{He held the kid, but she… 1}
Bian Yixing was still upset. Even though she knew her dad, Bian Yuan, was racing to her like the wind, she couldn’t help but mumble on the phone, repeating the girl’s cruel thoughts and remarks.
With her childlike voice saying, “How could she say that?” it was oddly cute, but to Bian Yuan, it sounded like a little old lady endlessly repeating herself.
However, Bian Yuan absolutely refused to let anything happen to Yixing.
“First, protect yourself. Remember their appearances and where they live.”
“C12 Building, 229, two girls—one is Su Su’s junior, the other is her roommate.”
Knowing the little one was thinking clearly eased Bian Yuan’s anxiety somewhat.
But the Bluetooth in the car kept looping.
“Faster, faster!”
“Are you still coming to protect your cute daughter?”
“Do you really not love me anymore!?”
Bian Yuan couldn’t understand why, in this day and age, so many people promoted the benefits of having daughters. Regardless of gender, he didn’t want any more children.
Yet, he drove straight onto campus, stopping under Wang Shiren’s building.
Yixing finally awaited her father’s rescue.
She couldn’t say she was completely satisfied, but at least she wouldn’t have to constantly fear that an unstable woman would lash out at her. Just as she hung up, she noticed her father turning the car around due to a parking violation.
Then, Wang Shiren rushed out.
Standing in the crowded corridor, Yixing heard the woman’s taunts.
“Still looking for backup to get back at me?”
“My dad says only those on the same level talk about revenge—you’re not worth it.”
“Little friend, are you crazy? Do you know what you’re saying? Talking about your dad, who even knows where those poor relatives of Yu Suye came from?”
“Also, did I give you face today?” Wang Shiren had finally put on a set of sportswear to come out, but she didn’t expect that the little brat wouldn’t give up. She had an expression just like Yu Suye, full of self-righteousness. She couldn’t help but curse, “You’re the one who shamelessly threw things in my face!”
“You stink.”
Wang Shiren hated it the most when some people supposedly cared about these hygiene details.
When she goes home on weekends, she naturally has the housekeeper to do these things for her. She doesn’t want this little brat to spread the word about it everywhere; she would rather cover the little friend’s mouth with the hand she used to pick up the sock.
Let her be smug; she doesn’t know her limits.
She doesn’t even think about who she offended today.
No one would save her.
Suddenly, her vision became hazy for a moment. Perhaps the bright winter light was too intense, or maybe she had just stepped out from the dim dormitory.
The sky outside was too bright
A tall man in a gray trench coat walked into the nineties building that didn’t fit him.
He held the child who just a while ago was scared with one hand.
The child twisted over and jumped into his arms, mumbling complaints indistinctly.
After Wang Shiren realized what might have happened, she tried to rush in front of the man to explain, but she found that he carried the little girl without the slightest hesitation.
There was not a hint of anyone else in his peripheral vision.
The proud man took off his gloves and awkwardly wiped the child’s tears. Seeing that the actual financial situation of Yu Suye’s relatives differed from her expectations, Wang Shiren wished she could instantly put on a different face.
She even felt that she had some impression of this man’s face.
At that moment, prompted by her roommate, she vaguely remembered that this was the person her senior had wanted to interview several times but had never managed to contact.
How could this person be related to Yu Suye’s family?
What kind of existence was this child in all of this?
Wang Shiren didn’t have time to think for long. Seeing the man leaving with the child, she immediately rushed after them without a second thought.
“Are you Mr. Bian?”
“I’m the sister responsible for taking care of little Xingxing today. I don’t really know how to say this,” she stammered, her heart racing faster the closer she got to his perfect, impeccable face. But the man’s attitude was very cold, so she had no choice but to lean in and say, “I’m different from others; I’ve never interacted with children like this before, so there might be a bit of misunderstanding between me and Xingxing.”
“Misunderstanding?”
It was as if those two words were an unnecessary display of disdain.
“Yes, yes! A child as lovely as Xingxing, I cherish her even more!”
Bian Yuxing whispered to his father, “Hypocritical woman.”
Bian Yuan chuckled, “I thought you were quite sharp-tongued on your own just now; why do you suddenly want your dad to back you up?”
Upon hearing the word “dad,” Wang Shiren finally understood the exact relationship between the two. She suddenly felt that the situation was far more serious than she had imagined.
She followed them closely, apologizing in a low voice.
But she couldn’t wait for the man to acknowledge her even once.
“Can you walk on your own?”
After saying this, Bian Yuan released the child after receiving a complete affirmation from him. He turned around, not even glancing at her.
Wang Shiren finally awaited her judgment.
The man uttered a curt word through his thin, cold lips, “Get lost.”
Of course, Bian Yuan wouldn’t have the compassion to forgive someone just because they lowered their head and admitted their mistakes.
That evening, Wang Shiren was invited to the principal’s office at J University for tea.
Later that night, she and her roommate were removed from the dormitory, and during their junior year, she completely lost her student status.
But due to this turn of events, Bian Yuxing was “forced” to return home with her father, and with her lively and cheerful mother gone, she spent her days in gloom, hardly stepping out.
“If I had known, I wouldn’t have bothered with that cruel-hearted woman.”
