With his heart pounding like a drum, little Yingze coughed awkwardly, casting a warning glance at the tiny girl beside him.
If Aunt Chen found out he took her out and didn’t watch her properly, he would definitely get scolded later that night.
The little girl quickly caught on, babbling as she tried to clarify, “It’s not Second Brother’s fault. While Yuan Yuan was walking… and… it just broke on its own!”
Yu Yingze’s face turned ashen: That was the worst excuse in the world.
Aunt Chen clearly wasn’t buying it.
Right now, Yu Yingze was filled with regret—regret for not coming up with a better excuse beforehand and making the little bean memorize it!
However, Aunt Chen didn’t say much. She simply led Yuanyuan upstairs to change her clothes.
Yu Yingze didn’t need any help and could take care of himself.
By the time he had showered and changed, Yuanyuan had transformed back into her clean and adorable little self.
“Second Young Master, lunch is ready,” one of the maids announced.
Today, lunch had been prepared only for the two little ones. Yu Yingze didn’t have much of an appetite, especially since there wasn’t any spicy food.
Meanwhile, Yuanyuan, the little eating champion, had no such concerns. She quickly finished her portion and then, with wide eyes and a small stomach, stared longingly at the untouched food in front of Yu Yingze.
Aunt Chen, guessing what little Yuan Yuan was thinking, gently put an end to her wishful thoughts. The little girl rested her head on the table, casting longing glances at the delicious food in front of Yu Yingze.
Yu Yingze liked spicy food, but Aunt Chen didn’t prepare it for every meal. She focused on nutrition, ensuring that each dish was flavorful while being healthy.
After lunch, the two children were left to their own devices. Yu Yingze suddenly remembered he still had homework to do. Dragging his tired, small frame, he trudged back to his room.
Not long after, there was a knock at the door. Yuanyuan’s little head peeked in through the gap, “Second Brother, do you want Yuanyuan to play with you?”
Ah, such mastery of the art of speaking.
He didn’t need anyone to play with him. What he needed was someone to do his homework.
His gaze swept over the little girl, who still couldn’t even recognize numbers, and Yu Yingze decided it was safer to handle the homework himself.
However, seeing Yuanyuan’s pitiful expression, he couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty about leaving her alone.
“You can stay here and look at picture books, but you have to be quiet!” Yu Yingze relented, his tone losing all authority. “You can do whatever you want, just don’t make any noise. I still need to finish my homework.”
“Yuanyuan will be good!” the little girl promised, patting her chest in assurance before running off to grab her picture books and a bunch of art supplies.
Yu Yingze glanced over, making sure she wasn’t up to mischief, then buried himself back in his homework.
Why did weekends come with homework anyway?
He lamented to the heavens. If only he were as smart as his older brother, who always excelled at studying. His brother probably finished all his homework last night without even breaking a sweat.
Yu Yingze and Yu Mingxi were complete opposites.
Yu Yingze had a natural talent for sports and could never sit still. He preferred being outdoors, constantly seeking fun rather than staying at home.
Yu Mingxi, on the other hand, was an academic star. Most of the time, he was either at home or at the library. If he went out, it was never for play; he loved nothing more than staying in and reading quietly.
Now, under the bright afternoon sun, being forced to do homework made Yu Yingze feel like a wilting plant stuck indoors.
After much struggling and countless breaks, Yu Yingze finally finished his homework.
Stretching his arms out wide, he was about to get up and move around when his hand poked something soft behind him.
“Second Brother, you poked Yuan Yuan’s head!” came a small, pitiful voice from behind.
