Chapter 35
Upon seeing the voice message, Sheng Qingli froze for a moment.
She instinctively glanced over at Li Yuwei, then turned the volume on her phone down a bit before clicking to play it and bringing it closer to her ear.
Actually, Pei Qingci didn’t say much—just a very brief “good night.”
But his voice was very pleasant to listen, with a deep and restrained tone that struck just the right balance, enough to stir your auditory nerves and make you feel his presence in a very direct way.
This guy was breaking the rules.
Others might not know, but Pei Qingci was fully aware that Sheng Qingli had a slight thing for voices. She liked listening to pleasant voices and would sometimes even listen to radio dramas recorded by voice actors.
She had a soft spot for this.
When they were together, Sheng Qingli had complimented Pei Qingci’s voice more than once. She even joked that if he ever failed in the acting industry, he could try getting into voice acting, and that he would definitely make a name for himself there.
This wasn’t just Sheng Qingli seeing him through rose-colored glasses. Pei Qingci’s voice was genuinely well-suited for it. He could even switch between different tones, as if it was second nature to him.
While it’s true that having good original voice work is a basic requirement for an actor, Pei Qingci didn’t just meet the requirement—he excelled.
For every role he played, he delivered the lines in his original voice. Moreover, he tailored his voice to match each character’s personality, presenting different textures—whether it was rough, cold, deep, or the youthful voice from his early days. Fans, movie buffs, and even casual viewers would always praise him whenever they came across his work.
It was genuinely very good, deeply immersive.
“What are you zoning out for?” Li Yuwei, still savoring her time on Weibo before bed, noticed her companion staring blankly at her phone.
Sheng Qingli snapped out of it, blinking a bit sheepishly. “Nothing, I was just thinking.”
Li Yuwei raised her eyebrows.
Sheng Qingli put her phone down at the same time as her. “I’m done thinking. Let’s sleep.”
Li Yuwei: “…”
She was speechless for a few seconds, then said, a little angrily, “You’re doing this on purpose.”
Sheng Qingli turned off the glaring light, leaving only a soft, warm nightlight on.
She curved her lips into a smile. “I wasn’t.”
Li Yuwei, still frustrated, pressed on. “Was that a message from Pei Qingci just now?”
Sheng Qingli gave a vague “mm-hmm.”
“Alright.” Satisfied with the answer, Li Yuwei relented. “I won’t pry into what you two talked about… for now.”
She mumbled, “I’m afraid it’s not suitable for children.”
Sheng Qingli: “…”
Speechless, she kicked Li Yuwei under the blanket. “Who said it was unsuitable for children?”
“Whoever argues, that’s who.”
“…”
Sheng Qingli was momentarily at a loss for words and didn’t feel like talking to her anymore.
After their little back-and-forth, Sheng Qingli actually slept pretty well that night. She wasn’t bothered by the mess going on online and slept soundly until ten in the morning.
After a quick wash-up, Sheng Qingli saw that the official Weibo account for the movie Sword And Sword had made an announcement, tagging the two lead actors—Sheng Qingli and Xu Xingyue—as well as special guest star Pei Qingci.
As soon as the post went live, Sheng Qingli quickly shared it, adding the caption: “Excited to join the team, please look forward to it.”
Not long after, both Xu Xingyue and Pei Qingci also shared the post. This time, Pei Qingci didn’t share Sheng Qingli’s post, just the official account’s.
With the film’s official announcement, the rumors that had been circulating about them from the previous night were debunked.
However, another issue that Sheng Qingli had worried about before now came up. Fans of both Sheng Qingli and Xu Xingyue were delighted to see the announcement. Even though Xu Xingyue was only the second lead, the opportunity to work with Director Zhong was more than enough to make his fans happy.
Xu Xingyue would only continue to rise.
Meanwhile, Pei Qingci’s biggest fans had always known that he and Sheng Qingli were in the same project, but they didn’t know he was just making a special appearance.
They had prepared themselves for the worst—expecting him to share equal billing with others.
But the one thing they hadn’t expected was that Pei Qingci would just be a special guest star.
In an instant, Pei Qingci’s fans were left stunned.
What’s going on?
Why is Pei Qingci only a special appearance?!
“I don’t understand. What level is my brother? Why is he only a special appearance??”
“Pei Qingci, are you crazy?! I had already accepted that you and Sheng Qingli would have equal billing, and now you’re telling me you’re just a special appearance?!”
“I can even understand a special appearance, but what does it mean that you’re staying in Ancheng for months for a special appearance???”
“I give up.”
“… I’m cracking up.”
“I seriously feel like unfollowing.”
“Same here, but I’m still waiting for the movie he finished filming last time…”
“Ahhh, why on earth?!”
“Breaking news! Pei Qingci is indeed just a special appearance in Director Zhong’s new movie, but he doesn’t have a small role. And his character is very unique! He’s a stoic, extremely powerful master. I think we can look forward to it.”
“If he’s a special appearance, then he’s a special appearance. I don’t get why everyone’s so outraged. Have you all forgotten his pattern in recent years? After finishing a movie, he takes at least half a year off before accepting a new project. This time, he’s only rested for two months before filming again. Even if it’s just a special appearance, it’s still an appearance! Isn’t that better than having no news at all?”
“Pei Qingci has said before that the size of the role doesn’t matter—what’s important is whether he likes it.”
“Qingling fans will always support Pei Qingci’s choices. Whatever he acts in, I’ll watch.”
…
With some rational fans, including major fan leaders guiding the conversation, soon, there were fewer people opposing Pei Qingci’s special appearance.
Even if there were, you couldn’t see them in the top comments of the official announcement on Weibo.
–
Li Yuwei woke up a little later than Sheng Qingli, and the moment she opened her eyes, she saw Sheng Qingli looking at her phone with a serious expression.
She got up and peeked at the screen, “Worried?”
Sheng Qingli: “… Not really.”
The situation was clearly under control by now.
Hearing her denial, Li Yuwei gave her a sidelong glance, “Yeah, right.”
Sheng Qingli: “I was just thinking, if Pei Qingci being a special appearance is so hard for fans to accept, wouldn’t they go crazy if he changes careers?”
“Change careers?” Li Yuwei was shocked. “He’s switching careers?”
Sheng Qingli nodded, “That’s what I was going to tell you yesterday.”
Li Yuwei was stunned, then she realized, “No wonder you didn’t say it in the car. Has it been decided?”
“Not yet.” Sheng Qingli’s voice was soft, “He just mentioned that he’s thinking about it.”
“…”
The two exchanged glances for a few seconds before Li Yuwei commented, “Honestly, I have no idea what Pei Qingci is thinking anymore.”
Sheng Qingli: “Me neither.”
“Whatever.” Li Yuwei waved it off, “Let’s not talk about that.”
She picked up her phone and said, “I’ll give you a like first.”
Sheng Qingli smiled, “Then I’ll thank Teacher Li in advance.”
“No need to be polite.” Li Yuwei liked her post as she said, “If Yin Miaojing sees Weibo today, she’ll probably be pissed.”
Sheng Qingli: “Most likely.”
She knew Yin Miaojing well. She was extremely petty, and her way of playing the victim was quite unique.
Li Yuwei chuckled, “About the photos, what’s the verdict? Was it her?”
“Not Pei Qingci’s former assistant,” Sheng Qingli informed her. “So, she’s the only one left.”
At the time on set, the only ones who knew she was visiting Pei Qingci and stayed in his trailer were his assistant and Yin Miaojing. Of course, it’s also possible that someone else saw her or walked in on them when visiting Pei Qingci.
But if it were someone else, the photos would have leaked back then. They wouldn’t have been kept hidden until now.
After hearing Sheng Qingli’s analysis, Li Yuwei nodded, “Even if it wasn’t her this time, it’s still a good time to settle old scores.”
Sheng Qingli agreed.
“How are you planning to settle it?” Li Yuwei asked.
Sheng Qingli turned to look at her and blinked slowly, “I plan to repay her in kind.”
Li Yuwei: “Sounds good to me. Today or tomorrow?”
“Today’s a good day, but tomorrow,” Sheng Qingli said.
After being in the industry for so long, Yin Miaojing had some old photos of Sheng Qingli from a few years ago. But Sheng Qingli had her fair share of old photos and dirt on Yin Miaojing as well.
In comparison, Sheng Qingli felt she had the upper hand.
After all, she had only been in one relationship and could openly admit to it if needed. But Yin Miaojing’s past relationships were absolutely not meant for public knowledge.
Thinking about it, Sheng Qingli sent a few messages to Lin Lin.
Half an hour later, Lin Lin replied: “Got it. I was also planning to retaliate tomorrow. Today is a good day for your movie’s official announcement, so we can’t let the attention of the gossip crowd be diverted.”
Sheng Qingli: “You always know me best, Lin Jie.”
Having agreed with Lin Lin, Sheng Qingli and Li Yuwei went downstairs to the hotel restaurant for brunch.
As soon as they sat down and hadn’t yet ordered, Li Yuwei suddenly burst into laughter, “Pei Qingci’s character has been revealed.”
Sheng Qingli: “Hmm?”
Li Yuwei shoved her phone in her face, “A gossip account leaked it. They say Pei Qingci plays your master in today’s officially announced movie, and there’s some romantic entanglement between you two, but it ends tragically.”
After this news came out, fans of the Sheng Qingli-Pei Qingci pairing were devastated, while the haters were delighted.
Sheng Qingli opened the comments and glanced at them. Many haters mocked her and Pei Qingci, saying they truly were a pair who would never get along. Even their first collaboration had ended in tragedy, and now their second one had the same outcome. They were destined for tragic endings.
Such comments, unsurprisingly, were countered by CP fans.
Of course, some alternative-thinking CP (couple pairing) fans believe that it’s best for the two to play master and disciple, as the forbidden vibe is what makes it appealing.
In short, the rumor of Sheng Qingli and Pei Qingci playing master and disciple spread quickly.
Even colleagues that Sheng Qingli had worked with in the industry were sending her messages asking if Pei Qingci was really playing her master, and about the ending.
Sheng Qingli helplessly rubbed her forehead and replied to each one: “It’s still confidential, I can’t say.”
After responding, Sheng Qingli couldn’t help but wonder—are she and Pei Qingci really destined to have a BE (Bad Ending) script?
“Vivi,” she couldn’t help but call out to the person across from her.
Li Yuwei was busy ordering food and replied vaguely, “Stop overthinking. You guys might have a BE in the movie, but in real life, you can do the opposite.”
Sheng Qingli: “…Oh.”
–
After lunch, the two went to the set together.
Li Yuwei was returning to Beicheng tomorrow, so she came to the set to accompany Sheng Qingli for the last afternoon.
When Sheng Qingli arrived, Director Zhong Hongmao called out to her, “Qingli.”
Sheng Qingli responded and walked over.
As she approached, Pei Qingci happened to be on the other side of Director Zhong.
Their eyes met briefly, but Sheng Qingli quickly averted her gaze and started talking to the director.
Director Zhong talked with her for a while about the upcoming scenes to shoot, and Sheng Qingli prepared to go get her makeup done and change clothes.
Although the rumors about them had just surfaced last night, and today’s filming together served as a way to clarify things, the staff still noticed that the two interacted far more than other actors.
As a result, from the moment Sheng Qingli appeared, the crew’s eyes were on them.
With everyone’s gaze on her, Sheng Qingli calmly entered the makeup room.
She had been inside for only five minutes when Pei Qingci came in to grab something and left again.
“…”
Sheng Qingli pretended not to see and continued chatting with the makeup artist.
Until her phone on the table buzzed.
Sheng Qingli paused slightly, then slowly opened it.
Pei Qingci: “What are you avoiding?”
He noticed her avoidance.
Sheng Qingli: “…You wouldn’t want to be the zoo’s monkey either, right?”
Pei Qingci fell silent for a moment, understanding Sheng Qingli’s point.
She didn’t want to be watched.
After a brief pause, Pei Qingci rubbed his temples: “So you’re planning to avoid suspicion?”
Sheng Qingli: “It’s not that serious.”
She thought for a moment and added: “We don’t even have any scenes together today.”
Not talking should be normal, right?
Pei Qingci was a bit defeated by her honesty. After a short silence, he rubbed his temples again: “So, if we have scenes together, you’ll talk?”
Sheng Qingli: “Not necessarily.”
It’s just that today, they were too eye-catching. Anything they said, everyone would be eavesdropping.
Although the crew had signed confidentiality agreements, there’s no such thing as a completely leak-proof wall in this world.
More importantly, Sheng Qingli preferred that people focus on the work, on her and Pei Qingci’s characters, rather than on gossip about them off-screen.
Pei Qingci probably understood Sheng Qingli’s intentions and reminded her: “You can’t avoid this forever.”
Sheng Qingli: “…We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”
They really didn’t have any scenes together today.
Pei Qingci was defeated by her persistence. He stood there for a while before replying: “Don’t let the stuff online bother you.”
Sheng Qingli paused and told him: “It won’t.”
She wasn’t the same Sheng Qingli as before.
After exchanging a few brief messages, Sheng Qingli put her phone down.
She closed her eyes and let the makeup artist work on her eye makeup.
Once her makeup was done, the milk tea and desserts Sheng Qingli had ordered for the crew were delivered.
Li Yuwei brought two cups of lemon tea to her. “This is probably the only thing you can drink, right?”
Sheng Qingli accepted it: “Thank you.”
Li Yuwei hummed and handed her another cup. “This one’s for Mr. Pei.”
Sheng Qingli: “…Why did you bring it over?”
Li Yuwei smiled slightly. “Do you think Mr. Pei would come get it himself?”
Sheng Qingli: “His assistant will.”
“No way.” Li Yuwei leaned in and whispered, “I’m telling you, a man as reserved as Mr. Pei is probably hoping you’d deliver it to him personally.”
Sheng Qingli was speechless. “So if I don’t bring it, he won’t drink it?”
Li Yuwei shrugged. “I don’t know him as well as you do, but that’s probably the case.”
Sheng Qingli responded indifferently, “Then I won’t go.”
Li Yuwei was confused. “Why not?”
“I don’t want to spoil him,” Sheng Qingli said.
Li Yuwei blinked, feeling that made sense.
“You’re right. Then should I drink it?”
Sheng Qingli was puzzled. “You don’t drink milk tea?”
“I’ve already gained two pounds being here with you.” Li Yuwei sighed, “If I drink any more milk tea, my agent will kill me when I go back.”
Sheng Qingli blinked. “It’s not that serious, is it?”
Li Yuwei was about to say something when Tongtong called her from outside.
“Fine, you should give it to Mr. Pei.” Li Yuwei left in a hurry. “I have to go now.”
She came quickly and left just as fast.
In no time, Sheng Qingli was left alone in the makeup room. She took a sip of the lemon tea she’d just opened and glanced outside.
It was break time, and with Sheng Qingli treating everyone to milk tea, the set was bustling.
Listening to the lively chatter, Sheng Qingli shifted her gaze to the lemon tea on the table.
Coincidentally, the two cups of lemon tea Li Yuwei had brought her both had a few slices of lime in them. Pei Qingci’s fan name was Qingning (Green Lime).
After hesitating for three seconds, Sheng Qingli took out her phone: “Where are you?”
Pei Qingci sent a photo.
Sheng Qingli opened it, thought for a moment, and walked out of the makeup room with a cup of lemon tea.
Pei Qingci was under a pavilion built by the crew, a little distance away from the center of the set.
When Sheng Qingli arrived, there was only Pei Qingci around.
She paused slightly, looked around, and asked, “Why are you alone here?”
Pei Qingci lowered his eyes to the lemon tea in her hand, his expression calm. “It’s too noisy over there.”
“…”
Sheng Qingli choked up slightly, slowly responded with an “oh,” and handed him the lemon tea. “Today, it’s my treat.”
“…” Pei Qingci took it, a playful smile on his lips. “Then thank you, Ms. Sheng.”
After a moment of silence, Sheng Qingli heard Pei Qingci say, “It tastes good.”
Instinctively, she turned her head. When their eyes met, she felt that Pei Qingci was referring to more than just the lemon tea.
She opened her mouth and vaguely said, “It seems this place has good skills.”
Pei Qingci smiled meaningfully.
Sheng Qingli felt a bit embarrassed and touched her nose. “Do you have a scene later?”
Pei Qingci nodded.
Sheng Qingli replied with a nod and asked, “How’s the preparation going?”
“Pretty good.” Pei Qingci glanced at her as they sat down together. “Did you come over just to ask this?”
Sheng Qingli admitted, “Not really.”
Pei Qingci raised an eyebrow.
Sheng Qingli pointed at the lemon tea in his hand. “I came to deliver lemon tea.”
Pei Qingci: “…”
After a moment of quiet, Pei Qingci, somewhat helpless, changed the subject. “How’s the preparation for the photos going?”
Sheng Qingli thought for a moment. “You’ll know tomorrow.”
After saying this, she remembered something and asked, “When did you find out?”
When Sheng Qingli broke up with Pei Qingci, she hadn’t mentioned Yin Miaojing.
At that time, they should still have been friends.
After the breakup, Pei Qingci never asked her about it.
After all, they hadn’t kept in touch much, and Sheng Qingli and Yin Miaojing’s fallout had been quiet. They hadn’t made it public, and Sheng Qingli wasn’t the type to air out disagreements with former friends online.
She disliked using public opinion on the internet, while Yin Miaojing loved it.
It was the same then as it is now.
Thinking of this, Sheng Qingli faintly smiled.
Pei Qingci replied, “A long time ago.”
Sheng Qingli asked, “…how long is a long time? Did she tell you?”
Pei Qingci looked at her, quietly asking, “Do you think she would tell me about the conflict between you two?”
Sheng Qingli thought for a moment. “I don’t know.”
She had thought she knew her well but later realized she didn’t know her at all.
Pei Qingci was taken aback and lightly tapped her head.
Sheng Qingli winced, covering the back of her head. “Pei Qingci, I just finished my styling.”
She said softly, “If you mess it up, the stylist will come after you later.”
Pei Qingci looked up. “You wouldn’t dare say I messed it up.”
Sheng Qingli was speechless.
“…Don’t change the topic.” Sheng Qingli murmured, “You still haven’t told me how you found out.”
“I guessed.”
“Guessed?” Sheng Qingli was surprised.
Pei Qingci noted her astonishment and lightly replied, “Am I not smart when I’m with you?”
Sheng Qingli was at a loss for words. “I thought you didn’t care about these matters between women.”
Especially annoying conflicts.
“I really don’t care.” Pei Qingci replied casually, his gaze fixed on her face. “What I care about isn’t those matters between women.”
Sheng Qingli paused, understanding his meaning.
What he cared about was her. Any matters concerning her, whether significant or trivial, even the complicated conflicts between women, Pei Qingci would be concerned about.
Realizing this made Sheng Qingli feel a bit uneasy, and she pursed her lips. “So what do you think the reason for us is—”
Before she could finish, Fang Li approached.
“Brother Pei.”
Fang Li shouted, only to notice Sheng Qingli was also there.
He awkwardly said, “Sheng… Teacher.”
Sheng Qingli snapped back to reality, nodding slightly. “Are you here to call Mr. Pei for filming?”
Fang Li hesitated and nodded.
“You can go shoot first.” Sheng Qingli said softly.
Pei Qingci replied, his voice low. “Don’t rush back to the hotel after filming.”
Sheng Qingli was speechless and moved her lips to remind him, “Yuwei is leaving tomorrow. I’m taking her out to dinner tonight.”
She pondered for a few seconds. “I’ll tell you later.”
Actually, she wasn’t prepared for today either.
Pei Qingci paused, his Adam’s apple moving slightly. “Okay.”
Watching Pei Qingci walk away, Sheng Qingli stood there for a moment before slowly returning to the set.
In the afternoon, Sheng Qingli’s scenes weren’t heavy, and she finished shooting by around five.
After finishing, Sheng Qingli had the driver take her and Li Yuwei to a restaurant in the center of Taolin County.
It was the same place where she had dined with Pei Qingci and the others last time.
“This place is nice.” Li Yuwei commented.
Sheng Qingli smiled. “The outside is nice, and the dishes inside are good too.”
The two ordered a private room and chatted while eating.
By the end, Sheng Qingli felt a bit full.
After leaving the restaurant, the two leisurely strolled down the street for a while.
After a tiring stroll, they finally returned to the hotel.
“You’re leaving tomorrow,” Li Yuwei leaned on Sheng Qingli’s shoulder, “I’m a little reluctant to go.”
Hearing this, Sheng Qingli raised an eyebrow, “Then stay two more days.”
Li Yuwei sighed, “I wish I could.”
But she had work to attend to.
Sheng Qingli patted her arm, “After I wrap up filming, I’ll come visit you.”
Li Yuwei shot her a glance, “Who knows when you’ll finish filming?”
Sheng Qingli was speechless, “It shouldn’t be too long.”
Their movie was indeed taking a while to shoot, but finishing by autumn wasn’t too much of a stretch.
The two chatted as they returned to the hotel.
After washing up, they lay down and talked, feeling the passage of time.
Before they knew it, they had fallen asleep.
The next morning, Sheng Qingli had her driver take Li Yuwei into the city.
After Li Yuwei left, Sheng Qingli received a call from Lin Lin. “I forgot to ask, when are you posting?”
Sheng Qingli initially thought to say evening, but then remembered that if Weibo crashed, the programmers would have to work overtime.
The thought passed quickly, and Sheng Qingli changed her response, “How about in the afternoon?”
Lin Lin replied, “Not many surfers in the afternoon, right?”
Sheng Qingli said, “That should be enough.”
“Okay, focus on filming,” Lin Lin said.
“Sure,” Sheng Qingli replied.
After hanging up, Sheng Qingli headed to the set.
She had a heavy filming schedule today, with ten scenes on her call sheet.
After finishing the morning shoot, she returned to the car for a short rest around noon.
Just as she had fallen asleep, her phone rang.
Seeing an unfamiliar number, Sheng Qingli expressionlessly hung up.
She opened WeChat and saw Lin Lin had sent a message ten minutes ago: “Got it done.”
Sheng Qingli replied: “Looks like she tried to call me.”
Lin Lin responded: “Looks like?”
Sheng Qingli typed: “Unfamiliar number, I didn’t pick up.”
Lin Lin replied: “No need to answer.”
Sheng Qingli: “I’ll get back to filming.”
She didn’t want to answer; she feared it might ruin her mood.
After taking a moment to collect herself in the RV, Sheng Qingli stepped outside.
Returning to the set, she unexpectedly noticed several crew members whispering to each other, holding their phones.
As she walked slowly toward the makeup room, Li Yuwei’s message came in: “!!!”
Li Yuwei: “I just landed and saw the Weibo news. What do you think Yin Miaoqing’s team will do for damage control?”
Sheng Qingli: “No idea.”
Li Yuwei: “They can’t just say she’s dating that CEO, right? If I remember correctly, that CEO has a wife and kids.”
Sheng Qingli: “Dating?”
Li Yuwei: “Sitting on his lap in a bathrobe discussing business?”
Sheng Qingli: “We can look forward to it.”
After hesitating for a moment, Sheng Qingli finally opened Weibo.
Yin Miaoqing’s response was straightforward: she exposed photos of her and Pei Qingci, so Sheng Qingli would expose her intimate photos with someone else.
Yin Miaoqing had been in the industry for many years and had several boyfriends.
However, Sheng Qingli never commented on this; it was a personal choice. Men could seamlessly date different women, and women could do the same.
What was somewhat disgusting was that most of Yin Miaoqing’s partners were married men.
Perhaps it wasn’t dating in the traditional sense.
It was more of a mutually beneficial arrangement.
What perplexed Sheng Qingli was knowing Yin Miaoqing liked Pei Qingci, and she admitted to loving him. She even told Sheng Qingli that she would definitely win Pei Qingci’s heart.
But that didn’t stop her from seducing married investors, her boss, and collaborators to gain resources and snatch opportunities from Sheng Qingli.
Of course, it was a case of one wanting to hit and the other willing to be hit.
Sheng Qingli looked down on Yin Miaoqing and equally despised those cheating men.
When cheating men stray, they never think about their wives who supported them; they only feel proud to have slept with a star.
Sheng Qingli scoffed lightly and clicked on Weibo.
Sure enough, the platform was filled with outrage against Yin Miaoqing and that CEO. Yin Miaoqing’s team had not yet responded.
After skimming through, Sheng Qingli received a message: “He just contacted me.”
It was Fang Roujing, the wife of the man who had been “discussing business” in a bathrobe with Yin Miaoqing. Sheng Qingli knew her, and the photos had been sent to Lin Lin after asking Fang Roujing.
Sheng Qingli: “What did he say?”
Fang Roujing: “He wants me to cooperate and admit that we divorced a few years ago, and he got with her after that.”
Sheng Qingli: “Did you agree?”
Fang Roujing: “Am I stupid?”
Sheng Qingli: “Sorry.”
Fang Roujing: “You helped me back then. How could I betray you when you’re going after her? I didn’t agree; I even plan to post something on Weibo. What do you think?”
Sheng Qingli: “You can post, but I think it shouldn’t be too much.”
Fang Roujing: “I’ll edit it and send it to you first.”
Sheng Qingli: “Okay.”
That day, the topic of Yin Miaoqing and the married man dating in a hotel surged online.
By evening, the married man’s wife posted on Weibo, accusing them of their past behaviors. Suddenly, Yin Miaoqing lost quite a few fans, and her team only managed to hastily respond that things weren’t as everyone saw, leaving it at that.
When Sheng Qingli finished filming and returned to the hotel, she found several missed calls and unread messages on her phone.
As expected, the messages were from Yin Miaoqing, asking if she was responsible for it.
She sent two messages: the first was a question, and the second was a statement.
Sheng Qingli glanced at them and blocked the number.
After handling that, she prepared to wash up and go to bed.
Just as she picked up her pajamas, her phone vibrated.
It was a WeChat message.
Sheng Qingli opened it to find a shooting schedule from the coordinator.
She casually glanced at it but suddenly froze—
A few minutes later, the person on the other end sent a message asking, “Do you have time to rehearse?”
Sheng Qingli: “……”
Pei Qingci: “?”
Sheng Qingli: “I’m busy.”
Pei Qingci: “What are you busy with?”
Sheng Qingli: “I filmed all day today and I’m a bit tired. Mr. Pei, you should rest early too. Can we talk about the rehearsal tomorrow?”
Knowing what she was avoiding, Pei Qingci silently smirked: “Are you sure?”
Sheng Qingli: “Absolutely.”
Who wants to rehearse kissing scenes with Pei Qingci in private?
She didn’t want to at all.
Pei Qingci: “Aren’t you worried about messing up on set tomorrow?”
Sheng Qingli: “…… I shouldn’t, right?”
Pei Qingci: “So sure?”
He bluntly reminded her: “Tomorrow night, we’re filming a kissing scene.”
