Crying?
“Yuanyuan didn’t cry,” the little girl raised her head, revealing a small red mark on her forehead.
She carefully observed the old man in front of her, suddenly standing upright as she tilted her head and asked, “Grandpa, did you get hurt?”
The old man, whose expression had been filled with impatience, was taken aback. He seemed
surprised that this little child hadn’t cried.
Judging by the earlier collision, it must have hurt quite a bit. He had expected an outburst of tears and wailing, something he found utterly intolerable.
He despised the noisy crying of children and certainly wasn’t the type to offer sympathy just because someone was young.
“You’re not a car. How could you have hurt me?” the old man scoffed, raising his chin disdainfully and giving the little girl, who barely reached his knees, a dismissive glance.
She was a small, chubby little thing, admittedly cute, but she didn’t seem very bright—clueless and lacking in any cleverness.
Hmph, he couldn’t stand kids who were slow-witted.
“It’s a good thing I’m not a car, otherwise I would have hurt you, Grandpa!” Yuanyuan said cheerfully. She stood up straight and rubbed her forehead before stepping aside to make way for him. “Grandpa, you need to be careful!”
The old man was speechless.
He had been bracing himself for a drawn-out battle with this brat, but now it felt like his punch had landed on soft cotton.
Yuanyuan skipped back to the waitress and stretched out her little hand. “Big sister…”
The waitress, still concerned, took her hand and, once the old man was out of sight, knelt down to check on her. “Are you hurt, little one? Does anything hurt? Your hands? Your feet?”
“Nope, nothing hurts at all. Grandpa’s not a car, so I didn’t get hurt,” Yuanyuan reassured her, still full of energy, with no sign of tears.
The waitress, still a little uneasy, decided it was best to take Yuanyuan back to Yu Jinxiao.
After all, with all the commotion, nearly half an hour had passed, and she couldn’t afford to delay any longer.
As she led Yuanyuan toward the private room, she spotted Yu Jinxiao waiting in the lounge area.
Uh-oh.
The moment their eyes met, the waitress felt as if a knife had been placed at her throat. The fear she had been trying to shake off now returned in full force.
It was undeniable that the man sitting there exuded an irresistible charm.
But even more powerful than his charm was the overwhelming sense of danger he carried.
Ever since Yu Jinxiao became single again, many women had tried to approach him. No matter how poisonous or thorny the flower, there were always those willing to take the risk.
But without exception, they all met terrible fates.
Those who attempted to seduce him were left hanging from a tree, displayed like smoked meat for three days on the busiest street;
Those who tried to approach him through work or flirtatious gestures were blacklisted from their entire industry, barely escaping a life of begging on the streets;
One woman even tried to drug him, only for him to switch the drinks and have her repeatedly hospitalized for stomach pumping, leaving her with a lifelong trauma.
Yu Jinxiao never showed leniency, regardless of gender. Once he decided someone had crossed the line, there was no chance of mercy.
As time passed, everyone learned that Yu Jinxiao was like a beautiful but poisonous flower, covered in thorns. Approach at your own risk.
The chaotic thoughts in the waitress’s mind made her fear overshadow any fleeting admiration. Her hands clenched nervously, palms slick with sweat.
“Why did it take so long?” Sure enough, Yu Jinxiao’s voice was as cold and impatient as ever.
Yuanyuan skipped happily toward him, twirling in a circle. “Because I was too dirty! Big sister had to wash me for a long time. Ta-da! Am I super clean now?”
“Why is there a red mark on your forehead?” Yu Jinxiao asked, his gaze narrowing.
The waitress’s heart, which had just settled down, shot back up to her throat, pounding wildly.
I’m doomed. Am I going to take the blame for this too!?
