They Volunteered
Mo Mo and Ye Mo were currently feeling completely confused by Lu Ke’s roundabout explanations.
“Lu Ke, are you from the kind-hearted tribe?” Ye Mo asked, unsure of Lu Ke’s original form.
However, Mo Mo knew that Lu Ke was from the horse tribe. Although he looked a bit strange, most of his features resembled a horse. In his human form, though, he appeared quite pleasing, looking nothing like his original beast form.
“Of course! Our tribe has always been one of peace!” Lu Ke said proudly, clearly satisfied with his tribe’s reputation.
“So even if you’re enslaved, you still think peace is the most important?” Ye Mo couldn’t understand. She believed that where there is oppression, there must be resistance. If she were enslaved, she would never accept it so easily.
“Patience is a virtue of our tribe!” Lu Ke seemed to take pride in this.
Ye Mo was speechless. Patience was a virtue? Wasn’t it just cowardice? Perhaps there wasn’t even a word for cowardice among the beasts. She raised an eyebrow, her tone cold, “Right now, the beast tribes enslaving others have been cornered by the venomous snakes. Aren’t you planning to lead your kind to resist?”
Lu Ke shook his head. “We don’t have the strength for that. They’ve always been the most powerful of the beast tribes. Even though I seem strong, I’m far from their level.”
“Aren’t there many different types of beast tribes? Why don’t you all unite? If you joined forces, would you still be afraid of just one tribe?” Ye Mo asked, feeling a bit exasperated.
“Unite? What’s that?” Lu Ke looked confused.
Mo Mo pulled Ye Mo into his arms. “Sweetheart, maybe it’s best not to say too much. The more you talk, the angrier you’ll get. It’s not worth arguing with them. The beast tribes are all about the survival of the fittest. This is normal for them; they’re not like us humans.”
“Besides, beast tribes are inherently independent. There’s a saying: ‘Those who are not of our kind have different hearts.’ They are suspicious of each other; cooperation is impossible.”
Ye Mo blinked. “Are you implying something about us?”
After all, strictly speaking, they weren’t purely from the interstellar human race; they were from the Dark Realm.
Mo Mo laughed softly and kissed her forehead. “No matter what, we’re still humans, and we share the same form. But it’s different for beast tribes. The same form means the same tribe, but beasts come in all shapes and sizes. As long as they’re different, they don’t trust each other. You can’t force that.”
Ye Mo felt a bit dizzy from the conversation. So it all meant that beasts enslaving other beasts was like the old saying, “It’s just like Zhou Yu beating Huang Gai — one willing to hit, the other willing to take it.” If they were willing to endure it, there was no point in her meddling. It would be a waste of emotion!
If they didn’t want to resist, then let them be. It wasn’t her concern anyway!
Besides, the beast tribes being enslaved might have already gotten used to it. If they weren’t enslaved, they might even feel uneasy.
Ye Mo noticed that among the dominant beast tribes, besides the physically strong ones, others excelled in specific ways and lacked natural predators. So, the lack of resistance from other tribes was quite normal.
Moreover, for the beast tribes, with some already having ventured out of the Beast Domain, it didn’t matter if the invading tribes were the ones enslaving others. Through targeted propaganda by the dominant beast tribes, the enslaved ones would believe it was their masters who ventured out. So, upon hearing such news, the enslaved tribes would naturally feel even less inclined to resist!
Rulers always broadcast what benefits them the most. This is true for humans and any other race alike.
For the beast tribes, being able to contend with humans is seen as a major achievement.
Even someone as strong as Lu Ke had no thought of resisting. Instead, he was planning to travel across star fields alone, looking for a peaceful haven without conflict, rather than rebelling!
Ye Mo decided not to worry anymore. After all, if they were content with being enslaved, there was no point in stressing herself over it.
After Mo Mo and Ye Mo released the venomous snakes onto those beast-occupied planets, they would occasionally visit to observe the effects of the invasion.
What they saw was quite alarming. Due to the intrusion of the snakes, the beast tribes on these planets were thrown into chaos.
The disruption caused by the snakes was immense. Unlike other beast tribes, venomous snakes don’t play by any rules. Once released, they immediately began claiming territory and waging battles.
Being venomous snakes, they rarely lived in groups, preferring to stay on their own territory.
Once they claimed a spot, they wouldn’t tolerate anything or anyone in their space.
As a result, the native beast tribes on these planets suffered. Not only did they lose their territories to the snakes, but they were also driven away and attacked whenever they tried to return.
In less than half a month, chaos engulfed the planets, and the disorder on the home front inevitably affected the ongoing wars.
The invading beast tribes, which had previously been pushing into the Interstellar Alliance, somehow received news of this chaos. Previously, with no worries about their rear, they advanced without fear. But now, with chaos in their homeland, even the strongest warriors feared losing their homes.
After all, they hadn’t managed to conquer any of the Alliance’s planets, and the most critical issue was that none of the Interstellar Alliance’s planets had any vegetation. Survival was difficult for the beast tribes here.
Not every beast tribe could resort to eating humans!
Moreover, with no place to settle, and the severe shortage of food in the Interstellar Alliance, the beast tribes couldn’t bear it. Most of them preferred natural food, and none were willing to adapt to human ways and consume nutritional supplements.
The taste was simply intolerable for them.
Thus, the beast tribes began to retreat. In Districts 3 and 4, propaganda quickly took off again, with claims that they had finally defeated the beast tribes.
Mo Mo and Ye Mo never revealed that they were behind the snake invasions, so no one knew of their involvement.
While the districts boasted about their victory, the beast tribes might have retreated, but the insect tribes intensified their attacks.
Districts 3 and 4 soon found no time for self-congratulation, as they now had to focus entirely on dealing with the insect tribe onslaught.
After all, the districts had lost a significant number of space warriors, prompting their generals to seize the opportunity to enlist more soldiers.
