Chapter 483: Liu Churan’s Crazed Whipping
Liu Churan’s aura manifested as a golden skeletal figure with red chains, while Madam Yu’s took the form of a red skeletal bride. Although neither woman spoke, their auras were clashing in the air, creating a spectacular display.
“Auntie, when did you get here?”
Qiao Ni was curious about Liu Churan’s sudden appearance. Liu Churan merely smiled and replied, “I’ve been here for a while now. I heard you were staying at this inn, so I thought I’d come by to check on you.”
Her smile remained, but it was clear that neither Madam Yu nor Qiao Ni had any intention of asking “Gu Qingcheng” to leave. As an outsider, “Gu Qingcheng” could hardly say anything in this situation.
“What are you doing here?” Madam Yu’s tone was cold, making it evident she wasn’t pleased to see Liu Churan again.
Their relationship had soured over a decade ago due to a certain incident, leaving only a harmonious facade. Unless there was something pressing, neither sister would seek out the other.
“I’m just following your instructions, sister. I bring news.” Liu Churan continued to smile, using veiled words, not wanting Qiao Ni or “Gu Qingcheng” to hear the confidential matters.
Madam Yu’s expression grew serious. After a brief hesitation, she said, “Ni Ni, go play with Xiao Hei for a while.”
Noticing her mother’s stern look, Qiao Ni understood there was no reason for her to stay, so she tugged “Gu Qingcheng” along as they left the room. The two of them sat in a courtyard about a hundred meters away, where they could still see Fairy Fengya meditating in silence.
“Fairy Fengya is so strange. She’s been in that position for a few days now.”
Qiao Ni glanced up at the woman perched on the rooftop. She couldn’t comprehend how someone could find joy in being so still.
With Madam Yu and Liu Churan no longer around, “Gu Qingcheng” loosened her mask, revealing part of her face, and also looked up at Fairy Fengya on the roof.
She understood just how dedicated Fairy Fengya was to cultivation. If not for the fact that the Azure Wings Sect had assigned her here, who knew how much longer she would have remained hidden deep in some remote mountain.
“Gu Qingcheng” recalled her previous plan, which involved using Fairy Fengya to keep Liu Churan in check. However, plans couldn’t adapt to changes. She still couldn’t separate from Qiao Ni, so she had to abandon that opportunity. With that thought, “Gu Qingcheng” focused and tuned in to the sounds around her, making sure that issues wouldn’t arise in Madam Yu and Liu Churan’s meeting.
After all, no matter how unhinged Liu Churan had become, or how much she leaned towards the path of a villain, she would ultimately not dare to threaten a dying person like Madam Yu.
Patiently, “Gu Qingcheng” waited, while Qiao Ni grew increasingly restless beside her.
“What’s wrong, Young Miss?”
“Gu Qingcheng” couldn’t hold back from asking, when she noticed Qiao Ni’s agitation had grown too intense, sparking an ominous feeling within her as well.
Qiao Ni frowned slightly and said, “I don’t know. I just feel anxious, like something big is about to happen.”
She placed a hand over her heart, feeling increasingly unsettled. Her worried gaze drifted up toward the room where Madam Yu and Liu Churan were, and she voiced her concern.
“Xiao Hei, do you think we could go check on them? I feel like something was not right with my mother earlier.”
“Gu Qingcheng” recalled Madam Yu’s health condition; even if Liu Churan didn’t take action, it wouldn’t be long before she succumbed. Moreover, Liu Churan had no real reason to attack Madam Yu, which made her feel that Qiao Ni was being paranoid.
However, that paranoia seemed to have spread to “Gu Qingcheng”, who began to feel uneasy and restless herself. The prolonged waiting only intensified her desire to take action.
Unable to sit still, Qiao Ni suddenly dashed off to check on Madam Yu and Liu Churan. “Gu Qingcheng” gently picked her up, and adjusted her mask to its proper position.
“I’ll take you there.”
Once she received a nod from Qiao Ni, “Gu Qingcheng” soared through the air with Phantom Step, and instantly reached Madam Yu’s window.
The window was closed and a bloody aura permeated the room. Without hesitation, “Gu Qingcheng” broke through the window, only to find Madam Yu lying on the floor. Suspended in the air above her was an umbrella, and a stunning female ghost was drawing on Madam Yu’s Yin energy.
The scene was both erotic and captivating, and this ghost happened to be one of the Yin-Yang ghosts, Ghost Mother.
Ghost Mother didn’t judge by appearance, and in one glance, she immediately recognized “Gu Qingcheng” as her master, Ye Wenxin. Recalling the candlelit nightly discussions she had with Liu Churan, Ghost Mother winked at “Gu Qingcheng”, as if telling her something.
Amidst her bewilderment, “Gu Qingcheng” saw Qiao Ni anxiously approach Madam Yu. Madam Yu had completely fainted, yet her complexion appeared normal. It looked like her illness had allieviated after Ghost Mother absorbed her Yin energy.
Liu Churan was sitting nearby, wearing a faux smile, severely displeased by “Gu Qingcheng’s” disturbance. With a flick of her wrist, she lashed out with the long whip in her hand. “Gu Qingcheng” furrowed her brow; she hadn’t taught her foster daughter to greet others with a whip. Concerned that Liu Churan’s strike might harm Qiao Ni, who was stuck to her, “Gu Qingcheng” quickly pulled the girl back, and caught hold of the red whip.
The whip was slightly warm, and even a light touch could be fatal. “Gu Qingcheng” knew that even at the cost of exposing herself, she must not get hit. When Liu Churan attempted to pull the whip back with her strength, she suddenly realized that the person before her possessed immeasurable power.
Liu Churan continued to smile. “I didn’t expect you to have an expert by your side, sister. But soon, she’ll only have one hand left!”
She abandoned the whip and charged at “Gu Qingcheng”, seemingly intent on killing her, before she could become a powerful aide under Madam Yu.
The nature of the relationship between these sisters was hard to pin down, but Liu Churan’s increasingly villainous behavior was a near unbearable sight for “Gu Qingcheng”. As she sensed Liu Churan’s bloodthirst, and felt Liu Churan directing three-tenths of her strength at her, “Gu Qingcheng” could only use the techniques she had learned from other sects’ to deal with her.
“Buddhist techniques? Another nun from Southern Dipper Temple, I see. Hehe, it seems I truly have a fate with you all.”
Liu Churan’s smile was chilling. As she slightly extended her hand, the abandoned whip immediately flew back to her. At another violent lash of the whip, “Gu Qingcheng” dodged swiftly. The whip struck the empty spot.
Strangely, however, it produced no sound at all. “Gu Qingcheng” had never encountered a whip technique like this. She had hoped to attract others to them, and put an end to the farce in this room, but that idea was clearly out.
Liu Churan seemed to be enjoying herself immensely, intent on playing with “Gu Qingcheng”.
Her Rapturous Whip had almost rendered even Abbess Jiunan of Southern Dipper Temple into a different state. Liu Churan doubted that the subordinate before her could put up any significant resistance.
