Chapter 24 Does It Hurt?
As soon as Su Yu finished speaking, the other short, fat men also rushed forward, armed with whatever they could find.
“Get him!”
The man who was lying on the ground saw his brothers coming and immediately got up from the ground. He quickly yelled.
Su Yu’s temper also flared up. She wasn’t going to back down. She grabbed an empty wine bottle and smashed it directly on the table. The bottle was left with only a stub. Su Yu raised it and waved it in front of the men who were charging towards her, threatening, “If you come any closer, I’ll die right in front of you!”
The few short, fat men stopped in their tracks and looked at each other.
The man who had just been beaten up stood up, his face full of ferocity as he wiped the blood from his nose that Shen Yan had hit. “Kill them both!”
Shen Yan had beaten him up like that, how could he swallow that? His heart was now filled with nothing but resentment and anger. He wanted revenge.
Seeing this, his brothers immediately surrounded Su Yu and Shen Yan.
For a while, the people in the bar were completely hiding far away, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire.
Su Yu glanced around at the crowd with disappointment, a sense of desolation welling up inside her.
Everyone didn’t want to get involved. From the beginning to now, they had been watching her get beaten, but no one was willing to step forward and help her, not even a word of consolation.
“When you get a chance, run first, someone must have called the police.” Shen Yan leaned close to Su Yu’s ear and told her.
Su Yu looked at Shen Yan, “What about you?”
“I’ll find a way to get away, you leave first.” Shen Yan said in a low voice.
He didn’t want Su Yu to get hurt again.
There was no time to hesitate now, Su Yu nodded.
The men in the flowery shirts didn’t give them a chance to speak. The music in the bar, mixed with the sound of shattering glass, assaulted everyone’s eardrums.
Su Yu and Shen Yan used the advantage of the booth’s position to fight off the men in flowery shirts.
Many booths had been destroyed beyond recognition, and the whole scene was chaotic.
The screams of the onlookers could also be heard from time to time.
Su Yu seized an opportunity and smashed another wine bottle hard against the man’s head. This time, blood began to flow from the man’s head.
Su Yu took the opportunity to run out of the bar and towards the elevator. The man who had beaten her also followed her out.
“You think you can escape today?” The man roared in anger, stumbling after her.
Su Yu frantically pressed the elevator button. At the same time, the elevator door opened, revealing several police officers.
In an instant, Su Yu was so happy that tears welled up in her eyes, “Help me, someone is trying to kill me!”
Su Yu hid behind a police officer and pointed at the man who was chasing after her.
The man didn’t expect anyone to call the police. His face changed, and he turned to run back, but it was too late. Several police officers pushed him to the ground and subdued him.
“Officer, there are a few of his accomplices inside, my friend is still inside.” Su Yu said urgently, her eyes filled with worry as she stared into the bar.
The police officer responded. Several other police officers quickly rushed into the bar.
“Shen Yan!”
Shen Yan was surrounded by four men. Although he wasn’t as big as the few short, fat men, his height gave him an advantage. In the crowd, he was the only one who looked exceptionally tall and handsome.
He remained expressionless, his eyes coldly sweeping over the few short, fat men. They had just engaged in a brief clash, and Shen Yan still had some bloodstains on him, but it didn’t affect his coldness, but instead added a wild, unrestrained quality to him.
Hearing Su Yu call him, he just moved his ears, but didn’t turn around to acknowledge her. He continued to face off against the few short, fat men.
“Don’t move, police!”
Several police officers drew their guns and shouted at the few short, fat men.
The few short, fat men, who had been arrogant and domineering, immediately wilted. As soon as they saw the guns, they immediately cowered, dropping the wine bottles in their hands and not daring to move again.
“Put your hands on your head and squat down!” The police officer shouted.
The few short, fat men dared not disobey and obediently squatted down.
Seeing this scene, the stone in Su Yu’s heart finally settled. She rushed over and grabbed Shen Yan’s arm, asking with concern, “Are you okay? Are you seriously injured anywhere?”
Shen Yan shook his head, “I’m fine.” He looked at Su Yu, reached out, and touched the injury near her ear, “Does it hurt?”
Su Yu didn’t even realize that she had an injury near her ear. When Shen Yan mentioned it, she felt pain. She pretended to be relaxed, “No, it doesn’t hurt.”
Su Yu stared at Shen Yan, a hint of complexity flashing in her eyes.
Even though he was injured himself, he was still worried about her.
——
Because both Su Yu and Shen Yan were injured, the police first sent them to the hospital. After their wounds were examined and treated, the police questioned them about what happened and then left the hospital.
Su Yu felt guilty towards Shen Yan for everything that happened tonight, after all, it was because of her that he got hurt.
“I’m sorry, it’s my fault.” Su Yu stared at Shen Yan and said seriously.
Shen Yan lifted his eyelids, a faint smile curving his lips, “Why do you think that? It was that rotten scum who needed to be taken down. If I had just stood by and watched, I wouldn’t be able to do it. Just think of it as a hero saving the beauty.”
Shen Yan’s tone was light, as if he didn’t care about the injury.
This made Su Yu feel even more guilty.
Su Yu pursed her lips, “No matter what, thank you tonight.”
“Forget the thanks.” Shen Yan reached out to take his cigarette case, “When I’m healed, you can buy me a meal.”
Su Yu immediately nodded in agreement, “No problem.”
Shen Yan pulled out a cigarette, held it between his fingers, and with his other hand, he searched his pants pocket for a lighter. He even pulled out the entire pocket, but still couldn’t find it.
“My lighter must have been left there, do you have one?” Shen Yan turned his head and asked Su Yu.
Su Yu rummaged through her handbag and pulled out a lighter, handing it to him.
“Light it for me.” Shen Yan held the cigarette between his lips and waited for Su Yu to light it.
If it were before, Su Yu might have just thrown it to him and let him light it himself.
But tonight, she had no reason to refuse him.
“Okay.” Su Yu softly agreed, picked up the lighter, and put it to Shen Yan’s lips, lighting it.
Shen Yan took a puff, exhaled a smoke ring, “Thank you.”
Su Yu didn’t speak, she just quietly looked at Shen Yan.
After a while, Shen Yan suddenly said, “This small injury isn’t worth wasting resources in the hospital, let’s go.”
Su Yu wanted to say something, but Shen Yan got up and pulled her up, “Don’t say anything.”
“…” Su Yu held back the words she was about to blurt out.
Shen Yan’s hand was warm, and when he held her tightly, she felt inexplicably comforted.
Su Yu looked up, just meeting Shen Yan’s deep, smiling peach blossom eyes, her heart skipped a beat again. She quickly averted her gaze and looked forward, “Then let’s go.”
Su Yu’s small movements caught Shen Yan’s eye, a faint smile curved his lips, his eyes became even deeper.
