But what could these two dreams mean?
In the first dream, even though little Zhou Zhou seemed to be the bad guy who hurt her dad, he didn’t actually do anything bad.
Could it be because…
A flash of something red flickered through her mind. Ah, she had seen it earlier today when she sneaked into her dad’s study.
That bright red banner representing a good deed!
Yu Yuanyuan’s eyes widened again, “Wow, how are you so smart?”
She had just praised herself out loud.
It must be because her dad didn’t become a bad guy. Instead, he caught human traffickers, did something good, and even bought things for the kids—changing the original storyline.
During her time at the orphanage, Yu Yuanyuan had watched a lot of cartoons on TV.
The plot was always clear to her: good people get rewarded. As long as her dad kept doing good deeds, he’d definitely survive until the end and return to the fairyland with her, reuniting their family!
Although she hadn’t been in this book for long, Yu Yuanyuan was already imagining a perfect, far-off ending.
In her dream, she smiled so broadly that she couldn’t close her mouth, repeatedly praising herself for being so clever.
But within two minutes, the dreamscape changed.
It was a dark, rainy night by the sea. The place was pitch black, and Yu Yuanyuan, scared of the dark, instinctively ran toward a group of people she spotted in the distance.
As she got closer, she realized one of them was her dad.
There were two men she didn’t recognize standing next to him. One of them was kneeling on the ground, and her father’s face was filled with an anger she had never seen before.
The man kneeling was badly injured and was soon dragged onto a speedboat, heading deep into the ocean.
After a long while, she heard a faint splash. When the speedboat returned, only the man who had driven it was left onboard.
The scene shifted again, like watching a drama unfold.
In front of a brightly lit floor-to-ceiling window, her father was drinking something. Suddenly, a figure darted out from behind the cabinet and stabbed him.
Yu Yuanyuan screamed in terror, rushing forward to hit the person who was hurting her dad.
But her tiny fists hit nothing. She was powerless to change any of it.
The attacker had red, bloodshot eyes and wore a hat. His face… was the same man who had disappeared from the boat earlier.
Yu Yuanyuan was still too young and had never encountered much danger in the fairyland.
Her panther father and leopard mother had kept her in a safe and happy environment, far removed from all these messy, dangerous things.
A lot of what she knew now, Yu Yuanyuan had learned only after entering the book and staying at the orphanage.
For example, storylines!
As she cried in her sleep, Yu Yuanyuan’s little brain began to work hard.
There must be another villain trying to harm her dad!
But this version of her dad seemed different from the one in her earlier dreams.
In those dreams, her dad looked older than he did now. But in today’s dream… he looked just like he does now! Even his hair length and clothes felt familiar to the little girl.
“Waaah, Dad, don’t die,” Yu Yuanyuan wailed, “Dad, I’ll save you!”
Yu Jinxiao, having just finished his work in the study, was making his rounds to check on the kids to see if they were sleeping well.
Yu Mingxi was sleeping soundly.
Yu Yingze had kicked off his blanket.
As for Yu Yuanyuan… she was talking in her sleep.
The little girl was whimpering, crying so miserably in her dream.
Curious, Yu Jinxiao bent down to listen more closely to what she was saying, and heard a string of words: “Dad, don’t die.”
Yu Jinxiao: “…”
What a dutiful daughter. Even in her dreams, she couldn’t imagine anything good happening to him.
A loving father and a filial daughter indeed.
