{“Is someone bullying you?” 2}
“I’m not sure what kind of charm her dad cast on Yu Suyue’s mom; she insisted on marrying him,” Wang Shirun said with a tone of pity, but her gaze was full of mockery. “In any case, when her family saw that she had given up on the marriage, they immediately cut all ties.”
“It seems there was quite a misunderstanding between the two wealthy families. Fortunately, Yu Suyue’s aunt stepped in and arranged the marriage for her mom.”
Wang Shirun spoke with confidence, being a local, and the others naturally believed her.
One of her roommates, who often ran errands for Wang Shirun, laughed so hard she almost fell over. “It’s hilarious! Her mom was so determined to have her dad… maybe she was pregnant with her?”
Wang Shirun shrugged innocently. “Who knows? The two of them look reserved on the surface, but their private lives are probably a mess…”
Her roommates chimed in, “No wonder, with that, it’s easy to understand why Yu Suyue would cling to Lin Wushen.”
Bing Yixing, standing nearby, felt a chill run down her spine for the first time.
Did they think she was deaf?
Bing Yixing couldn’t believe that even in the 21st century, people still gossiped behind others’ backs, especially about someone else’s parents?
She had met her grandparents.
They married out of love; her grandpa was not some poor, rural guy. He left that troubled place with her sad grandma and made a name for himself in Beichuan, supporting a complete family.
Although they didn’t seem as wealthy as her dad today, to her little heart, her grandpa was incredibly impressive.
She couldn’t tolerate the insults aimed at her family, especially not allowing anyone to slander her beloved grandparents to hurt her mom.
Determined, she turned to leave this horrible place.
But then, the seemingly gentle older sister suddenly grabbed her hat without any manners.
“You can’t leave! If you do, my five hundred-dollar cash cow will disappear!”
Wang Shirun teased, and her roommates cast curious or envious glances at the inevitably beautiful little girl, seeing the golden proportions of her features, a perfect arrangement by heaven.
But the more they admired her, the more they hated her.
Everything they could never have, which they might not even attain after patching things together, this little girl received effortlessly.
Moreover, they had accumulated plenty of dissatisfaction with the flashy Yu Suyue before.
So today, they took their frustration out on the child.
“Hey, kid, are you going to spill anything ridiculous when you go back to Yu Suyue?”
Bing Yixing was definitely going to tell Yu Suyue about this. She wouldn’t allow these duplicitous people to linger around her mom, pretending to be her friends.
But she still somewhat foolishly shook her head.
Seeing her silly expression, the others immediately felt relieved.
Wang Shirun thought that kids her age probably couldn’t distinguish between good and bad, so she teasingly kicked a pile of socks to Bing Yixing’s feet. “Kid, go get me some water.”
Bing Yixing had never been treated this way before.
The little one instantly burst into tears.
Seeing the situation escalate, the others worried that the child’s tears would leave evidence, and they urged Wang Shirun, “Maybe it’s best to let it go?”
But Wang Shirun, who had always felt overshadowed by Yu Suyue, was eager to use her sister to gain some momentary satisfaction.
She said firmly, “I’ll say it one more time—get water for your sister.”
This was the first time Bing Yixing had ever felt so wronged. She suddenly thought that heartless capitalists… no, her dad wasn’t that annoying. At least, even in their toughest times, he always stood in front of her, shielding her from the storm, and he had never let anyone talk to her like this.
Bing Yixing picked up the pile of stinky socks, and as the young lady of the Bing family, she certainly wouldn’t stoop to fetching water… or even washing socks for someone else.
She threw the entire stinking pile of socks right in Wang Shirun’s face.
Taking advantage of the distraction, she darted out through the door like lightning.
She didn’t want to be a meek little sweetie.
As soon as she was outside, she called her dad’s phone, which he had left on during a meeting. “Dad, come get me!”
“What’s wrong? Is someone bullying you?”
His voice was initially calm and unhurried.
“Not only are they bullying me, but they’re also bullying my mom and talking trash about my grandparents behind mom’s back…”
Before she could finish her sentence, she heard the background noise of the meeting fade away, replaced by the sound of hurried footsteps. “I’ll drive over right now.”

Author’s Note:
Bing Yixing: Hmph, you don’t care about your daughter, only your wife!
I’ve always believed that the love between couples comes first, and only then can there be parental love for children. This might just be my somewhat simplistic view.
