Chapter 113: Buying Her Milk Tea
Qin Mohuai had a habit of going for a morning run, not just to keep fit but also as a form of discipline.
Being in a high position, it wasn’t just about being strategic—he also needed to stay strict with himself. If he let himself slip, the capable Qin family members would quickly replace him, and he’d lose all his power.
The price of indulgence was high, and now that he had Xia Yuan, Qin Mohuai couldn’t allow himself to lose his position.
He wanted to protect Xia Yuan for a lifetime without worries.
Following Qin Mohuai’s orders, Qin Qi walked into the VIP hospital room carrying two breakfast boxes, with He Qin following behind.
While Xia Yuan was still asleep, Qin Mohuai had run around the hospital three or four times. When he returned, she was still sound asleep, so he took a shower.
As he dried his short, coarse black hair with a towel, his deep voice, rough from a sleepless night, said, “Be quiet.”
When Xia Yuan woke up, she reached out to feel beside her but found no one.
She put on a robe, groping her way to open the bedroom door.
Qin Mohuai called, “Come have breakfast.”
Standing still, Xia Yuan’s pale face was still sleepy as she mumbled, “Mohuai, why didn’t you turn on the lights? Did the hospital lose power?”
At her words, the room fell deathly silent.
Qin Qi sensed something was wrong and held his breath, glancing at his boss.
He Qin was clueless about what had happened and followed Qin Qi’s lead, standing still like a quail.
Qin Mohuai quickly walked over to Xia Yuan and waved his fingers in front of her eyes. There was no reaction.
His heart sank.
Could this be the deal she made with the system?
All his usual calm and composure vanished. Qin Mohuai tightly embraced Xia Yuan, an uncontrollable surge of anger rising in his chest. Just as he was about to say something, Xia Yuan interrupted him.
“I can see now! It just went dark and fuzzy for a moment; I must be too weak. I’m fine now.”
“… ” Qin Mohuai planted a firm kiss on her forehead. “Scare me again, and I’ll spank you.”
Xia Yuan playfully grumbled and pushed him away as she headed to the bathroom.
Just then, Pei Jinchen, who had been getting strange looks all morning, knocked on the door and entered the room.
“Qin Mohuai, look at what we brought you!”
Pei Jinchen handed over the tightly wrapped human-shaped doll.
He Qin’s eyes widened in shock.
Rumor had it that when Mr. Qin was in a bad mood, he’d spar with him. Maybe he’d hit him on the head too hard?
Giving him a blow-up doll—wasn’t that an insult?
Leaning back on the couch, Qin Mohuai pinched the bridge of his nose. This morning had been full of surprises, and he was exhausted.
Pei Jinchen eagerly tore open the package like a fan promoting his favorite celebrity, his voice excited. “Look! You’re going to love this pillow!”
Qin Mohuai lazily glanced at it, the veins on the back of his hand bulging as he gripped the couch. His smile turned icy. “Leave it here and get lost.”
At that moment, Xia Yuan walked out of the bathroom and saw ‘herself’ in Pei Jinchen’s hands.
Pei Jinchen was stunned, suddenly connecting with the thought process of Qin’s father.
“Qin Mohuai, you’ve gone astray after all!” he whispered. “Did you summon this ghost from our country or Thailand? Only you could do it—it’s much more lifelike than my pillow.”
Xia Yuan understood Pei Jinchen’s comment perfectly, considering Qin Mohuai had already demonstrated something similar before.
As she ate her fish maw and red date soup, she occasionally smiled at Pei Jinchen and Zhou Xuan, making the two six-foot-tall men freeze in terror.
Who would’ve thought they were afraid of ghosts?
Feeling playful, Xia Yuan wanted to scare them further.
Qin Mohuai pressed down on her leg. “Eat your breakfast, be good.”
Outside, the sunlight shone brightly, bathing Xia Yuan in its warmth, with no sign of her turning to dust and disappearing.
The sofa she sat on sank slightly under her weight, clearly indicating she wasn’t a ghost!
Pei Jinchen felt conflicted, unsure whether “Xia Yuan coming back to life” or “Xia Yuan being a ghost” was scarier.
Zhou Xuan, however, quickly accepted the situation. Blinded by his own “hatred,” he didn’t care if Xia Yuan had come back to life or not; finally, someone could bring Ning Kou down a notch!
“Sister-in-law, whenever you have time, could you teach Ning Kou a lesson again? She’s been playing dice in the circle, and last time, she won… even my underwear!”
Xia Yuan almost choked at the thought—what a brutal game of dice, losing even his underwear.
“Ning Kou isn’t my responsibility. I’m not interested in dice right now. If you know any experts in treating lung cancer, please introduce them to me.”
All she wanted was to find a way to cure Qin Mohuai’s illness. If they couldn’t find help in the country, they would go abroad.
Pei Jinchen and Zhou Xuan exchanged glances.
Why would they need a lung cancer expert?
Qin Mohuai, stroking the human-shaped pillow, shot them a sharp look. “If you’re so free, stay and practice boxing with me.”
“Oh, we wouldn’t want to impose!”
“We wouldn’t want to interrupt your reunion with Sister-in-law!”
“We’ll leave that privilege to Yang Yi!”
The two quickly made their escape.
Suddenly, Xia Yuan asked, “Does Zhou Xuan like Ning Kou?”
Hearing this, Zhou Xuan, who hadn’t gone far, tripped and fell flat on his face.

Xia Yuan had hit a creative block while writing lyrics, so Qin Mohuai organized a gathering, inviting several accomplished lyricists to help her break through it.
Though he couldn’t write lyrics himself, he knew how to help Xia Yuan in other ways.
Given enough time, Xia Yuan could overcome this block on her own, but with the age gap between them, Qin Mohuai had shifted from merely “spoiling” Xia Yuan to practically “raising” her. He couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
As they waited at a stoplight, a Maybach idled behind the line. Two lively young girls passed by, laughing and drinking milk tea.
Xia Yuan was napping, so only Qin Mohuai noticed them. He asked the driver to pull over.
“Sir?”
“I’m going to buy a milk tea.”
“Sir, I can go.”
“No, I’ll go myself.”
Qin Mohuai remembered that day when Xia Yuan had envied the girls drinking milk tea. Maybe all she wanted was a cup of milk tea—or maybe it was freedom.
At the time, he hadn’t understood and instead used the opportunity to scare and threaten her.
Qin Mohuai, you’re such a fool…
You don’t have to love her exactly the way she wants, but you should love her in a good way!
Qin Mohuai stood in line behind the girls, tall and handsome, standing out from the crowd. People whispered about him.
Even a business tycoon personally buying milk tea?
One of the girls accidentally said her thoughts aloud.
Qin Mohuai replied, “Milk tea for my wife has to be bought personally.”
The crowd gasped—how romantic!
It felt like a scene straight out of a TV drama!
When Qin Mohuai returned to the car with a red bean milk tea, Xia Yuan had already woken up.
“What’s this?”
“Wife, I bought you a milk tea. And… I’m sorry.”
Xia Yuan was stunned.
Qin Mohuai had apologized to her many times before, but it had always been casual, lighthearted, like part of their playful banter. He never meant it seriously, and Xia Yuan never took it seriously either.
But this apology felt different—serious and sincere.
“Why are you saying sorry?”
Xia Yuan took a sip of the milk tea. Ah, so refreshing! Goodbye to healthy diets, long live junk food!
Qin Mohuai said, “The elite education I received became part of my personality. Arrogance and superiority are ingrained in my bones. When I look back at everything that’s happened between us, it feels like a devil wrapped in a beautiful exterior has been loving you. You must have suffered a lot. I’m sorry, baby.”
It seemed as if something inside him was transforming—the vicious, rebellious dragon was shedding its skin, evolving into a noble and righteous one, radiating an incredible allure.
“Are you still Qin Mohuai?” Xia Yuan asked, her eyes dazed.
