Danger, Part 6
“General, is this really from those vines?” Wen Qi couldn’t help but swallow nervously. If the General hadn’t rejected his suggestion, would he have rushed to that planet impulsively, only to end up like a human pincushion?
“Remember, they’re called Ghost Vine! They’re not just regular plants, but a form of plant cultivator,” Yan Mingke reminded everyone. “Those things have high cultivation levels, far beyond what we can handle. We’re lucky to have General Mo with us.”
“What exactly are those things?”
“We don’t know the details, but according to General Mo, if I had been tangled for just one more second, I’d have been drained to a husk.” Even now, Yan Mingke felt a cold sweat run down his back as he spoke. Honestly, just being brushed by one had already caused these injuries… It was terrifying, especially the pain that came with it!
“Thank goodness General Mo can fly. Anyone else would have been turned into dried meat on the spot,” someone muttered.
“Absolutely!”
“Who could withstand such a terrifying attack?” The speaker was watching the battle between Mo Mo and the Ghost Vines outside, his eyes dazzled by the action. Sometimes, he couldn’t even tell what was happening.
At this point, everyone had gathered at the windows to watch the fight. Yan Mingke sighed, “It’s fortunate we came here with the Eighth District.”
If they had come on their own from the Seventh District, they would probably have been completely wiped out by now.
“Exactly, if we weren’t with the Eighth District, we’d all have perished here,” someone sighed.
“Get real, stop patting yourself on the back. If we weren’t tagging along with the Eighth District, we probably wouldn’t have even made it past the two star regions,” another person added. The chaotic flows in those star regions were something they couldn’t have navigated on their own.
“That’s true. The Seventh District doesn’t have the capacity for that. From now on, we should just follow General Mo and take whatever benefits come our way,” Yan Mingke chuckled. He really had no jealousy in his heart at all.
To be honest, the Seventh District had already gained a lot by following the Eighth District. Yan Mingke wasn’t overly ambitious; as long as his brothers weren’t suffering and they had the chance to earn some star coins to support their families, he was satisfied.
Even though some of his brothers didn’t come along, Yan Mingke made sure the resources they had drawn from their legion were distributed to those who stayed behind. The interstellar warriors who were with him were also sharing the edible spoils they collected with their brothers back home.
Everyone remained united and caring, and he would never leave his comrades behind. After all, they were all loyal to him!
Actually, Mo Mo was doing the same, but he was less lacking in star coins than Yan Mingke. So, it was likely that the warriors from the Eighth District received more star coins.
However, Yan Mingke didn’t mind. After all, they were the ones benefiting from following General Mo.
By this time, Mo Mo had been playing with the Ghost Vines for nearly two hours, and it seemed like he’d had enough. Ye Mo finally realized that he was merely toying with the Ghost Vines, so she stopped worrying and quietly watched along with their six little ones.
The kids, however, couldn’t stop cheering. “Wow! Daddy is amazing!”
“Dad hit the left side! The left side!”
“Daddy, you’re the best!”
“Daddy, there’s one behind you!”
The little ones were excitedly shouting out, though Ye Mo doubted Mo Mo was paying much attention to their calls. Yet, every time they said something, he would follow their instructions.
Ye Mo couldn’t help but feel speechless. Who else could fight like this, while still humouring their kids? Only Mo Mo could do something like this. Was the Nascent Soul stage really that powerful? She couldn’t help feeling a twinge of jealousy.
Why was she still at the Golden Core stage? Every day, she was just trying not to fall behind her children, while Mo Mo was being idolized by them. The difference between them was just too vast!
Ye Mo thought it might be because she hadn’t been diligent enough in her training. If she had worked harder earlier on, maybe she wouldn’t be facing this issue now.
At this moment, Mo Mo had lost interest in his playful battle with the Ghost Vines. He began directly extracting soul power from them, and as he did, the Ghost Vines started trembling in fear. Mo Mo’s extraction left them almost entirely without the ability to cultivate.
Some of the Ghost Vines attempted to quietly flee, but Mo Mo wasn’t about to let them get away. As they retreated into the false planet’s ground, he followed them. If they weren’t coming to him, he’d go to them.
What Mo Mo didn’t expect was that the false planet itself would start attacking him.
Mo Mo squinted slightly. It seemed the gnomes living inside the false planet were protecting the Ghost Vines. There had to be some sort of deal between them; otherwise, the gnomes wouldn’t defend these man-eating vines so fiercely.
How many creatures had these Ghost Vines devoured? And where had all that blood and flesh come from? Besides the beasts lured to this planet, it likely included some of the gnomes as well.
Mo Mo reinforced his protective shield. The gnomes’ attacks couldn’t easily harm him, but their defence of the Ghost Vines only strengthened his resolve to wipe them out.
Beyond the Dark Realm, such creatures weren’t allowed to exist. They were simply too horrifying. For a Ghost Vine to grow into a Ghost King, it would need to consume millions of lives. The bones beneath its roots would pile high, and the Dark Realm couldn’t allow such a thing to escape into the human world.
Though the Dark Realm and the human world were at odds, there were agreements in between the various worlds. When creatures like Ghost Vines were encountered, Dark Realm beings were either to take them back or eliminate them. It was their duty.
Ye Mo watched as the false planet launched its attacks. Some of the projectiles even reached the ship. Thankfully, the warship’s defence system was powerful and had kept a good distance from the planet, or they’d have been riddled with holes.
When Mo Mo finally returned, six hours had passed. Ye Mo noticed that her husband’s cultivation level seemed to have increased significantly. How was he progressing so fast?
The first thing Mo Mo did upon his return was toss their six little ones back into the space, with the simple reason, “It’s dark. Time for bed!”
The six kids had wanted to snuggle with their dad, but before they could, they were all sent back into the space.
With the children out of the way, Mo Mo immediately grabbed Ye Mo and dragged her to their room.
Ye Mo had no idea why Mo Mo was in such a rush. Little did she know, he wanted to dual cultivate with her because he was overflowing with soul power and needed to release it.
As soon as they entered the room, Mo Mo threw her onto the bed.
“Why are you in such a hurry?”
“Can’t you sense my soul power spilling out? Babe, if you want to level up, you’d better listen to me.”
“How exactly do we… mmm…” Before she could finish, Mo Mo kissed her.
After the kiss, he pressed his forehead to hers and transmitted the dual cultivation technique to her…
