Chapter 36: Negotiation
The first thing Chen Jin did after waking up was to call her third cousin, Chen Yongfei, to ask about her aunt.
However, her cousin seemed to be in an inconvenient situation to answer the phone and whispered that he would call her back later before hanging up, which only made her frown even more.
Was there something that couldn’t be said right now? Could her aunt still be at her third uncle’s place?
With this on her mind, she kept checking her phone now and then to see if a call came through. She had planned to go out and buy some fruit but, for some reason, ended up bringing back a bag of snacks instead. At the entrance of the residential area, she ran into Shen Baichuan. He waved at her as he approached, and only then did she realize he was greeting her. She gave a perfunctory “Good morning, Teacher. Shen” before walking around him.
Behind her, Shen Baichuan, who had just finished his morning jog, let out a long sigh. He thought he wasn’t bad in terms of qualifications and didn’t act frivolous or improper, yet the neighbor next door seemed to dislike him.
Several times, he’d seen Chen Jin circling his car, her eyes lighting up as she looked at it, but whenever she saw him, she acted like she had seen a ghost, trying to stay as far away as possible.
Sometimes, he even wanted to confront her directly: “I’m not after your money or your looks. There’s really no need to treat me like a thief!”
It wasn’t like he had a screw loose, insisting on chasing someone who clearly avoided him. The thing is, he wasn’t even chasing her—he just thought Chen Jin was interesting and wanted to get to know her, maybe be friends…
But it seemed she neither liked people who had less money than her, nor those who had more. It was hard to even be friends with her.
If Chen Jin knew he just wanted to be friends, she’d probably curse him for being crazy—pretending to be a ghost just to make friends. She was so scared that she slept with the lights on last night.
Chen Jin stayed at home all morning, but still hadn’t received a callback from her cousin. Deciding not to wait any longer, she changed clothes, grabbed her car keys, and headed straight for Rose Garden.
When she got there, no one was home either, so she called her third uncle to ask if they were at the Zhang family’s house in Hanlin Garden. Finally, she got a confirmation and quickly asked for the exact floor before starting the car again.
Earlier, the call had been filled with her eldest uncle’s loud voice and several sharp female voices. Even on the other end of the line, she could clearly hear one woman saying, “If there’s a divorce and money to split, it’s from the second son’s share. The family’s money and house all belong to the parents. Even if Chen Kui divorces, she won’t get a thing!”
Even though she wasn’t there in person, hearing those words made her fume, the anger rising in her chest like a flame. She felt so frustrated she wanted to throw a few punches.
When she stepped out of the elevator, she immediately noticed that both doors on the floor were wide open. The voices of her three uncles and aunts were loud and clear from inside.
Hanlin Garden and Rose Garden both had two apartments per floor, and old man Zhang had bought four apartments back then, covering two floors. She wasn’t sure how they had divided them up, but somehow Zhang Leye and old man Zhang’s family ended up living on the same floor.
It was perfect—all the key players were here. They could settle everything in one go if they wanted.
Just then, her third cousin came out and spotted her stepping out of the elevator. He didn’t seem surprised at all and, with a grim expression, said, “You’d better not go in. They’re still arguing in there. Uncle and old man Zhang are negotiating.”
Her cousin sneered, “They say if anything’s to be divided, it’ll only be Zhang Leye’s savings. Even this apartment was bought by old man Zhang, and it was registered under Zhang Bai’s name. So even if Aunt gets divorced, she won’t get a share. Damn it! The Zhang family had been guarding against Aunt all along, registering the house under Zhang Bai’s name.”
Chen Jin was angry too, but she knew going in now wouldn’t help at all. She thought of an old acquaintance and hurriedly asked, “Have you consulted a lawyer?”
“We did, but if we go to court, we don’t have much of a case,” Chen Yongfei replied, frustrated, running his hands through his hair and exhaling heavily. Seeing that the elders were all inside, he spoke softly to her, “Honestly, I think Aunt should just go through with the divorce. Why put up with this kind of person? If she can’t get anything from his family, then so be it. In the future, Yong’an and I will definitely take care of her in her old age. Our family doesn’t need their lousy money.”
Chen Jin pressed her lips together, knowing that because they weren’t the ones in her aunt’s shoes, they could make such a decision so easily. Sure, even if her aunt could get some money from the Zhang family in a divorce, it would be nothing compared to what they got from the demolition payout. But, for her aunt, those past ten-plus years spent at the Zhang family’s house were her own struggle. While others could easily give up on that money, for her aunt, giving it up would mean all those years of being a maid for the Zhang family had been for nothing. How could she swallow that?
Right now, Chen Jin wished her aunt had a stronger temperament like Aunt Zhou or Aunt Kexin. Otherwise, the Zhang family wouldn’t dare be so brazen.
At that moment, the elevator dinged, and a man and a woman stepped out. Chen Jin carefully sized them up before realizing that they were Zhang Bai and Zhang Xue, who she equated with heartless ingrates.
In the first two years after her aunt married Zhang Leye, she even brought Zhang Bai and Zhang Xue back to Qiaodong Village to visit. At that time, the family’s brothers and sisters were still accommodating them. Though her aunt never treated them as her own children, she wasn’t bad to them. Yet, those two ingrates went around telling people her aunt secretly treated them poorly. If it hadn’t been for her third aunt overhearing this in Mutang Village, her aunt might never have known they were bad-mouthing her behind her back.
Looking at it now, it was clear Zhang Leye wasn’t a good person either—no wonder Zhang Bai and Zhang Xue turned out to be ingrates. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Now, these two were dressed like some wealthy young master and lady. When they saw Chen Jin and her cousin, they looked at them as if they were poor relatives coming to freeload.
Chen Jin was speechless. “Third Brother, do you think they’re both out of their minds?”
Where did they get the audacity to look down on others? The Zhang family had gotten 20 million from the demolition, but that was all controlled by old man Zhang. From what Chen Jin knew, old man Zhang favored his eldest son and spoiled his youngest. Zhang Leye, being somewhere in the middle, had little presence. Even though they bought him the same cars and houses, it was all superficial. She didn’t see any real wealth in Zhang Leye’s hands.
Chen Yongfei said, “Yeah, they’re both out of their minds. But they probably didn’t even recognize who we are.” Maybe they thought the two of them were just some relatives from the Zhang family here to ask for money?
Since the last time the Zhang family flaunted their wealth at Junhao Hotel, they hadn’t been short of relatives coming over to borrow money. The excuses they used were so ridiculous that anyone who heard them would be left speechless.
Some examples included Zhang’s deceased parents promising large sums of money in a dream, or someone having a baby boy and needing funds for his education, marriage, and even buying a house.
There’s a saying: “Those close to vermilion are red, those near ink are black.” The Zhang family was like a foul swamp, and the people it attracted were nothing more than flies and maggots.
Inside, the argument gradually quieted. Chen Jin tugged at her cousin’s sleeve and moved toward the door to get a better sense of the situation.
Zhang Senior and her eldest uncle had gone to the study for a private conversation, while everyone else remained in the living room. Surprisingly, it wasn’t her aunt and Zhang Leye causing the biggest commotion, but rather Zhang Leye’s two sisters-in-law. His two brothers, meanwhile, glared at them with clear hostility.
It was almost laughable; these two brothers hadn’t been this guarded against Zhang Leye before.
Zhang Bai and Zhang Xue sat beside their father, Zhang Leye. By now, they had figured out that the two people outside the door earlier were relatives from the Chen family. They wanted to criticize Chen Kui as they had in the past, but with all the elders in the room, including members of the Chen family, they dared not act rashly.
In their minds, they were calculating what Grandpa Zhang and Uncle were discussing in the study. Would he agree to compensate Chen Kui? Would the compensation come from their side of the family, allowing their eldest uncle’s and youngest uncle’s siblings to gain more resources from Grandpa in the future?
Despite the chaos, Chen Kui felt surprisingly calm.
She had initially been unwilling to give up so easily, feeling it was unfair. But after yesterday, she had come to a new understanding of how rotten the Zhang family was from the inside. They might seem prosperous now, but sooner or later, they’d fall back into the mud. So, after voicing her demands, she was just waiting for her eldest brother to negotiate on her behalf.
She was confident she would get something out of this, and for the first time, she felt a sense of liberation, as though she was about to escape from the mire. As she looked at Zhang Bai and Zhang Xue’s gloomy faces and her two sisters-in-law with their curled lips, she thought the real drama within the Zhang family was only just beginning.
These people might now be working together to push her out and deny her even the smallest share, but one day, they would stab each other in the back.
She was waiting to see what would happen once she divorced Zhang Leye. Would he marry his old classmate? Even if not, Chen Kui was certain there would be other women. When that time came, what would it matter if Zhang Bai and Zhang Xue were his children? Wouldn’t they be thrown out of their own house when Zhang Leye and his new wife moved in?
Chen Kui looked over with a half-smile, and Zhang Xue could barely contain her anger, wanting to burst out in a shouting match, but the situation didn’t allow for her to speak.
Was Chen Kui mocking their family now?
Zhang Leye, as usual, remained silent, letting others speak for him, as though he were the one suffering some great injustice.
Chen Jin found even looking at him nauseating. She turned her head away and cursed to her cousin, “I can’t stand the way he acts like a helpless victim. He’s grown, yet he still plays this act—it’s enough to make me want to puke up the buns I had this morning.”
“He’s always the innocent one, the honest guy, like someone forced him to cheat. Cousin, isn’t that disgusting?”
The living room, which had been relatively quiet with no one wanting to speak, suddenly had its silence broken by Chen Jin’s words, causing the Zhang family’s faces to stiffen.
No wonder they used to fight together; her third cousin immediately played along, pretending to gag, “You think that’s disgusting? It reminds me of something I saw yesterday. Have you ever seen a turtle and a tortoise kiss?”
“…I haven’t read much, so I haven’t seen that.” Chen Jin couldn’t imagine the scene, and she could no longer look at Zhang Leye directly, letting out a long, disgusted “ugh” sound. “Stop talking, that’s so gross. How could anyone talk that?”
Third Uncle coughed loudly and said, “Let’s talk less about filthy matters. Just pretend you didn’t see anything, since others can do things they weren’t properly taught.”
Boss Zhang’s face turned pale as he shot Zhang Leye a glare, silently cursing him for causing trouble. But after all, this was the Zhang family, and he couldn’t let the younger generation of the Chen family run wild here. “This is a Zhang family matter, and it’s not for you Chen family members to interfere.”
Chen Jin glanced at him calmly. “Who said anything about your Zhang family? No one cares to talk about anyone named Zhang.”
Did they call out the Zhang family by name? She and her third cousin were just casually chatting.
But after all, this was still a negotiation, and Chen Jin wasn’t here to cause a scene or burn bridges. Venting anger was never better than gaining real benefits. Once her aunt got the compensation, they could deal with the Zhang family when the time came!
“A gentleman’s revenge is never too late, even if it takes ten years.”
After waiting another ten minutes or so, there was finally some movement at the study door. Both Uncle and Old Man Zhang seemed satisfied. The Zhang family members stood up nervously, awaiting the outcome.
But Uncle had no interest in watching how the Zhang family would handle their internal matters. He turned to Chen Kui and said, “Sister, pack your things and move out today. Tomorrow, go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and get the divorce certificate.”
Although Uncle didn’t mention the outcome, Aunt didn’t press for answers. She exchanged a glance with Third Aunt, and they went inside together to pack her clothes. Zhang Xue anxiously looked at her silent grandfather, then at the two who entered the master bedroom, before biting her lip and following them inside.
When Aunt came out carrying a large suitcase, Uncle looked at Old Man Zhang meaningfully and said, “I hope you’ll keep your word. Tomorrow at 10 a.m., be sure to show up at the Civil Affairs Bureau in South District. We expect to get our fair share in the divorce settlement.”
Old Man Zhang smiled, “I certainly will.”
But as soon as the Chen family took the elevator down, Old Man Zhang swung his cane at Zhang Leye, striking him. The others were too scared to speak, while Zhang Leye cowered with his head down.
“Bring the household register and marriage certificate tomorrow. I’ll go too. You and Chen Kui will get divorced, and once it’s done, it’s over. But if you dare to marry another woman on your own in the future, not a cent of my money will go to a second wife.”
Mentioning a second wife, Old Man Zhang deliberately glanced at Zhang Bai, then continued, “I won’t speak about the little schemes you have in private, but if anyone dares to think of me as a fool, hmph, I’d rather throw all my money away than give it to any of you. Let me say it one last time: the family’s money won’t be divided, at least not until your mother and I pass away. Whoever listens and shows capability will be favored.”
“And one more thing: if any of you dare stir up another divorce scandal, handle it yourselves. Calculate how much property you and your spouses own, and don’t even think about touching my money.”
The remaining two daughters-in-law were dissatisfied. While they wouldn’t divorce, why did Old Man Zhang have to step in for Chen Kui’s divorce, but when it came to them, they were left to fend for themselves? It was clear favoritism!
Old Man Zhang had more to say, but seeing the reluctant and resentful expressions on his eldest and youngest sons, he couldn’t be bothered to continue.
None of the younger generation understood the bigger picture; all they cared about was getting their share of the two million yuan. How long would that last them?
Old Man Zhang hadn’t realized it earlier, thinking two million was a lot. They had bought good houses, nice cars, and lived lavishly. But after a period of living like newly rich, he checked his bank balance and saw that less than a million remained. A little bit here, a little bit there, he had given over three hundred thousand to his children and grandchildren to spend. And these children had been spending lavishly without a single thought of investing the money to make more.
He had heard from others that the village chief in Qiaodong Village was organizing an investment group to make money together, and that’s when the sense of crisis hit: at the rate they were spending without bringing in more, the family fortune would be gone in no time.
He didn’t know much about business or where to invest, but he knew that Chen Wenqiang was good at business. Before, he hadn’t been able to get a foot in the door to invest with him. He was already working hard to maintain good relations, but now his second son had to stir up trouble by divorcing Chen Kui, cutting off any chance of future business with the Chen family. How could they negotiate a deal now?
At least now, money had paved the way.
He had once thought Zhang Bai was smart and did well in school, but now… forget it. Chen Wenqiang had explicitly said he would never do business with the second family.
Zhang Bai and Zhang Xue had been taught to only stay close to their maternal grandfather’s family. Whatever was given to them would eventually end up in someone else’s hands.
As soon as the elevator doors closed, Third Uncle couldn’t wait to ask, “Brother, how did the final negotiation go?”
“One million. That’s the best I could get. I also promised to introduce him to Chen Wensong. Chen Wensong currently doesn’t have enough funds to build his building, and Old Man Zhang has money. A partnership would benefit both of them.”
Chen Jin, however, didn’t think Uncle’s “benefit” was truly good.
“Getting one million is about right. With this money, you can buy yourself a property. Plus, you already have the house in Qiaoxi Village, and the ten thousand you invested with me. That’s enough for you to live on.”
Chen Kui was quite satisfied. She had expected to get around fifty thousand. She knew the money was with Old Man Zhang, and that Zhang Leye didn’t really have any say. If it went to court, she wouldn’t get much either. But now, she had a million, and the first thing she would do was repay the money she had borrowed from her third brother and sister-in-law.
Whether it’s the buildings constructed in Qiaoxi Village or the hundred thousand yuan given to her by her elder brother, it all comes from the money provided by her third brother and sister-in-law.
“It’s already very good, thank you, elder brother. I don’t want to trouble you for my own matters…”
“Ah, enough, enough. There’s no need for all this thank you and that,” the uncle waved his hand dismissively. “It’s not a big deal; Chen Wensong borrowed money from me, but I didn’t have any to lend him. Now with Old man Zhang, his piece of land can be developed.”
Seeing Chen Jin’s puzzled expression, he casually explained further, “It’s not just about getting the land and starting construction. You have to navigate various connections. Some things can be quite complicated; they still need to ask me for help to avoid unnecessary detours.”
It sounded very profound, and Chen Jin sincerely praised him, “It really is impressive, Uncle!”
Originally, everyone felt a bit gloomy, but hearing Chen Jin’s serious praise made them inexplicably amused. In fact, they couldn’t help but laugh.
With this matter settled, they indeed had something to smile about. The Zhang family wasn’t a good place to stay, and it was a good thing for Chen Kui to break away early.
Such good news should be celebrated, but in the past few days, because of Chen Kui’s situation, the uncle and aunt, as well as the second uncle and aunt, had delayed their work, and the two stores in beautiful Community had also temporarily closed. Now that the issue was resolved, they had to get back to work.
Only the third cousin, Chen Yongfei, was still a bit unhappy. Chen Jin saw this and, having no other plans, spontaneously suggested they go hiking in the National Forest Park in Rong City that afternoon.
During her freshman year, the class had organized an outing to the National Forest Park. At that time, there were hardly any facilities, but now they had opened a walking path that went from the foot of the mountain to the peak. The ticket price had also doubled.
After climbing halfway up the mountain, Chen Jin’s face turned pale, and she kept waving her hand, “I can’t go on; I shouldn’t have come out this time.” If she had to walk on flat ground, she could go from dawn till dusk, but now she realized she really couldn’t handle mountain climbing.
When she came here during her freshman year, she had nearly climbed to the top in one breath without stopping. Perhaps it was due to aging; she couldn’t climb anymore!
Her third cousin stood on the steps ahead, hands on his hips, looking at her and teasing, “You can’t climb, yet you still called me out to hike. Last time in Beijing, you said you wanted to climb the Great Wall. You really are all talk; it’s a good thing we didn’t go then.”
“Stop resting and get up; we came all this way, so we have to reach the top today. Come on, let’s go!”
If time could turn back, Chen Jin would rather have called her third cousin to go karaoke instead. Oh no, she shouldn’t have thought about cheering him up by inviting him out to play; she should have just taken a car back to the little villa, watched TV, and eaten fried chicken while sipping on ice-cold cola.
She didn’t know if her third cousin felt any better; she only knew that she was really in a bad mood. She just wanted to roll down the mountain right then.
However, when she finally reached the top while grumbling, she coincidentally caught the sunset. Looking up, the sky was ablaze with color, and looking down, half of Rong City lay beneath her. Unlike the view from the 21st floor of Hanlin Garden, where concrete and steel restrained her, here there was the freedom of the wind from all directions, creating an illusion of standing at the top of the world.
She felt that the effort had been worthwhile!
The last time she came, she hadn’t realized how beautiful the view from the mountaintop was.
That night, Chen Jin slept particularly well, completely forgetting to turn on the light to sleep.
When she woke up the next morning, it was already past eleven. She called her third cousin and learned that he and the uncle were accompanying her aunt at the civil affairs bureau to complete the paperwork. Everything was going smoothly, and he told her not to worry about anything and to prepare well for their trip.
“Are you okay? Your legs aren’t hurting, right?”
When Shen Baichuan returned from class, he saw Chen Jin struggling down the steps outside the community, dragging a large bag of things. She looked like she was descending a mountain of knives, and her expression was a bit grim.
He wondered if she had fallen or been hit.
Chen Jin smiled awkwardly, “I’m fine; it’s just how I feel after climbing a mountain.”
Shen Baichuan said, “Let me help you with that.”
“Oh, no, no, I can manage,” Chen Jin repeatedly declined, even forgetting that her legs were sore and stiff, taking as big steps as she could.
She felt a bit embarrassed; last night, she had scolded Shen Baichuan at home, but now he was being kind enough to offer her help, and she felt too guilty to trouble him, so she decided against it.
Shen Baichuan watched her regain her strength and fell into silence.
Chen Jin had almost finished preparing her things and went over to mention to Professor Song that she would be away for a while.
Professor Song was quite interested, wondering whether he should travel with Dean Xi for a while. They could go far away to explore, but they could also choose somewhere nearby; the neighboring city wasn’t bad either. Or they could stay for a while in a small fishing village, enjoying the sea.
“That high school classmate of yours and her partner have already bought a house in the staff quarters across the street and moved over. They came over to pay a visit the day before yesterday,” Professor Song continued when he saw she had no objection. “They came to see me, probably thinking I could recommend them a good mentor. Unfortunately, they found the wrong person; I’m already retired. They would be better off looking for a teacher at the academy.”
Chen Jin raised her eyebrows. “I thought they were going to buy a small villa.” Just thinking about living in the same community as them was really annoying. Hey, this is great; at least we won’t be neighbors now.
“A small villa isn’t that easy to buy. There have been a couple of married couples coming to inquire about it, but the people here aren’t selling, so there’s nothing they can do. They probably stopped coming and chose to buy a house in the employee housing area instead. You and Baichuan really caught a break. Professor Shen had those two units up for sale without spreading the news much. Several groups came to see the houses, but they initially thought the prices were too high, so nothing was finalized. Now look at them; they want to offer more, but they can’t even buy them.”
Chen Jin wasn’t very familiar with the sales situation of the small villas here, so she didn’t feel much about it. The most she interacted with were Professor Song and Dean Xi. She hadn’t specifically visited other families, as it felt too abrupt, but she would greet them whenever she saw them in the community.
Recently, she had seen Shen Baichuan from next door the most. It’s hard to say, but once she started going to work in the morning, she would probably see him even more.
Chen Jin was considering whether to buy herself a bicycle. It would be just right to ride it to work every day. If she drove the car from home to school, it would seem a bit ostentatious. With her cousin Chen Ting as an example, she decided to remain low-key after starting work to avoid being seen as a target for others looking to pursue her.
Speaking of Chen Ting, she hadn’t seen her in a while. At the village chief’s birthday celebration, she didn’t have a chance to ask her second cousin about her situation. She was also curious about how Chen Ting would choose between men and money.
“Xiao Jin, come home for lunch today; Baichuan will be over later.”
The “okay” that was on the tip of Chen Jin’s tongue was swallowed back. After thinking for a moment, she decided it would be a bit awkward to have lunch with Teacher Shen next door, so she said, “I have plans to hang out with friends, so I won’t come for lunch.”
“Well, have fun with your friends.”
After saying that, Chen Jin took her leave and headed home. She wasn’t lying; she did have plans to watch a movie with Lin Xinran in the afternoon, just not at the same time.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen you this semester; it’s so hard to catch you!” Lin Xinran said weakly, “Look at my eyes; they’re almost turning into panda eyes! It’s all from staying up late to write my graduation thesis. I thought choosing Professor Song as my advisor would be the best since she seemed the easiest to talk to, but! I’m almost going crazy from all the revisions!”
Although Chen Jin wasn’t going crazy, she completely understood Lin Xinran’s frustration. Writing a thesis was really daunting; she had been working on her version for about six months and had made countless revisions, with piles of reference books. It felt like walking a dark road where there was always another stretch ahead.
Despite Lin Xinran feeling that writing the thesis was torturous, she was still filled with anticipation for her future graduate student life.
“I’ve talked to my parents; I’ll be moving into the house near the school. It’ll be great not having to squeeze into a dorm with others!”
“Last week, I went to the department to find Professor Song and ran into Yang Qian and Chen Lu. Professor Jiang seemed really angry.”
Chen Jin sighed, knowing it was probably about the thesis as well.
Professor Jiang had asked her to convey a message, but she hadn’t seen him yet, so there was no way to do that. He probably asked the counselor to find someone for him.
“Do you know about Yang Qian’s boyfriend…?”
Chen Jin blinked. “He can’t be…”
Yang Qian’s boyfriend was also from their class, named Zhuo Ran, who was widely recognized as the most talented student in the Chinese department. It was said that Zhuo Ran’s family and Yang Qian’s family had longstanding ties.
Her impression of Zhuo Ran was that whenever there was an essay competition, if he was participating, she would never have a chance at the top prize.
That was somewhat frustrating.
“He’s going abroad for further studies.”
“Oh, he’s going abroad for studies,” Lin Xinran said, gasping for breath, making her think Zhuo Ran was playing both sides like Li Xingyi.
“He’s going abroad, and Yang Qian is staying at school for her master’s. What’s the difference from breaking up?”
Chen Jin shrugged. “He’s just going abroad; it’s not like he won’t come back.”
Many students wanted to go abroad to experience it; they always longed for what they hadn’t seen. But it was said that Yang Qian had traveled abroad for fun and possibly thought it was just so-so, which is why she chose to stay in the country.
“Hey, that person up ahead is acting all sneaky, like she’s afraid of running into us. I saw her on the first floor just now, and when she spotted me, she pulled her friend away. I thought I didn’t know her.”
“Maybe you recognized her wrong…” When Chen Jin turned her head, she saw Chen Ting, who was trying to pull her friend away.
Oh, she hadn’t recognized her wrong; she wasn’t avoiding Lin Xinran but was trying to avoid her.
Upon closer inspection, besides a girl with Chen Ting, there were also two guys. She had a hunch that the senior Chen Ting mentioned was among them.
Hey! She had just been thinking about how she hadn’t seen her dear cousin in a long time, and it hadn’t been long before she ran into her.
Chen Jin rubbed her hands together, pulling Lin Xinran towards Chen Ting. “Let’s go; I spotted my cousin. Let’s get her to treat us to a meal.”
