Yu Yuanyuan’s muffled protests echoed through the villa, sounding both adorable and pitiful.
Yu Yingze had no interest in paying attention to her, but her pitiful cries were just too much to ignore. He decided to take a glance, just to humor her.
And once he did, he almost burst out laughing.
The already ugly-looking coat her father had pulled over her head now ballooned up like a lantern, completely covering her little head… making her look like a roasted sweet potato.
The puffy Yu Yuanyuan looked more and more like a roasted sweet potato the longer he stared. Except, this one had weird pink frills and an orange flower pinned to the chest.
The added decorations made it even funnier, and his laughter was barely restrained.
“Pfft.” A small laugh escaped before Yu Yingze could stop himself.
He had originally wanted to maintain his cool and intimidating demeanor, hoping to scare Yu Yuanyuan a little so she’d behave in the future. But in just one second, his act crumbled.
Seeing him laugh, even Yu Mingxi couldn’t hold back and started chuckling.
Laughter spread like wildfire—Yu Jinxiao, who usually had an ice-cold expression, also twitched his lips in amusement.
The servants bringing out the food tried hard to control their expressions, holding back their laughter. They couldn’t laugh out loud—it would hurt Miss Yuanyuan’s feelings.
Meanwhile, Yu Yuanyuan, unaware of how ridiculous she looked, blinked in confusion. “Why are you all laughing?”
“It’s nothing, nothing,” Yu Mingxi quickly composed herself, adjusting Yu Yuanyuan’s coat before placing her in a chair, still stifling his laughter.
Yu Yingze, however, flashed an evil grin. “You looked like a roasted sweet potato just now.”
Hah, that ought to make her mad!
Whenever he argued with his classmates, calling them sweet potatoes or potatoes always got them riled up.
Yu Yuanyuan blinked, her black eyes unfocused for about two seconds before she processed that “roasted sweet potato” referred to her.
But instead of getting mad, the little bundle of joy slammed her chubby hand near Yu Mingxi’s plate, exclaiming, “Thank you, Second Brother!”
“?” Now it was Yu Yingze’s turn to be confused.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to go! Shouldn’t she get angry, argue back, and throw a tantrum?
Still stuck on a completely different wavelength, Yu Yuanyuan remembered what her dad had told her: “Looking delicious is also a compliment!”
“Roasted sweet potatoes are super yummy!” she said, grabbing the small spoon in front of her, completely lost in her thoughts about imaginary sweet potatoes. “I had one before—so sweet and fragrant… mmm!”
As she spoke, she started drooling a little.
Yu Jinxiao watched, wondering if Yu Yuanyuan could hypnotize herself before anyone else.
“But roasted sweet potatoes are a bit sticky. My paws always get dirty after I eat them,” Yu Yuanyuan wrinkled her tiny brows and muttered, “I don’t like being dirty.”
Yu Yingze: !!
Perfect. He had found one of Yu Yuanyuan’s weaknesses.
Next time, he could use this weakness… wait, no—he didn’t like being dirty either!
Plan failed. Lifespan: one second.
“Miss Yuanyuan, do you have any favorite foods? Tell Aunty, and I’ll make them for you,” Aunt Chen asked, watching the little one eat so obediently with a smile that never left her face.
Hearing the mention of food, Yu Yuanyuan’s chubby cheeks puffed up with excitement. “Yuanyuan likes fish, likes fairy fruits, likes meat, and likes sweet things!”
Fairy fruits?
Aunt Chen was a bit puzzled by that one.
But fish and meat were easy enough—she was confident in her cooking skills. After all, she had to make tasty, nutritious meals for the three kids of different ages.
“I don’t like fish. I don’t like meat. I don’t like sweets either,” Yu Yingze quickly jumped at the opportunity to tease the little troublemaker.
Yu Yuanyuan was too busy eating to care about his words. Her cheeks were stuffed with rice, but since her second brother was talking, she found the time to respond, “Then what does Second Brother like to eat?”
“I like spicy food—the spicier, the better. Want to try?” Yu Yingze picked up a spicy dish, grinning mischievously like a villain.
