Jiang Wu’s many worries were thrown out of her mind the moment she heard Mo Yangzhou’s voice. All that was left was the longing for not seeing him for so many days and the joy of finally meeting him.
Mo Yangzhou usually performed operas, but today, without the accompaniment of other instruments, he just sang a little song.
This kind of ditty was originally sung mostly by women, and even if it was sung by men, they were mostly young and weak-looking boys.
But Mo Yangzhou’s gentle yet masculine voice, when he sang the lingering and sad little song, also had a unique charm.
Jiang Wu listened and realized that he was singing a song about love.
This made her heart feel as if something was touching, with a hint of sweetness. She cursed herself in her heart and then stopped such emotions in time. How old was she, how could she still be like a young girl in first love?
Although Jiang Wu had decided to marry Mo Yangzhou as her husband [1]there is a difference in this kind of marriage, here the man lives with the woman, unlike a traditional marriage where the woman leaves her parental home to go to her in-law’s house after the divorce, she did not feel that there was much affection between them. It seemed that she would never meet another person who was so to her liking, who would put her first in everything, and who would tolerate her.
As for love, she had suffered a loss once, and she couldn’t stand it anymore at her age. Thinking of this, Jiang Wu’s restless heart gradually calmed down.
Qingyang Gōngzhǔ beside her had already stood up: “I’ll go sit outside.”
It is just to make room for them.
There were only two people left in the room. Jiang Wu didn’t say anything behind the inverted curtain. She listened to him until he finished singing before saying, “Come over here.”
She didn’t know if it was because she had been with Chu Ling for so long, but Jiang Wu always felt that she was a little like him sometimes. This feeling made her very disgusted, so when she saw Mo Yangzhou coming over after opening the curtain, her expression subconsciously softened.
“Madam.” Mo Yangzhou bowed to her politely.
Most of the time, they were so polite and sensible that Qingyang Gōngzhǔ didn’t even need to go out.
Jiang Wu waved her hand and motioned for him to sit down.
“Why are you here?”
“The Gōngzhǔ said that Madam was not feeling well a few days ago. Yang Zhou was worried about Madam, so he begged the Gōngzhǔ to let me see Madam.” Mo Yang Zhou’s eyes quickly passed over her face, and he seemed to be a little relieved. “Now that Madam is fine, Yang Zhou is relieved.”
Jiang Wu recalled that after she was confined to his house, the excuse she gave to others was that she was not feeling well.
Mo Yangzhou was such a sensible person, and he could come to her so actively again and again. Jiang Wu could already feel his concern for her.
“Oh, right,” Mo Yangzhou seemed to have thought of something and took out a jade pendant from his arms. “This is what Mingzhu asked me to bring to you, Madam. She was worried about your health and especially went to the temple to have it blessed, hoping that it would bring you good luck.”
Jiang Wu was stunned for a moment before taking it.
The jade, which was originally warm, carried the man’s body temperature, and it was really irresistible to touch it. Jiang Wu rubbed the pattern on the jade pendant with her slender fingers, and a smile appeared on her face unconsciously.
She had a weak relationship with her two children, and the imagined family happiness of a loving mother and filial children was only found in Mingzhu.
Jiang Wu’s wish was just that simple: a husband who respected and understood each other, and a child who cared for each other and was warm.
Maternal love was selfless, but no one could be selfless all the time. If she didn’t get a response from her children, she would be disappointed and tired.
“Mingzhu is such a thoughtful girl. Please remember to thank her for me.”
Jiang Wu said with a smile. When she looked up, she bumped into Mo Yangzhou staring at the side of her neck. She couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”
Mo Yangzhou stretched out his hand. Although it was a rash move, Jiang Wu seemed to have a natural trust in him. She did not dodge and did not even blink.
She watched the hand stop at her neck.
“Madam’s collar is crooked.” The man said this, then put his hand on her collar and straightened it.

Hi, A mom of two sons who is obsessed with Cnovels, Kdrama and cooking. And now my interest also includes making the MTL's of the novels I read more legible, use AI to generate image for my chapters and of course will love to hear from fellow booklovers. I unlock one chapter each from my two novels that have paid chapters. If I don't unlock one in a week, the consecutive week will have two.
I feel sorry for the FL but she is seriously a very foolish woman, not very bright.
You will be heartbroken when you know the reason why 😛
Did she lose her memory due to trauma and she is actually the white moonlight? Or that she is actually the true Chu Yan??? It seems like something must’ve happened to her which is why they don’t live with the family and her kids are careful around her. The FL is not a reliable narrator and everything is from her POV but bc of the good writing, can tell there is more than what the FL is actually saying.
I should put a spoiler alert on your comment 😉
Or was it the husband who caused an accident which resulted in why the FL is now like this and the husband is really guilt and regret so that is why he is letting the FL do what she wants and only have ppl spy on her?
Again Spoiler alert tag needed 😉
