Little Yuanyuan’s emotions were like a roller coaster, nearly getting fooled by her father. But hearing that he was indeed going, she happily hummed a song as she made her way downstairs, her little legs swinging joyfully as she ate breakfast.
Her chubby, adorable legs dangled in the air, swaying back and forth, almost begging to be pinched.
After breakfast, Gao Zhou’s car pulled up outside, with the trunk packed full of picnic supplies—tents, folding tables and chairs, tablecloths, food, drinks, and toys.
Each of the three kids brought along their favorite items:
On the way to the picnic spot, Yuanyuan and Yu Yingze couldn’t help but worry that their father might leave. Each time he picked up his phone, two pairs of eyes would immediately turn to him, staring intently until he put it away.
Even when they couldn’t see him, Yu Jinxiao could feel their silent protests. With a slight smile, he tucked his phone away for good, determined not to scare the two anxious little hearts any longer.
Gao Zhou had scouted the perfect location the night before, choosing a park known for being a top picnic spot. Though it wasn’t anything fancy, the park was renowned for its pristine environment and safety. Gao Zhou shuddered at the thought of choosing a more remote mountain or lakeside location, recalling the time Yuanyuan had gotten lost. He simply couldn’t bear the stress of that happening again.
The weather was perfect: sunny with a gentle breeze, and the temperature was just right—sitting under the trees was neither too hot nor too cold.
Gao Zhou carried the supplies to the spot he had reserved, where two men in black suits were already sitting. They greeted him promptly and then respectfully bowed to Yu Jinxiao.
“All set, you can leave now,” Gao Zhou dismissed them before getting to work setting up the tent, arranging the folding chairs and table.
As it turned out, Gao Zhou’s choice was spot on. While he and Yu Mingxi busied themselves setting up, Yuanyuan was already running laps around the area with her tiny footsteps pattering away.
Fortunately, Yu Jinxiao, arms crossed and staying out of the setup, kept his eyes on her the entire time. If not, this little one would surely be off and lost in no time.
The picnic spot was ideal—under a tree, far from the road, with a large grassy area and flowerbeds nearby, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the view.
Gao Zhou had his team secure the spot early in the morning. With the tent pitched and chairs arranged, he began plating some pre-cut fruit for everyone. Not long after, Yu Jinxiao noticed that an extra lounge chair and rug had been added to the setup.
Then, to his surprise, Gao Zhou rolled out a small fridge and a portable power bank.
Yu Jin Xiao: “…” It’s you indeed!
The happiest among them had to be Yu Yingze. Not only could he picnic with his dad, but there was even a power supply to keep his gaming console running.
“Mr. Yu, your laptop is in the car,” Gao Zhou said with a smile.
“Bring it over,” Yu Jinxiao replied.
It was as if Gao Zhou had created the perfect outdoor office, with everything arranged so seamlessly that Yu Jinxiao could stay for days. He could work and spend time with the kids at the same time—it was perfect.
“Dad, how about we play some soccer?” Yu Yingze put down his console and pulled out a soccer ball from his backpack.
Yu Jinxiao: “…” Great.
No wonder his son’s backpack had seemed unusually large—it was packed with a soccer ball, just waiting for this moment!
Since it was such a rare occasion to be spending time with his son, Yu Jinxiao couldn’t bring himself to refuse and reluctantly agreed to play.
But of course, Yuanyuan wanted to join the fun too. However, it wasn’t clear who was kicking the ball—Yuanyuan or the ball kicking Yuanyuan.
With all her might, she lifted her foot to kick… only to wobble and fall flat on the ground, while the ball remained perfectly still.
