{“He’s anxious! He’s anxious!” 1}
“Isn’t that right, Ms. Yu?”
These words had echoed in Yu Suyue’s ears for what felt like a century, while the man before her, exuding an aura of restraint, patiently awaited her response.
She felt as if an invisible hat had been placed atop her head by Bian Yuan, subtly and without her consent.
Of course, she wanted to stubbornly defend herself; after all, she was just an ordinary person. How could an ordinary person be “selflessly devoted” to such an extent?
She wasn’t Bian Yixing’s biological mother.
But then, Bian Yixing transformed from her tearful self into someone who flashed a long-lost smile.
It was as if, amidst the misty mountains, the sky suddenly cleared.
“Susu… I didn’t expect you to love me this much, to be willing to sacrifice for Xingxing.”
Yu Suyue’s heart sank.
She had planned to eagerly rush to the big shot’s side, explaining her actual financial situation and some uncontrollable life factors. But seeing the adorable child so delighted by this “false” show of affection made her reluctant to shatter that happiness.
The adult world is cruel.
But children don’t have to experience it.
She wanted to preserve a beautiful childhood for Xingxing.
However, without the big shot’s money, wouldn’t she be just a cheap laborer being “exploited” by this father-daughter duo?
Yu Suyue didn’t have time to think it over deeply.
Amidst the astonished crowd, Bian Yuan quickly adjusted his demeanor, returning to his usual work mindset and asking about the criteria for investment choices.
Bian Yuan handled the matter smoothly, his attitude perfectly devoid of any warmth. The executives felt he was a ruthless capitalist, exploiting them daily, and even his daughter’s teacher wasn’t spared.
The poor girl was still a college student, working for Bian Yuan without pay at such a young age.
Everyone was taken aback, becoming particularly serious about the details to avoid any mistakes that might jeopardize their salaries, let alone their year-end bonuses.
Yu Suyue thought the man had completely moved on, but unexpectedly, his cold gaze, while inspecting the scene, sent her a message.
In the midst of his busy schedule, the capitalist quietly said to her, “Don’t leave yet. There’s a newly opened KFC on the first floor. I’ll come by later.”
But as she turned to observe him, there was no sign of distraction in his demeanor.
Yu Suyue thought to herself, “You can dream if you think there’s money.”
The flexible fingers sent a message back: “I’ll do as you say.”
Yu Suyue turned to her roommates and said, “I have a few things to take care of, how about I stay behind?”
It was unclear why her roommates suddenly seemed so understanding at that moment. The dorm leader smiled without speaking, casting a curious glance between Yusuyue and Bian Yuan.
Yu Ssuyue expected her roommates to distance themselves from Bian Yixing afterward.
However, the reality was quite different.
They increasingly sympathized with Xingxing’s situation, believing that a child who could “give up such a privileged life to be with them” was definitely not a snobbish kid.
Yu Ssuyue watched as Song Yuren and the others said their reluctant goodbyes to Xingxing.
As for her own upcoming confrontation with the capitalist, they showed little concern, merely urging her to take care of herself.
The dorm leader’s smile held a hint of mystery, as if waiting to see how she would handle Bian Yuan.
Before long, they grouped up and left.
In the KFC on the ground floor, only the carefree girl immersed in her “unconditional” love remained, along with a bored Yu Suyue.
A quarter of an hour later, the man arrived as promised.
Just then, the child, exhausted from a few rounds of “up and down,” indicated that she was ready to order.
The big shot, sitting nearby, didn’t seem out of place in the bright children’s area, as if he often came here. He lifted Bian Yixing from the play area, letting her find her shoes in the cubby.
The little girl hovered in the air, searching for her pink crystal shoes.
And the man didn’t let her feet touch the ground for a moment.
The two of them worked together seamlessly, and soon the girl found her shoes, landing steadily on the floor.
Yu Suyue suddenly felt her role was somewhat unnecessary.
But just then, the big shot turned back, his dark, understated suit contrasting sharply with his seemingly casual words—
In a slightly relaxed tone, he asked, “How about you go buy us some food?”
Wait, was he really expecting her to be selfless? After spending this three thousand, was there really no other compensation? Why should she pay for the two of them?
In broad daylight, how could someone say such “shameless” things?
But the little girl didn’t understand; she simply jumped up excitedly and exclaimed, “I want a Beijing chicken wrap, a piece of original crispy chicken, and two egg tarts, plus a large cola!”
“I feel the same,” Bian Yuan said, his brow unwrinkled, speaking to her as if he had anticipated she wouldn’t refuse at all.
Yu Suyue couldn’t understand how a billionaire CEO could have the audacity to ask her to foot the bill.
Yet she found herself instinctively unwilling to disappoint someone else’s child.
Yu Suyue pulled out her phone and scanned the QR code on the dining table.
At this point, she could barely manage a smile.
After placing the order for the father and daughter, she was left with just a small chocolate sundae for herself.
However, as soon as the ice cream arrived, the little one snatched it away.
Yu Suyue was stunned—was their familiarity a bit excessive?
She had previously thought that the boss, willing to pay in advance at the KTV, was a refined and considerate person, but now, right in front of her, he was extravagantly using her funds.
