Chapter 89: The A City Kidnapping Case from Years Ago
Xiao Yi hadn’t been this shocked since Young Master Yan was brought back to the Jun family.
No way… Out of China’s population of over a billion, the young master just happened to find his birth mother on a casual outing?!
How could such a coincidence occur? Considering this woman had previously helped Young Master Yan, she likely already knew the truth and was deliberately setting a trap for him.
After pondering for a moment, his gaze locked onto Yan Wang’s blood sample…
If Young Master Yan and Yan Yueqing were mother and son, then what about this child and the Family Head?
Goodness! This conspiracy was far beyond anything he could have imagined!
After careful consideration, Xiao Yi turned his back and, out of everyone’s sight, stashed away the full report and samples. He then grabbed another report and left the room.
“How is it?” Jun Yan raised an eyebrow. “Is it as I guessed?”
Xiao Yi first glanced at Young Master Yan, then fixed his gaze on Yan Yueqing’s face.
Such a beautiful young woman, how could she have such deep schemes?!
Without a word, he handed the report directly to her.
Yan Yueqing didn’t notice Xiao Yi’s unusual behavior. She took the report with both hands and, seeing the test results at the bottom, softly gasped.
It really was true?!!!
Xiao Yi watched her reaction intently, just as Yan Wang’s indifferent eyes remained locked on him.
After a moment, Yan Yueqing folded the report. “Baobao, Yan Bao, let me take you two out first. Why don’t you stay with little sister Tang Tang for a while?”
Jun Yan asked, “Does Sister Yueqing want to talk to Aunt Du alone?”
“Yes.” Yan Yueqing then looked at Xiao Yi. “Mr. Xiao, please don’t tell anyone else about this matter.”
Xiao Yi nodded. “Du Mansheng is resting in the blood transfusion room. You can go there first. I’ll take care of these two little ones. You coming and going might draw attention.”
“That’s fine, thank you for your trouble.” After expressing her gratitude, Yan Yueqing took the report and went to find Du Mansheng.
Once she left, Xiao Yi finally withdrew his scrutinizing gaze and said gently, “Let’s go.”
Yan Wang didn’t move. His cold, frail face suddenly radiated an unsettling chill. “Just now, you only did a paternity test?”
Xiao Yi was momentarily stunned by his aura, almost instinctively revealing the truth.
He caught himself just in time. “Of course! What else could I have done?”
Yan Wang’s beautiful, ice-clear eyes, like gemstones, narrowed slightly.
Xiao Yi shuddered.
Damn! Was there even a need for a paternity test between the Family Head and Yan Wang? Wasn’t this clearly the little Family Head?!
It was normal for Jun Yan to have a similar temperament to the Family Head since he was raised by him! But how could Yan Wang, who didn’t know him, possess the same aura? This would be impossible to explain if they weren’t related by blood!
Xiao Yi feared Jun Yan out of courtesy and respect for the next Family Head; but his fear of Yan Wang… stemmed completely from an innate blood pressure…
Even walking ahead, he didn’t dare look back at Yan Wang.
That feeling… was utterly terrifying!
Yan Wang was clearly just a child, yet his eyes were like scanners, seeming to see through one’s thoughts? It was best to keep quiet!
Inside the blood transfusion room…
After the nurse took the blood sample and left, Du Mansheng sat alone for nearly half an hour. She wanted to ask about Song Xiaoyu’s condition, but the medical staff outside were busy arranging surgeries, as if they had forgotten her existence.
Du Mansheng didn’t want to cause trouble for the hospital. After much internal conflict, she decided to sit quietly and wait.
Finally, with a click, the door opened.
Du Mansheng looked up hopefully, only to see Yan Yueqing enter.
“Yueqing? You’re back? How’s Xiaoyu? The nurse drew my blood earlier and just left. I don’t know if it can be used… I didn’t dare go out to ask…”
“Mrs. Song, please sit down. Xiaoyu is fine now.” Yan Yueqing closed the door behind her.
Seeing her demeanor, Du Mansheng asked curiously, “Is something the matter?”
Yan Yueqing hesitated briefly. “Mrs. Song, there’s something I’d like to ask you about. There are cameras watching outside, so it’s not convenient to talk. So…”
Du Mansheng understood and sat back down quietly, saying gently, “Don’t worry, if there’s anything inconvenient, we can discuss it here.”
“I have a friend…” Yan Yueqing began to fabricate a story. “Seven years ago, she gave birth to a child in a hospital in Neihai City, and happened to encounter a baby kidnapping case.”
Du Mansheng’s face paled. She bit her lip and was silent for a moment. “This incident… was targeted at my husband…”
“Oh?”
This matter had caused quite a stir in Neihai City at the time, even making headlines. There wasn’t much to hide.
“The Song family’s business was very large and had offended quite a few people… When I was giving birth, a group of maniacs took the opportunity to try to kidnap the child and demand a ransom of 200 million!”
Recalling that chaotic time, Du Mansheng’s heart raced. “At that time, my husband had allocated most of the resources to a new batch of goods for the company, so the hospital security arrangements were somewhat lacking. Fortunately, my father had secretly sent people to protect me, so those criminals didn’t succeed, but it also caused a lot of trouble for the hospital.”
Yan Yueqing nodded knowingly. “Yes, I heard from my friend… During the chaos, nurses hurriedly carried the babies to avoid the attack, but later couldn’t tell which bed the babies in their arms belonged to?”
“Mm.” Du Mansheng agreed. “This was all because of us, so the Song family paid for paternity tests for all the babies in that batch, and also reimbursed their parents for hospitalization expenses, which finally settled the matter.”
Yan Yueqing finally realised where things didn’t add up. She changed her form of address, no longer calling her Mrs. Song, but using her name instead. “Sister Mansheng, given that paternity tests were conducted, do you think it’s still possible for parents to have taken the wrong child?”
Du Mansheng instinctively shook her head. “How is that possible? The hospital took this matter very seriously! From blood sampling to report verification, it was all one-on-one service. There’s no way it could be wrong! Unless someone deliberately sabotaged it! You’re saying this… Could it be that your friend’s child… isn’t her biological child?!”
Yan Yueqing didn’t answer her, but asked, “Do you remember the Song Hui couple? They also had their child in that hospital back then!”
The Song Hui couple?!
Du Mansheng widened her eyes in surprise. “I did feel they looked a bit familiar, as if I’d seen them before? But including us, fifteen couples took a photo together the day the test results came out, in case there were any disputes in the future for mutual contact. I can be certain, the Song Hui couple wasn’t among them!”
“But they did give birth to Song Xiaoyu at that time.”
Du Mansheng frowned, muttering, “How is that possible… I remember that batch of children clearly…”
Suddenly, a flash of realisation struck her, and she abruptly looked up. “No! That’s not right! It wasn’t fifteen babies… it was… it was sixteen!”
