Professor Qi, Let’s Fake a Marriage
Professor Qi, Let’s Fake a Marriage Chapter 20

Chapter 20: The Couple Adds Each Other’s Contact Information

“Thanks,” Qi Yanjing said as he accepted the coffee and the chocolate. It seemed like the next time he visited, he’d have to bring some wedding candies for everyone.

As he turned and left the café, the staff behind him started talking.

“I feel like I just imagined the drama of the year,” one of them said.

Lili nodded. “I kind of like the 188 cm tall guy better. He seems more approachable than President Gu, who always looks like he’s warning people to stay away.”

The young guy next to them, Yue Qi, interrupted their imagination. “Stop picking sides. Our boss is married to President Gu.”

“True, but President Gu is a big CEO, so I guess it makes sense.”

When Qi Yanjing got home, Wen Zhixian was just changing her shoes.

“Qi…” She caught herself before calling him ‘Mr. Qi’ and asked instead, “Why are you back?”

“I had nothing to do at lunch and thought we could eat together.”

Wen Zhixian looked up at him, a bit puzzled. “Then why didn’t you call me…”

Before she could finish, she paused in silence.

“Oh, right. I just remembered… we don’t even have each other’s contact info,” she said, laughing awkwardly.

What kind of situation was this?

Qi Yanjing took out his phone. “Your number?”

Wen Zhixian recited her phone number.

After saving it, Qi Yanjing called her. Her phone rang in her pocket, and she saved his number under the name “Yanjing.”

Qi Yanjing then tapped on his screen a few times, and Wen Zhixian received a friend request on WeChat. They added each other across all platforms.

“Shall we go out for lunch?” he asked.

Wen Zhixian agreed. “Let me change clothes first. Shall we head to your parents’ house early this afternoon?”

It wouldn’t be good to be late.

“Sure.” While she was changing, Qi Yanjing brought the gifts they had prepared down to the car.

About fifteen minutes later, she was ready and came out.

“Does this look okay?” she asked, standing in front of Qi Yanjing.

He nodded, “It looks fine.”

In fact, it didn’t matter what she wore. His parents wouldn’t judge her, as long as she made him happy. But it was clear that she really cared about making a good impression.

Once they got in the car, Qi Yanjing asked, “What would you like for lunch?”

“You decide. But let’s be quick—I’m a bit hungry.”

Qi Yanjing chose a nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. After they ordered, Wen Zhixian glanced to the side and was taken aback. She saw Song Kairui and sitting across from him, Gu Yuchen.

Song Kairui was momentarily stunned when their eyes met. He stared at them for a few seconds before Gu Yuchen’s cold voice asked, “What are you looking at?”

Song Kairui quickly blocked Gu Yuchen’s view and calmly poured him more wine. “Nothing. Just drink up.”

Gu Yuchen looked at him in confusion, as just a few minutes ago, Song had been telling him to drink less.

“Let’s just eat,” Song Kairui said, clearing his throat but sneaking another glance in Wen Zhixian’s direction, raising his brow slightly.

Wen Zhixian chuckled softly. Qi Yanjing had also immediately noticed Gu Yuchen—the same man who had argued with Wen Zhixian at the café the other night. He was sitting right across from Song Kairui.

“Is this okay?” Qi Yanjing asked.

She shook her head. “It’s fine. Let’s just eat.”

In fact, Qi Yanjing had seen Gu Yuchen at the entrance earlier but had chosen to act as though he hadn’t. They were married now, so why shouldn’t he openly accompany his wife?

Wen Zhixian briefly introduced them. “The man sitting opposite Gu Yuchen is Song Kairui, and there’s also Zhaoli, who’s not here. They’re both two years older than me, and they’re close friends of mine.”

“I’ll remember that,” Qi Yanjing replied.

Wen Zhixian thought for a moment. “I haven’t told them about our marriage yet. Let’s have dinner with them next time.”

“Sure, I’ll treat them,” Qi Yanjing offered.

Wen Zhixian laughed. “You treat, and I’ll pay.”

She always found her own eyes incredibly beautiful whenever she looked at herself. As she placed a piece of fish into her bowl, she said, “Let’s eat first.”

Song Kairui had completely lost interest in dining with Gu Yuchen, his thoughts drifting over to Wen Zhixian’s table. He guessed that the man with her was the Qi gentleman she had mentioned before.

Seeing that Qi Yanjing was serving Wen Zhixian food, he couldn’t help but think, wow, this is like a play unfolding. Why did it feel staged? It was all about Wen Zhixian’s attitude; if it were just some random guy serving her food, she definitely wouldn’t be smiling like that, so it had to be an act.

The actors were quite convincing, he thought to himself, stifling a chuckle. If Gu Yuchen saw this, he’d be furious.

Gu Yuchen, noticing Song Kairui’s sudden laughter, frowned slightly.

“Did you just say something?” Song Kairui coughed, trying to cover up his amusement.

“My parents called me yesterday to ask about things with Wen Zhixian,” Gu Yuchen sighed.

Song Kairui grew serious. “Yuchen, I’m not trying to rain on your parade, but if Uncle Wen and Aunt Shen know, then you and Zhixian have no chance at all.”

“I tried calling Uncle Wen, but he didn’t pick up. I think he went out last night and wasn’t home.”

Song Kairui clicked his tongue. “Honestly, you’re in a deadlock. If you put the same effort into Zhixian that you do in your work, we wouldn’t be in this situation.”

“She’s waiting for me; she won’t leave. I’ve thought about it clearly these past few days—what’s the point of being stubborn? I should apologize.” He looked at his glass of wine, swirling it gently.

Song Kairui, with a hint of sarcasm, replied, “Think about how you treated Li Zhaomu and then how you’ve treated Zhixian. Would you ever raise a hand against her just because she broke your things?”

Gu Yuchen’s voice turned cold. “Song Kairui, enough.”

“Okay.” He shrugged, deciding to drop it. After all, Gu Yuchen was the one who’d be hurting the most.

“Let’s not dwell on it since it’s already broken. It was just an inanimate object, and now that my last bit of sentiment is gone, my future belongs to Zhixian,” Gu Yuchen said, matter-of-factly.

Song Kairui couldn’t help but admire Gu Yuchen’s mentality; to him, a broken object was just that—dead.

After a few bites of his meal, Song Kairui sighed, “To be favored brings such fearlessness.”

But this time, Gu Yuchen might fall into an abyss.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Wen Zhixian and Qi Yanjing getting up to leave. He turned his head to look at them for a few seconds.

Gu Yuchen realized he had already turned to look multiple times. This time, he followed Song Kairui’s gaze, curious about what was so interesting.

Suddenly, he froze, feeling his blood run cold.

Song Kairui silently faced Gu Yuchen, knowing he was furious.

Gu Yuchen’s possessiveness was incredibly strong.

With a dark expression, he stood up and walked toward Wen Zhixian.

“Yuchen!” Song Kairui called after him, but he received no response.

Gu Yuchen pushed Qi Yanjing aside forcefully. The two of them were already planning to leave and hadn’t seen Gu Yuchen approaching from behind. With such force, Qi Yanjing was caught off guard and fell back into his chair.

Instantly, all eyes in the restaurant turned to them.

Wen Zhixian didn’t pay attention to Gu Yuchen and quickly helped Qi Yanjing up. “Are you okay?”

Seeing her touch an unfamiliar man, Gu Yuchen grabbed her wrist tightly, his voice icy and piercing. “Wen Zhixian, what are you doing? I asked you what you’re doing!”

“Let go,” Qi Yanjing said, his aura equally intimidating. He was about to throw a punch at Gu Yuchen when Song Kairui stepped in to stop him. “Don’t fight.”
