Chapter 26 The Beauty of a Man, the Glory of a Wife!
Xia Yuan’s heart thumped strongly for a few beats.
She felt that Qin Mohuai was somewhat different from the mad male lead in the original story; it seemed like his eyes only had her in them…
Of course, since she was the one dating Qin Mohuai, he would only have eyes for her.
If all of this were true, Xia Yuan would probably indulge in his meticulous care, but she was unsure if she could handle Qin Mohuai’s domineering possessiveness.
Xia Yuan was frail; a simple cold could leave her groggy for half a month. That’s why Qin Mohuai had agreed to only have intimacy during her ovulation period for having children.
That evening, Qin Mohuai held Xia Yuan in the basement while watching a movie. The suspense and twists in the police-and-thief film were gripping, but Qin Mohuai had no interest in the film and focused his gaze on Xia Yuan.
Her delicate face, as smooth as goose fat, was youthful; after all, she was only 21 this year. Her long, ink-black hair was styled in a bun, and the pink qipao hugged her curves, complementing her figure. While the movie played scenes of gunfire and chaos, Qin Mohuai buried his head in Xia Yuan’s fair neck, nibbling at her skin.
Xia Yuan was taken aback, not just because of the film’s plot twists but also due to Qin Mohuai’s seemingly insatiable energy. Although the original author had portrayed him as having an addiction, didn’t every domineering CEO pride themselves on their self-control?
“I’m not catnip; why are you always sniffing me?”
She had to change her seat, warily watching Qin Mohuai, her eyes mirroring the disbelief of the female cop in the movie.
“Yesterday you already broke our agreement; do you want to break it again today? Even if you want to, my waist can’t take it anymore.”
She covered the decorative button he had loosened; it was hard to fasten the white jade button with one hand, and in the process, she had accidentally loosened two more, exposing a small patch of creamy skin.
Qin Mohuai’s eyes narrowed, his gaze holding a fierce intensity, as if anyone who displeased him would become a ghost beneath his black trousers.
“Baby, if I don’t touch you tonight, come here and let me kiss you.” His voice dropped to a husky whisper, laced with an indescribable longing.
In her heart, Xia Yuan cursed him as a tyrant. Thankfully, this was a society governed by law; if it were the evil feudal society, with Qin Mohuai’s ambition and desires, he might truly become a tyrant.
A king with such centralized power—one could only imagine the terrifying extent of his desire for control. But for now, he was at least negotiating with her.
Understanding his intentions, Xia Yuan returned to her seat, only to be swept up into his arms halfway there.
“Don’t struggle. I’ll be on a business trip tomorrow, probably in Country M for about seven days, at most ten days before I come back. Is there anything you want? Think about it, and let me know anytime. I’ll bring it back for you.”
“Oh.”
—
Xia Yuan’s heart softened for a moment, and she was at his mercy.
The next day, when she woke up at noon, Qin Mohuai had already boarded the flight to Country M.
Holding a white porcelain bowl, she sipped the meticulously prepared lamb soup from the kitchen. Her fingers were slender and fair, with clean and healthy-looking nails. Xia Yuan was being well taken care of by Qin Mohuai.
“Uncle Wang, I’m going back to school today. My advisor said my thesis could be improved further, and face-to-face guidance would be more efficient. I might have dinner outside tonight,” she said.
Uncle Wang replied, “Got it. I’ll arrange for the driver to take you there.”
Xia Yuan smiled, “No need! I’ll drive that white Maybach.”
Uncle Wang understood. The young lady had received a precious gift and wanted to show it off, which he could support.
Xia Yuan dating Qin Mohuai couldn’t possibly be because she liked his personality—who would like his temper? Uncle Wang felt that if Xia Yuan didn’t seek out Qin Mohuai’s wealth, this relationship might not last long. If one day she decided to break up, would Qin Mohuai go mad?
—
**At Xiangzhou Chinese University.**
Xia Yuan parked the flashy white Maybach outside the school gate and walked to meet her advisor to revise her thesis.
Under Professor Li’s guidance, she corrected several formatting errors in her thesis. After all, each university had different requirements, and she made a note of the suggestions he provided.
Li Zhiyuan adjusted his glasses and said, “I had planned to take you all out for a meal today, as it’s my first time guiding a student in writing a thesis. However, two students suddenly can’t make it, so let’s gather next time.”
Xia Yuan nodded.
Perhaps it was just a teacher’s instinct to worry, as Li Zhiyuan subtly commented, “Xiangzhou Chinese University is a 985 institution with a high level of recognition. After graduation, you can expect a salary of eight or nine thousand. Even if you don’t choose a related profession, you’ll still stand out in various fields. Having read so much, you should know that inner peace is more important than appearance. Although the beauty industry is thriving, interesting souls are rare.”
Xia Yuan understood; Professor Li thought she had undergone cosmetic surgery. When she first arrived, ‘Xia Yuan’ had been a bit thin and dispirited, not fitting the mold of a beauty, but with good potential that could be nurtured.
She glanced at the girl in the mirror. With features that sparkled with vitality and skin as white as jade, she truly possessed a rare beauty.
Indeed, her looks were not something an ordinary person could achieve, nor were they the result of high-tech enhancements; they seemed like a gift from heaven.
Xia Yuan was a naturally beautiful woman. She was surprised when she first arrived that this cannon fodder supporting character looked just like her.
“Professor Li, I’m scared of needles; there’s no way I would fly to Country H for plastic surgery. My home is full of handsome men and beautiful women. If I ended up disfigured, wouldn’t I just be a clown?”
She showed Li Zhiyuan a family photo on her phone, and his gaze fell on Xia Yi’s face. Xia Yi wore a black T-shirt, and thanks to her fitness routine, her shoulders weren’t slender but rather strong. Her face had a tight, sharp beauty, reminiscent of fresh snow.
Li Zhiyuan’s eyes glimmered with intrigue.
—
Li Zhiyuan exclaimed in surprise, “Who is this?”
Xia Yuan replied, “That’s my dad.”
Even past forty, he remained a handsome youth in black.
“The boy standing behind my dad is my younger brother. When this family photo was taken, neither my brother nor I had fully matured yet.”
So, they had been overshadowed by their stunningly beautiful father.
Of course, the most overshadowed was Xia Yuzhe. Now a star, even with a professional styling team, he still found himself eclipsed by Xia Yi when they took photos together.
Xia Yuzhe had a deep collaboration with a certain magazine and wanted to bring Xia Yi along for a magazine cover shoot. He had even met with the photographer.
The photographer was eagerly looking forward to Xia Yi’s performance in front of the camera. A beauty with both husbandly charm and youthful energy, Xia Yi was just what the entertainment industry was lacking!
But in the end, Xia Yi refused because he didn’t want to make his wife, Liang Min, feel insecure, nor did he want to steal his son’s thunder. He had no interest in the spotlight that came with being a star.
Xia Yi was content to stay by his sister-in-law Liang Min’s side, enjoying a warm family life.
Li Zhiyuan handed the phone back to Xia Yuan, his expression complicated. “While interesting souls are rare, beautiful appearances are even fewer.”
Xia Yuan thought the same when she first met Xia Yi.
The beauty of a man is the honor of his wife.
—
As Xia Yuan left the campus and prepared to get her car, two bodyguards in black approached her and nodded respectfully.
“Miss Xia, the old master wants to see you. Please come with us.”
