Today is my birthday, but Xi Chenyi was called to a meeting at Alliance Headquarters early in the morning.

The borders have been unstable recently, and the insect race is stirring, with war possibly breaking out at any moment.

I was at home, unwrapping the roomful of gifts Xi Chenyi had bought for me, feeling quite entertained.

When I got hungry, I took some blood from the freezer that Xi Chenyi had stored for me and had a few sips.

Ever since the duck blood incident, Xi Chenyi would freeze some blood for me before he went out, so I wouldn’t starve.

As I continued unwrapping gifts, I started to feel something was wrong.

Suddenly, my body weakened, a wave of heat surged through me, and my body temperature rose rapidly.

It felt like there were countless bugs crawling through my bones, making even breathing difficult.

Something wasn’t right—something was very wrong.

I tried to stand but had no strength left at all.

I barely managed to crawl to the wardrobe in the bedroom, already drenched in sweat.

My glands began secreting an overwhelming amount of pheromones, instantly filling the entire building.

All the signs pointed to one conclusion: my heat had arrived.

I felt terrible, and I desperately missed Xi Chenyi.

My vision blurred, my consciousness fading, but my body instinctively gathered all of Xi Chenyi’s clothes around me, even biting down on one piece.

The room was filled with his unique metallic scent of pheromones, as if I was being held in his arms.

I don’t know how much time passed, but eventually, the wardrobe door opened, and I was embraced by a warm pair of arms.

“Baby.”

Xi Chenyi kissed my ear and released Alpha pheromones to calm me down.

He gently laid me on the bed, his broad Alpha body covering mine.

“Baby, you smell so good, like milk.”

His sharp Alpha teeth grazed the back of my neck, not biting hard, just lightly holding me.

It felt like being a prey that was caught by the apex predator of the food chain, who was deliberately withholding the final blow, slowly crushing all hope.

As my glands secreted fluid, it was quickly licked away. I could even hear the sound of him swallowing right next to my ear.

I sobbed and spoke in a broken voice, “Bite… bite me now.”

The predator finally showed mercy, sinking his fangs deeply into me.

Alpha pheromones flooded my body like a deluge, filling me completely.

Xi Chenyi lifted his head, his voice low and hoarse as he delivered his final ultimatum:

“Baby, once you get through this heat, you’ll need to be marked for life.”

That whole week, I didn’t leave the bed. Xi Chenyi took care of everything, from eating to bathroom breaks.

In my mind, the image of Xi Chenyi I had built up completely collapsed.

He acted like a dog who had never had meat before.

As he massaged my almost-broken waist, he pleaded in a pitiful tone:

“Baby, I was wrong, please forgive me, I won’t do this again.”

I rolled my eyes weakly, my voice hoarse, “You still want there to be a next time?”

His hand, which was rubbing my waist, mischievously began moving upward, and I immediately slapped it away.

Caught in the act, Xi Chenyi laughed sheepishly, “Sorry, baby, I can’t control myself when you’re next to me.”

I got up and kicked him out of the bedroom, “You’re sleeping in the study tonight, and don’t come in.”

I helped him straighten his combat uniform and stood on my toes to kiss his lips.

Just before boarding the warship, Xi Chenyi said, “Wait for me to come home.”

Each victory of the Federation eased some of the fear in my heart.

Xi Chenyi would also regularly send me messages through his light brain to let me know he was safe.

“Baby, I miss you so much, do you miss me?”

“Don’t worry, the war is going well.”

“Tomorrow morning is the final battle. Once it’s over, I’ll come home. I want to eat the braised pork ribs you make.”

Before dawn the next day, I went out and bought lots of ingredients, hoping that Xi Chenyi could eat them as soon as he returned.

This war must have made him lose weight, so I needed to make more food to nourish him.

But just as I was happily chopping vegetables, I suddenly received a message on my light brain.

It was an emergency notice from the Federation: “Xi Chenyi is critically injured.”

The knife in my hand dropped to the ground, and I collapsed where I stood, repeatedly checking the message to confirm it was official.

I couldn’t believe it. Xi Chenyi had clearly said the war was ending. How could he be seriously injured all of a sudden?

It had to be fake; someone must have hacked into the Federation’s system!

I kept telling myself not to be deceived, but tears blurred my vision.

By the time reinforcements from the Federation arrived, the ground was already covered in a mountain of corpses, and rivers of blood flowed like streams.

They found Xi Chenyi among the thousands of bodies.

But… he was beyond saving.
