Sun Tu was a bit speechless after hearing what He Qing said. “So you’ve gone from one extreme to another?” He Qing never fails to surprise!
He Qing looked at him, “Dual cultivation is also a form of training.” He frowned slightly, troubled, “But the General has been really busy lately, so we’ve stopped for a few days.”
Sun Tu’s mouth twitched, “Oh… keep working on it.” Oh no! Should he tell He Qing that Duan Chenhui is a human? Even if he’s an Enigma (E), he can’t handle doing it every day!
But how Duan Chenhui is doing is none of his business, so he absolutely wouldn’t tell He Qing that!
Sun Tu smiled, “Maybe you could buy him a gift to take back.”
He Qing thought that made sense. “I’ll buy a gift when I head back. If the General is happy, maybe he’ll agree.”
Sun Tu sipped his tea quietly, suddenly feeling quite pleased.
He Qing stood up to bid him farewell, and on his way back, he wandered around a weapons shop. He looked at the blades but felt they weren’t good enough.
The shop owner approached and asked, “What kind of blade are you looking for, sir? We also have other items besides blades.”
He Qing scanned the weapons and suddenly noticed a suit of armor. “What’s the story behind this armor?”
The shop owner smiled and said, “It’s said to have been unearthed from an ancient tomb. An adventurer sold it to me because no one wanted it. I repaired it, and I think it looks quite impressive. It likely belonged to a general.”
“I’ll take it.” He Qing touched the armor, and the spirit stone embedded in it suddenly glowed.
He Qing was stunned and looked around. Everything was covered in a white mist, and a white figure drifted by, whispering, “We want to go home…”
“Who are you? Where do you want to go? The Cultivation Realm?” He Qing asked, but the lingering consciousness suddenly dissipated, indicating the person was already very weak.
He Qing blinked, returning to reality, as the shop owner continued speaking, “You’ve got a good eye, sir. Where shall I send it? I’ll wrap it up.”
He Qing snapped back to attention. “I’ll store it in my space.”
“Alright, just swipe your card here,” the shop owner said cheerfully. “Is it for the General?”
“Mm…” He Qing nodded, but since this armor belonged to someone else, he wouldn’t be giving it to Duan Chenhui.
After making the purchase, He Qing thought it would be more practical to forge some armor himself for Duan Chenhui.
Although he bought the armor, he couldn’t give it as a gift, so He Qing returned home empty-handed. When he got home, he saw Duan Chenhui sitting on the sofa.
Duan Chenhui glanced back and asked, “You’re back? Where did you go?”
“I went to visit Sun Tu.” He Qing sat down next to him and told him about what had happened, even taking out the armor. “It seems like they want to return to the Cultivation Realm.”
Duan Chenhui pondered, “Do you have a way?”
“We’ll have to start by searching ancient tombs. Are there any nearby?” He Qing opened up the network.
Duan Chenhui turned to look at him. “We’ve discovered many ancient tombs, but it’s like searching for a needle in a haystack.”
“We can compare the patterns. Maybe we’ll find something,” He Qing flipped through page after page.
Duan Chenhui nodded, opening up his own access to search. He suddenly remembered he still hadn’t felt any spiritual energy… which meant they couldn’t go to the Cultivation Realm.
He Qing searched all night without finding anything. After his bath that evening, he sighed as he lay on the bed, “Looks like it’ll have to wait for fate.”
Duan Chenhui walked over and sat beside him, “I’ll have Central Intelligence run an analysis. Maybe we’ll have an answer by tomorrow.”
Speaking of Central Intelligence, He Qing hugged his pillow and absentmindedly stroked it. “Your Central Intelligence seems to have awakened its spirit, but it just doesn’t have a body.”
Duan Chenhui was startled, “What?”
“It’s awakened,” He Qing said, meeting his eyes.
Duan Chenhui rubbed his forehead, “Then it’s not really suitable to remain as Central Intelligence.”
“I think so too,” He Qing nodded. “It already has a human heart.”
“But it’s hard to find a replacement for now, so we’ll keep using it,” Duan Chenhui thought he should urge the research institute to move faster. After saying that, he turned off the light, “Let’s sleep.”
“…” In the darkness, He Qing fumbled around, got up, took off his robe, and hugged Duan Chenhui’s shoulder, “General, aren’t we going to dual cultivate tonight?”
“…” Duan Chenhui’s eyelid twitched. Why did He Qing sound so much like a wife complaining about her husband’s lack of performance? And he even undressed as if to seduce him…
Duan Chenhui pressed his hand on He Qing’s shoulder, “He Qing, you haven’t been watching anything lately, have you?” He hoped Sun Tu hadn’t shown him any strange videos!
“No,” He Qing replied, confused, as he leaned closer.
Duan Chenhui was relieved, smiling as he pinched He Qing’s chin, “You used to refuse me in every possible way.”
He Qing chuckled, “But now we’re doing it openly and legitimately, right?”
“True.” Duan Chenhui couldn’t deny that he was being seduced again, and another night of chaos ensued.
The next morning, Duan Chenhui woke up, holding his waist as he looked down at the sleeping He Qing. That beautiful and otherworldly face… the contrast was startling. He almost started to doubt whether He Qing had been pretending to be shy before.
Duan Chenhui leaned against the headboard, trying to sense something, but there was still no sign of spiritual energy. He suddenly felt a bit disappointed.
“General, you’re awake?” He Qing mumbled as he groggily moved closer, hugging him.
Duan Chenhui stroked his hair, looking at his slightly flushed face and thinking, he really is a spirit.
“I’m awake. You can sleep a bit more,” Duan Chenhui said, but then he felt something strange in the bed. Startled, he yanked it out and saw a white, wriggling tentacle!
“He Qing, wake up! There’s something in the bed!” Duan Chenhui nearly passed out, ripping off the covers in a panic.
He Qing sat up, innocently holding his own root tendrils, “General, I’m sorry… it’s mine—”
“Tentacles?” Duan Chenhui interrupted him.
“They’re root tendrils!” He Qing corrected him.
Duan Chenhui pointed at the wiggling thing in He Qing’s hands. “Does that look like root tendrils to you?”
“Yeah,” He Qing even held it out for him to see, “Touch it. It’s different from those tentacles.”
Duan Chenhui’s temple throbbed as he reached out to feel it. It was cool to the touch, not slimy, but still felt tentacle-like. He asked He Qing, “Why is this happening?”
“I can’t control it well right now,” He Qing explained as he slowly retracted the root tendrils, “But they’re really useful for absorbing water.”
Duan Chenhui rubbed his forehead, “Let’s hope they’re only used for water absorption…” He got out of bed, and He Qing followed him.
“Let’s go watch Zhang Lin’s competition after breakfast.”
“Alright.” After they finished breakfast, Duan Chenhui went with him.
