The Female Supporting Character Who Accompanied The Main Character Through Poverty Has Awakened: Chapter 18-4

{Shen Qi was concise: “The airport.” 4}

Shen Qiyue’s little plan was nearly impossible to hide, and she quickly told her mother everything once again.

Although Shen Qi didn’t understand his daughter’s overly eager excitement, it didn’t interfere with his plans.

What he wanted was for everything to stay under his control, without the slightest deviation. He didn’t care about the so-called feelings of children, believing that their thoughts were meaningless and foolish.

Shen Qiyue quickly changed into her pastel blue dress, and seeing her brother in his formal suit, she couldn’t resist teasing him, “Don’t think that just because you’re dressed like that, Dad’s company will all be yours.”

Watching her reserved brother fall silent, she was satisfied.

It wasn’t that she wanted to discourage him—it was simply that their family was too wealthy. So wealthy, that if she didn’t fight for her share, she’d be an idiot. Shen Qiyue didn’t just want a complete family; she believed that the majority of the family fortune should belong to her.

Shen Qi, indifferent to the small interruptions happening around him, regarded it all as nothing more than idle chatter.

Shen Qi closed the car door.

Inside the black business car sat a family dressed in their finest. In terms of appearance alone, they were indeed a striking group—especially Shen Qi, whose naturally cold but irresistibly captivating face had only become more refined with time. The youthful energy he once had had faded, replaced by a cool, distant aura that was somehow incredibly magnetic.

The car’s Harman Kardon speakers played loud, energetic music.

Of the two children, Shen Qinian was tense and uneasy, while Shen Qiyue was brimming with excitement, as if she was about to witness something significant.

Shen Qiyue couldn’t hold back any longer. Propping her chin up, she asked, “Dad, where are we going?”

Shen Qi’s answer was concise: “The airport.”

Shen Qiyue was puzzled, her long lashes fluttering. “What are we going to the airport for?”

Could it be that the venue for the grand gesture her father had planned for her mother was in another city, and they were now heading there?

If so, it would show how much effort her father had put into this. But the little girl still hesitated and tried to ask more clearly, “Dad, are we going somewhere out of town?”

Usually, this was when her father would tell her to stop talking.

But today, Shen Qi didn’t. After a brief pause, he responded deliberately, “To pick someone up.”

“Pick someone up?!”

Shen Qiyue was so startled that she spilled hot chocolate all over herself and nearly fell out of her seat.

“Who are we picking up?” She was afraid that being too direct would annoy her father, so she instinctively adjusted her question, forcing an awkward smile. “Dad, I mean, which friend of yours are we picking up?”

In her heart, Shen Qiyue already had a guess, though she was deeply reluctant to admit it. She had to be on guard, fearing the most likely possibility—that they were going to pick up her.

Though she had guessed the person’s name, when her father finally said it out loud, she still felt immense resistance.

Over and over, she silently prayed that it wouldn’t be that woman.

But the truth was merciless.

Her father finally spoke the two familiar yet strange words: “Qian Xu.”

All the effort Shen Qiyue had put into trying to reconcile her parents seemed to crumble in an instant.

She had once thought Qian Xu was nothing more than an ordinary woman, foolishly naive—perhaps stirring a ripple in her father’s heart, but insignificant to their family.

However, today it seemed that her father had seen through her reluctance all along. Almost immediately after uttering that woman’s name, he said, without a second thought, “If you don’t want to, you can get out of the car right now.”

The driver, hearing this, promptly pulled the business car over to the side of the road, where the grass grew thick and wild.
