said, “Are you coming over to sleep tonight?”
Mu Ran also stood up, letting out a satisfied burp. “No, I’m afraid I’ll hog the bed later. I’ll go back to the hotel to sleep.”
Mu Ran didn’t sleep well after drinking.
Su Yu didn’t insist. “Alright, I’ve been drinking, can’t drive. Call a car to take you back to the hotel.”
“Ok.” Mu Ran gestured, “Take care, remember to be safe.”
Su Yu nodded, watching Mu Ran get into the car before walking towards her own car.
The streets were quiet in the early hours, with only a few scattered cars and hardly any pedestrians.
The streetlights cast an orange glow on the road.
After waiting a while, the designated driver finally arrived.
Su Yu got into the car, and as it started moving, she was enveloped by the night.
The atmosphere inside the car was heavy, and Su Yu leaned against the window, watching the street scenes pass by, her thoughts drifting.
She seemed to have had a crush on someone, but she had never been in a relationship. Despite never dating, she had experienced a one-night stand.
And she was the one who initiated it.
The feeling was… different.
Thinking of that man, a faint smile played on Su Yu’s lips.
The car stopped in the apartment’s parking spot, and the designated driver got out to retrieve his small electric bike.
Su Yu sat in the back seat, staring at the dark night outside, feeling a sudden urge.
She rummaged through her bag, found the note from before, and dialed the number on it.
Clutching her phone, she felt a strange nervousness for some reason.
The phone rang for a while without being answered, and Su Yu thought it was too late and the person must be asleep. She was about to put down her phone when, at that moment, the call was finally answered.
A deep, hoarse voice came through the phone, “Hello?”
