When Gao Zhou led the three kids out of the ocean park, Yu Jinxiao almost didn’t recognize them.
Normally serious and reliable, Gao Zhou was now wearing a penguin hat, and a penguin keychain dangled from his phone, swaying as he walked.
Yu Yingze was dressed in a polar bear vest, with the hood covering his head and two white ears sticking out.
Even Yu Jinxiao’s typically mature and sensible eldest son was holding a polar bear plush, leading Yu Yuanyuan, who was covered in various “fish” keychains.
Her bright yellow backpack was crammed with at least ten keychains.
In her short arms, she also clutched a flopping fish pillow with crossed-out eyes.
The length of that fish… was nearly the same as Yu Yuanyuan’s height.
“Daddy!” As soon as the little dumpling saw Yu Jinxiao, her voice was sweet as sugar. She let go of Gao Zhou’s hand and ran straight to his legs.
Yu Jinxiao’s pride got the better of him—he didn’t squat down to prepare for a hug, intentionally bending down slowly. “Did you have fun?”
“So much fun!” Yu Yuanyuan hurriedly opened her backpack, pulling something out to hand to him. “This is for Daddy.”
A pitch-black keychain. Yu Jinxiao had never seen such an ugly fish.
But since his little girl bought it for him, there had to be a reason.
Just as Yu Jinxiao was feeling pleased that she hadn’t forgotten about him, he heard her start explaining the keychain’s story: “This is called a… a devil fish! I thought it’s perfect for Daddy!”
A bolt from the blue left Yu Jinxiao stunned.
She used to say, “Daddy’s a good person,” over and over. And now, because he hadn’t taken her to the aquarium, he’d fallen from grace to become a “devil dad”?
In reality, Yu Yuanyuan thought the black fish resembled her “Black Panther Daddy” from fairyland—both were dark and cool-looking.
As for the “devil” part, she hadn’t given it a second thought.
“Mr. Yu, how did things go?” Gao Zhou, still holding an ice cream cone, asked while eating.
Yu Jinxiao’s sharp gaze swept over the three kids. Seeing no trace of ice cream on them, he sighed in relief.
At least Gao Zhou hadn’t completely lost his mind by giving them sugary junk food.
In truth, Gao Zhou had bought each of them a cone before they came out, specifically instructing them to finish it and keep it a secret.
“I don’t know if I’ve resolved things.” Thinking about the mess he’d seen at the office, Yu Jinxiao felt more stressed than the night before.
Gao Zhou froze, ice cream melting onto his hand. “Huh?”
“Forget it. Let’s get in the car.” Yu Jinxiao turned to leave, but a small hand tugged at his sleeve.
Yu Yuanyuan smiled brightly, raising her hand. “Daddy, Yuanyuan wants to take a picture with you.”
She pointed toward the entrance. Although the aquarium had closed, there was no problem taking a picture by the gate.
And with no other visitors, it was actually a better time for photos.
Yu Jinxiao, surprised by the sudden attention, calmly picked up the little dumpling. Yu Mingxi and Yu Yingze quickly flanked him, one on each side.
“I want a picture with Daddy too.”
“Me too.”
The responsibility of taking the photo fell to Gao Zhou. After adjusting the frame, he raised a hand and began to count, “Alright, ready… three, two…”
“One!” Yu Yuanyuan happily raised her little paw.
Suddenly, Yu Jinxiao caught a whiff of something sweet wafting from the little dumpling’s fingers. “Yu Yuanyuan, did you eat ice cream??”
“Huh?” Caught red-handed, Yu Yuanyuan shrank back, guilt written all over her face.
At that exact moment, Yu Jinxiao shot a fierce glare at Gao Zhou, who was holding the camera—just in time for the lens to capture his angry expression perfectly.
