Yu Yingze’s breathing was heavy, like an angry Godzilla.
Yu Yuanyuan finally woke up completely, looking around. She didn’t see any monsters, only her two older brothers.
The little one, completely unaware of what had just happened, let go of Yu Jinxiao and turned to throw herself into Yu Mingxi’s arms. “Brother!”
“Yuanyuan, where did you go? How did you end up coming back with Dad?” Yu Mingxi’s tone was gentle but carried a hint of reproach.
An hour and a half ago, after finishing his homework, he noticed that the house was unusually quiet.
This kind of silence felt off. Yu Yuanyuan would never be so well-behaved, playing quietly by herself.
Feeling uneasy, Yu Mingxi went to check her room—empty.
He then checked with Yu Yingze, but no one was there either.
The sudden quietness gave him a bad feeling, and he immediately called the servants to search the house.
They searched the entire villa and the surrounding yard but couldn’t find her.
Yu Yingze, remembering their playful day earlier, thought she had wandered off, so he ran outside to look for her.
The villa area was enormous, and after searching for a while without any success, he returned to call more people to help. He even gathered some familiar kids to join in the search.
Soon, everyone knew that Yu Yingze’s little sister was missing, and a group of kids, under the night sky, were searching every nook and cranny of the neighborhood’s greenery.
“I went with Daddy to the beach…” Before Yu Yuanyuan could finish, Yu Jinxiao swiftly covered half of her face with his hand.
Yu Yuanyuan was too young to understand what had happened at the beach.
But Yu Mingxi, being a sharp and perceptive child, would definitely figure everything out.
A father always hopes to leave a positive image in his children’s hearts.
Whatever happened outside, Yu Jinxiao didn’t want it to affect his kids.
The sudden silence in the room was filled by the jingle of an ad playing on the TV, which helped to ease the tension.
Seeing the commercial flash on the screen, Yu Jinxiao calmly said, “Tomorrow, we’ll go to the ocean park.”
“Ocean park? What’s that?” Yu Yuanyuan’s eyes lit up.
“It’s a place with lots of sea creatures and fish,” Yu Jinxiao tried hard to make it sound fun and exciting.
Just like that, the beach trip turned into a visit to the ocean park.
But aside from Yu Yuanyuan, his two sons were unimpressed.
The ocean park didn’t seem to hold much appeal for them.
Catching a glimpse of Yu Yingze’s indifferent expression, which showed no sign of excitement, Yu Jinxiao quickly added, “I’ll take all of you there together.”
“Really?” Yu Yingze, forgetting about scolding Yuanyuan, jumped up excitedly. “Dad’s coming too?”
“Yes, I’ll go with you.”
Even Yu Mingxi’s eyes sparkled with a different light.
Throughout their lives, opportunities to go out and play with their father had been few and far between.
So few, in fact, that he couldn’t even recall any meaningful memories of playing with their father.
Even though he wasn’t a little kid anymore, he still longed for his family’s attention and companionship.
“This is great! So great!” Yu Yuanyuan cheered, her excitement growing as Yu Jinxiao carried her farther away from the others.
The father and daughter found a quiet spot by the window, preparing for a little heart-to-heart.
“You can’t mention a word about what happened tonight,” Yu Jinxiao said, feeling a bit silly trying to negotiate with a three-year-old. But he had no other choice. “If your brothers ask, just say you hopped into my car, and we went to the office.”
Yu Yuanyuan bit her finger, thinking for a moment, and then hesitantly asked, “Daddy, how can you teach a kid to lie?”
Yu Jinxiao: “???” Apparently, he had underestimated her.
