Chapter 87: Retrieve a Few Strands of Yan Wang’s Hair
Du Mansheng stood up. “That’s me.”
The nurse said, “You mentioned you’re also blood type B? Please come with me.”
The crowd was stunned. “Is there not enough blood?”
Typically, an adult donates around 400cc of blood, with emergency situations allowing for 600-800cc. Drawing over 1000cc risks dangerous complications like shock!
Yan Yueqing had been inside for over twenty minutes, and now the nurse was seeking more blood donors. Did this mean one person’s donation wasn’t sufficient? Was Xiaoyu’s condition truly critical?
Without answering, the nurse swiped her card to open the door and urged, “Come in first.”
Du Mansheng followed without hesitation.
Witnessing this, Song Hui’s frown deepened further.
Once the operating room doors closed again, he slumped against the wall, sliding down as if drained of all energy. The sight prompted online viewers to exclaim in sympathy.
Instead of the discussion room, the nurse led Du Mansheng to the nearest transfusion room for blood collection.
Noticing the standard-sized vial, Du Mansheng asked in surprise, “You’re only taking this much?”
While preparing the needle, the nurse explained, “Song Xiaoyu’s blood type is slightly unusual. We need to match it first. It might not even be used.”
Understanding now, Du Mansheng quieted down and cooperated.
Meanwhile, Song Xiaoyu had been moved to the isolation area for recovery. An anesthesiologist monitored her condition, ensuring she would wake up within the designated time.
Many doctors, fresh from their surgeries and hearing of Xiao Yi’s arrival, rushed to the discussion room. Instead of Xiao Yi, they found the hospital director enthusiastically chatting with two children.
Huh?!
Children?!
Since when were kids allowed in the ward?!
Only Director Liu was beaming with joy!
Xiao Yi’s appearance naturally confirmed Jun Yan’s identity. Who else could prompt Xiao Yi to travel so far on standby? It had to be the young master of the Jun family!
The child’s demeanor and eloquence were remarkable. Especially after Jun Yan decided to invest in one of their projects, Director Liu seemed ready to worship the boy!
In a secluded corner, Xiao Yi held his phone, smiling as he spoke softly, “I’ve seen the young master. He’s doing fine.”
“Jun Jiu said the young master urgently called you over. I feared something had happened,” Butler Mu sighed in relief over the phone. “How’s that girl, Xiao Yu?”
“She’ll be fine. Once the blood clot is cleared, there won’t be any lasting effects,” Xiao Yi replied confidently.
Butler Mu continued, “So you’re now with the young master and… that mother and son from the Yan family?”
“Yes.”
Butler Mu’s spirits lifted, and his kindly expression brightened. “Find a quieter place where no one can overhear us.”
Though puzzled, Xiao Yi complied, stepping into an empty room nearby. “What’s this about? Why the secrecy?”
Butler Mu cleared his throat. “Perform a paternity test for Miss Yan and the young master.”
“Huh?!” Xiao Yi almost thought he’d misheard. “Uncle Mu, what are you up to?!”
“I have my reasons,” Butler Mu said seriously. “Just tell me if you agree.”
“Sss—” Xiao Yi inhaled sharply. “Doing a paternity test right in front of them… Isn’t that inappropriate?”
“Have you lost your wits? Where’s your usual cleverness?” Butler Mu scolded. “Of course they can’t know! Didn’t Yan Yueqing donate blood for Xiao Yu? Use the leftover blood in the bag. As for the young master, figure something out.”
After brief consideration, Xiao Yi agreed, “Alright.”
Butler Mu added, “Also, bring back a few strands of hair from the Yan child.”
“Huh?” Xiao Yi laughed. “Uncle Mu, have you been watching too many dramas? You don’t actually think the Yan mother and child are connected to our family head, do you?!”
“This is confidential. We’ll discuss it once the results are out,” Butler Mu said mysteriously.
“Fine, fine!” Xiao Yi chuckled in agreement.
After hanging up, Butler Mu watched the live broadcast on TV and sighed deeply.
As the young master had said, with the Jun family’s influence, they could surely uncover the truth if they wanted. Now, with this rare opportunity before them, it would be foolish not to act!
In the discussion room, Yan Yueqing had similar thoughts.
This wasn’t a romantic drama where one truth needed dozens of episodes for verification.
With her system as an advantage and knowing Xiao Yu wasn’t Song Hui’s biological child—and now having Du Mansheng as a likely candidate—why not clarify everything?
Were they saving it for the New Year?!
Xiao Yi, finishing his call, returned to the room, refreshed.
The nurse had just completed drawing the blood. “Dr. Xiao, everything’s ready.”
“Send the samples over first,” Xiao Yi instructed before approaching Yan Yueqing’s group. “You’re blood type B, right? What about the little one?”
Yan Yueqing replied, confused, “Both my son and I are type B.”
Xiao Yi smoothly responded, “Perfect! I’m currently researching type B blood. Would you mind providing samples for my study?”
Before Yan Yueqing could answer, Director Liu excitedly stood up. “Dr. Xiao, I’m type B too! Use mine!”
The other two department heads looked utterly dejected: Why am I type A?!
Fearing Yan Yueqing might catch on, Xiao Yi nodded convincingly. “That’s fine. The more samples, the better.”
Director Liu, beaming like a praised student, suggested, “How about I ask all the type B staff in the hospital to donate?”
“That won’t be necessary. It’s too much trouble,” Xiao Yi quickly declined. “I didn’t bring enough equipment to preserve that much.”
Noticing Yan Yueqing’s lingering reluctance, he sweetened the deal. “Your son looks a bit weak. Based on my research results, I could tailor some medication specifically for him.”
Jun Yan raised his eyes. “Sister Yueqing, his medical skills are quite impressive.”
Yan Yueqing knew this well. Completing brain surgery in just an hour, Xiao Yi’s skills were far beyond merely impressive.
After a moment’s hesitation, she decided to ask her son’s opinion. “What do you think, baobao?”
Yan Wang gave Xiao Yi a complex look, his demeanor mature like a miniature version of a family head.
Xiao Yi steadied himself, barely managing not to be intimidated!
After a pause, the boy finally replied in a low voice, “Okay.”
Xiao Yi chuckled awkwardly. “Ms. Yan, your son certainly has quite the presence…” Then, with a bold move, he quickly ruffled Jun Yan’s hair.
Before Jun Yan could even register any discomfort, Xiao Yi’s hand was back in his pocket. “Let’s go. I’ll draw your blood first, then conduct the paternity test for Song Xiaoyu.”
