Chapter 27: Why Is It a Man??
In a private room, Yan Wangxing sat by the window, surrounded by exquisite delicacies and fine wine. With an arm draped over each side, he held two enchanting beauties, indulging in his desires.
“Master, would you like to taste the wine first, or perhaps try me first?” The woman in blue on his right leaned against his chest, her voice husky and seductive.
“I’ll have both,” Yan Wangxing replied, his eyes gleaming with desire as he squeezed her soft waist.
The beauty playfully glared at him. “Master, you’re quite greedy~” She chuckled, downing a cup of wine before leaning in to kiss him.
Yan Wangxing drank the wine, now infused with the fragrance of her lips. His face flushed slightly as the two beauties giggled, brushing their sleeves as they departed, letting their red gauze robes fall to the ground. The air was filled with music…
As night deepened, Yan Wangxing downed the last drop of wine in his cup and carelessly tossed one of the beauties to the ground, scattering several hundred gold and silver coins.
The two women scrambled to gather the money, almost fighting each other.
“Bring me the most beautiful, the most skilled girls you have,” he slurred, propping his chin up, his tone lazy and drenched in alcohol.
The madam, hearing this, rushed out, flattering him with a smile. “Yes, my lord, wait a moment, I’ll bring you the most stunning girls we have!”
Before long, the madam returned, bringing with her three gorgeously dressed women. One tall, one slim, all far more stunning than any other girls in the establishment.
The beauty on the left had striking features, bold and heroic in her looks. The one on the right exuded a cool, ethereal charm, while the last, though sweetly pretty, caught Yan Wangxing’s gaze and caused his expression to change instantly.
“You… forget it, I don’t like children.” He waved dismissively, his disdain barely hidden.
Chu Sang, who had just put away her puppet talisman, was speechless upon hearing this highly insulting remark.
Her fist clenched. I’m just not fully grown yet! This dog of a demon king has no taste.
“You two look quite good, stay.” A gleam of interest flashed in Yan Wangxing’s eyes.
Unable to contain himself, he stood up, walking directly in front of the two, his gaze lingering on Tantai Ming. He even reached out, giving the full curve a squeeze. “Tsk, a real treasure.”
Fearing that their disguise might be seen through, Tantai Ming had padded his chest with two steamed buns. “…”
Damn! This demon king’s right hand is mine to chop off later!
Yan Wangxing then moved in front of Mo Qingchen, whose face was undoubtedly cold and elegant, carrying the novel’s title of “most handsome.” Especially in his eyes, there was an innate arrogance, as if all beings were beneath him, indifferent to everything and everyone. This haughty temper only made Yan Wangxing more enthralled.
He lifted Mo Qingchen’s chin with one hand, licking his lips. “A bit flat, but the face—just perfect. I love taming wild ones like you. When you cry later, it’ll be soul-stirring!”
Mo Qingchen’s expression darkened like a storm, his eyes so menacing they could kill.
Seeing he was about to draw his sword, Chu Sang quickly stepped forward, pouring a cup of wine and offering it. “Master, haste makes waste. How about having this warm wine first, then let the two sisters entertain you?”
Yan Wangxing, itching with impatience, snatched the wine cup and gulped it down, tossing it aside with a clatter.
He reached out to wrap his arm around Mo Qingchen’s waist, even playfully brushing his finger against his nose. “Little beauty, stay with me tonight. I promise to treat you well…”
The reply was the sound of a sharp sword unsheathing—
“Courting death!” The voice was as cold as ice.
The moment the “beauty” spoke, Yan Wangxing’s eyes widened in shock, his face twisted.
What? A man?!
His expression changed instantly, dodging the attack. He then saw the other beauty tear off her robe and draw a sword. She too was a tall and lean male cultivator.
“Disgusting!” Tantai Ming, covered in goosebumps, swung his sword wildly at Yan Wangxing’s right hand.
Even in his drunken state, Yan Wangxing quickly realized he’d been fooled by these people!
Damn it!
“So, you’re from one of the Eight Great Immortal Sects. Do you really think you can capture me with just the few of you?” He sneered arrogantly, his laugh wild.
A wave of demonic energy blasted the two away!
Infuriated that his pleasant night was ruined, and disgusted by these men, Yan Wangxing was livid. However, still wary from the last time the Eight Great Immortal Sects hunted him down, he suspected that reinforcements might be on their way.
He didn’t want to prolong the fight. After fending off the two, he transformed into a mass of black demonic energy, crashing through the roof in an attempt to escape.
But as he flew into the air, he was suddenly stopped by a barrier. Below, dozens of sect disciples had already surrounded him, their eyes full of danger. Yan Wangxing’s gaze narrowed—so, they had set a trap here in advance, with an formation already in place?!
Behind him, Tantai Ming and Mo Qingchen gave chase, swords in hand.
Chu Sang quickly evacuated all the civilians from the building. Outside, disciples of the Baxiang Sect had already set up a teleportation array. Once activated, it would transport everyone to safety.
Despite the demon King’s overwhelming strength, even with Mo Qingchen and Tantai Ming joining forces, they could barely hold their own. The disciples of the Myriad Sword Sect assisted, but the gap in power was too great. They could only manage to delay him for a moment.
Yan Wangxing originally intended to leave quickly, to avoid confronting the Immortal Sect’s elders. But as the battle dragged on, his anger flared. Why not finish this quickly and kill them all!
As for the formation, he, a mighty demon King, could break it by sheer force!
“A bunch of irritating ants. If you wish to die, don’t blame me for being ruthless!” A large mass of demonic energy gathered in his palm, growing stronger and stronger. His once handsome features were now twisted with malevolent fury.
The disciples stood ready for battle. For over ten thousand years, the demon clan had repeatedly invaded the cultivation realm. Though always repelled, their relentless attacks had taken a heavy toll.
And despite their history of conflict, the cultivators had never once dared to invade the demon realm to exterminate them—because the demonic energy severely harmed cultivators’ bodies.
When facing demons of equal power, a cultivator might struggle to wound them, while the demons could easily cause severe harm.
Not to mention, the disparity in strength now was enormous. Yan Wangxing’s next move could wipe out everyone here.
Yet, just as he was gathering strength, there was a sudden “bang!”—and his energy dissipated.
Not only were the disciples shocked, but Yan Wangxing himself was dumbfounded.
What… what just happened?
He frowned, trying to gather his strength again, but his body felt weak and limp, entirely powerless.
A sharp sword light from Mo Qingchen slashed across his back, drawing thick, dark red blood.
“…” Yan Wangxing looked at his trembling hands, fury overtaking him. What’s happening to me??!
“Demon King, was tonight’s spring night memorable?”
Chu Sang smiled sweetly at him, harmless as could be. “How did you like the flower wine I personally brewed?”
“Wine? You… you tricked me!”
Only now did Yan Wangxing remember the wine he had just drunk. These despicable cultivators must have done something to it. But why hadn’t he sensed it at all?
You could question Sixth Senior Brother’s pill-making skills, but never doubt his poison crafting.
This was Mu Chihuai’s special soft bone powder, two and a half years in the making—colorless, tasteless, and completely dissolves in water.
The drug was so potent that even Yan Wangxing, already intoxicated, didn’t notice it.
However, the Soft Bone Powder needed some time to take full effect. Normally, this brief time wouldn’t be enough, so Chu Sang deliberately brought Mo Qingchen and Tantai Ming to spar with him, giving him some exercise to help the drug act faster.
The disciples of the Eight Great Immortal Sects drew their swords one by one, intent on slaying the wicked demon. Qin Xixue tried to retreat, taking advantage of the crowd, but was spotted by Shang Ziling, who immediately grabbed her. “Where are you going? Are you trying to run away?”
Qin Xixue stammered, clearly looking guilty. “I—I wasn’t running…”
Shang Ziling frowned, her voice harsh. “If you’re not running, why are you backing off?”
“I’ve noticed you since the beginning,” she said. “You’ve been dodging and acting suspicious. Just now, you even tried to sneak away. Aren’t you a sword cultivator from the Tianyan Sect? Why are you losing your nerve now?”
This commotion quickly drew attention.
“It’s you!” Yan Wangxing exclaimed, his face full of disbelief. “You’re a disciple of the Eight Great Immortal Sects s?”
As if realizing something, his eyes turned red with rage. Gritting his teeth, he spat, “So, you were in league with them all along! Pretending to bump into me earlier was part of the plan, wasn’t it? You lured me here, right into this ambush set by the immortal sects!”
Qin Xixue tried to explain, but Chu Sang cut in. “Exactly! Thanks to our junior sister, we wouldn’t have caught you so easily without her help!”
Grinning, Chu Sang grabbed Qin Xixue’s hand, meeting her incredulous gaze with a soft smile. “When we get back, the sect will surely reward our junior sister well. I wonder how many rare treasures she’ll receive. I’m so envious!”
Qin Xixue was livid, clenching her teeth. Who’s your junior sister? She was nothing but a useless waste expelled from the sect long ago, yet here she was trying to claim kinship.
Yan Wangxing became even more convinced of his suspicions, his fury burning hotter. His eyes glared at Qin Xixue with such hatred that it seemed like they could turn her into a pincushion. “You dare deceive me?”
Qin Xixue was at a loss for words. No matter what she said now, Yan Wangxing wouldn’t believe her.
There was nothing Yan Wangxing despised more in this life than betrayal and deceit!
“You think this is enough to trap me? How ridiculous!” Yan Wangxing sneered, his body beginning to swell up, his skin turning bright red, and his veins bulging. “A group of mere Foundation Establishment and Core Formation ants, dreaming of killing me? You’ll all pay with your lives for this stupidity!”
“He’s trying to self-destruct!” Ling Yu exclaimed, his face changing dramatically. He tried to stop him, but couldn’t get close.
Yan Wangxing formed a massive vortex around himself, black demonic energy swirling violently. His body swelled several times over from absorbing too much demonic energy, his skin turning bright red, and the green veins on his body bulged as if ready to burst.
“Sect reinforcements are on the way, but we need to hold him off as long as possible!” someone shouted.
“We can’t hold him off with our strength. He’s going to self-destruct, and this formation won’t contain him!” Lin Jing was pale with fear.
The group stood ready, but they were helpless, beads of sweat formed on their foreheads.
Chu Sang, however, remained calm. She still had a teleportation talisman and could leave with her two senior brothers at any time.
She didn’t have much of a connection with the Eight Great Immortal Sects s, and the memories she did have weren’t good. But… well, she was a good person, after all. Might as well help these unfortunate sects score some points.
As the demonic energy exploded, the group quickly fled the barrier.
The demonic energy raged violently within the barrier.
The barrier trembled, and within a few breaths, cracks spread across its surface like a spider web.
It wouldn’t hold much longer.
If the demonic energy broke free, it wouldn’t just be them—it would destroy the entire city.
“This barrier won’t last much longer. It needs to be repaired,” Chu Sang remarked.
“Repair it?”
Lin Jing yelled in frustration, “Are you joking? This is an advanced formation! How can it be repaired just like that?”
“Even if it could be repaired, can’t you see how fast the demonic energy is destroying it? How could we repair it faster than it’s breaking?”
“So, even a formation genius like you has their limits,” Chu Sang said, feigning surprise.
Lin Jing’s face turned beet red, humiliation written all over him. “So what if I can’t do it? No one in the world could!”
“What if I can?” Chu Sang countered.
“If you can, I’ll kneel and call you ‘Grandfather!'” He sneered.
Chu Sang’s face twisted in disgust, “Please don’t. I wouldn’t want such an unfilial descendant.”
“You—”
Before the youth could retort, Chu Sang, feeling thoroughly satisfied, approached the formation.
“Step aside,” she said, “I’m about to show off.”
Everyone: “???”
Before they could react to what she meant, they saw her slender fingers flying so fast they became mere afterimages. She swiftly cast dozens of inscriptions, each one landing precisely on the cracks in the barrier.
Then, she pulled out a talisman, casually drawing an enhanced Strength Talisman on the spot, which she pasted at the formation’s core—immediately boosting the barrier’s defense fivefold.
The disciples of the Baxiang Sect stared wide-eyed. The symbols she’d just used—those were their sect’s runes!
“When did you learn our sect’s runes?” Lin Jing cried out.
“I picked it up while you were setting up the formation earlier. Just took a quick look, that’s all.” Chu Sang tried to sound modest, but the truth was, geniuses are always lonely.
Lin Jing’s eyes bulged, his fingers trembling. He couldn’t even find the words to respond. How… how was that possible??
This wasn’t just any formation—it was a high-level one created by their sect’s Grand Elder! He himself had taken three whole months to learn it, and even then, he had failed ten times before finally succeeding.
But this woman had merely glanced at it, and she had memorized such an intricate and complex rune…
Cui Xiu, standing nearby, fell into deep thought, his eyes fixed on Chu Sang. Which sect was she from? He had never heard of anyone like her.
“So… did we succeed? Is that demon King dead?” Lin Qi didn’t understand the intricacies of the formation like the others. His voice was full of lingering fear as he asked the only thing that mattered to him.
“It was just a clone,” Chu Sang replied indifferently. “Yan Wangxing’s true body is still in the Demon Realm.”
