Chapter 63 Getting the Certificate

Sitting on the back seat, Lin Xiangnan wrapped her arms around Gu Zhenhua’s waist and asked, “How many days of leave do you have this time?”

“Ten days in total. It takes a day to travel there and back, so I can only stay at home for eight days.” Gu Zhenhua tentatively asked, “I want to go get the marriage license tomorrow. What do you think?”

“I agree. We can just ask for leave at the restaurant before going to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning.” Lin Xiangnan said happily, “Then I can take a three-day honeymoon.”

The marriage application had been submitted, and the political review had been passed. Lin Xiangnan wasn’t being coy about this at all.

She poked Gu Zhenhua’s waist, “I bought you a men’s watch. Go back and try it on to see if it fits.”

Gu Zhenhua had given her a women’s wristwatch, and Lin Xiangnan wanted to give him a matching gift in return.

“Okay. I’ll wear it when I get back.”

Gu Zhenhua had rarely received gifts from his family growing up. Before even putting on the watch, his heart warmed, and he assured her in a low voice, “Don’t worry, I won’t let you suffer after you marry me.”

“Yeah. I believe you.” Lin Xiangnan smiled sweetly.

Because she couldn’t suffer at all.

If Gu Zhenhua really made her suffer, Lin Xiangnan was absolutely confident in her running speed. As long as she ran fast enough, no hardship could catch her.

Having received Lin Xiangnan’s affirmative answer, Gu Zhenhua didn’t make any more promises. He just silently warned himself in his heart: Don’t betray her sincerity.

The bicycle soon arrived at their doorstep. As soon as Lin Xiangnan got off, Hu Meili pulled her aside and whispered, “Shameless. How could you come back with your arms around his waist?”

“We’re getting our marriage license tomorrow.”

“Even as a husband and wife, you can’t do that. I know you young people are passionate, but you can hold each other in your own room. Don’t embarrass me in public.” Hu Meili’s words were both exciting and restrained.

Who said the older generation didn’t know how to have fun? They just didn’t play in public.

Lin Xiangnan rolled her eyes and explained, “It was secretly. No one saw us.”

Hu Meili poked Lin Xiangnan’s arm hard, her eyes warning.

“Okay, okay, I’ll be careful next time.”

After reprimanding Lin Xiangnan, Hu Meili turned to Gu Zhenhua with a smile and asked, “Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something? I’ll cook you some noodles.”

“He just said he wasn’t hungry.” Lin Xiangnan helped answer.

“Okay, then you two can talk for a while. I won’t bother you.” Hu Meili wisely slipped away.

Last time Gu Zhenhua was on leave, he stayed at the Gu family and didn’t bring anything back. This time he brought his savings book directly. He had been in the army for eight years and had saved a total of two thousand yuan, which he handed over to Lin Xiangnan.

“The army provides food and lodging, so I don’t spend much. You take this money and spend it.” They were about to get married, so Gu Zhenhua felt it was time to turn over his assets.

Lin Xiangnan had a lot of savings and didn’t need this two thousand yuan, but she still took the savings book and then took out the watch she had bought for Gu Zhenhua and put it on him.

Gu Zhenhua was generous to her, willing to give her all the “three turns and one ring.” Naturally, Lin Xiangnan wasn’t stingy either. The watch she chose for him was the most expensive men’s watch in the department store.

“It’s beautiful, but… it’s too expensive.” Although Gu Zhenhua was touched, he looked at Lin Xiangnan seriously and advised, “You can’t be too good to men, or to children, otherwise you’ll spoil them.”

He had been traumatized by his own mother, Gu Chouni.

Lin Xiangnan twitched her lips, “Don’t worry, I’ll be better to myself.”

Gu Zhenhua was relieved, “That’s good.”

In their family, Gu Fugen and Gu Zhenguo, father and son, who were spoiled by Gu Chouni, were both good-for-nothings. The other children, who were raised more freely, were all capable in their own way.

Gu Zhenhua wasn’t afraid of Lin Xiangnan enjoying herself. He could give her his monthly salary to spend. He was afraid that Lin Xiangnan would be like Gu Chouni, taking care of everything at home and outside, then their family would be truly finished.

He would never allow that to happen!

“I’ve read all the letters you wrote to me before. In a couple of days, when I have some time, I’ll go talk to my brother and help you get revenge.”

Lin Xiangnan laughed, “I’ll go with you then.”

Gu Zhenhua could only stay at home for eight days, and he still had to deal with the wedding arrangements, so he wasn’t idle.

Early the next morning, they rode their bicycles to get their marriage license and then went to the restaurant to book six tables for a wedding banquet on Sunday afternoon.

It wasn’t convenient to make phone calls now, so they had to personally notify some relatives and friends.

Hu Meili was taking care of things on the Hu family side, so Lin Xiangnan only invited one of her old classmates from the Housing Management Office, Du Ai’hong, and then left everything else to her.

The banquet was booked at the West District Restaurant. Zhang Dapang and the others didn’t need Lin Xiangnan to tell them.

Zhang Dapang even took the initiative to say, “Even if you book a 15 yuan per table menu, it’s a bit cheap. Why don’t you give me a few elbows, and I’ll show you my skills.”

The restaurant had three banquet menus: 7 yuan, 10 yuan, and 15 yuan. But conditions were limited now, and even the 15 yuan per table menu was just home-cooked dishes, nothing fancy.

Lin Xiangnan waved her hand, “The 15 yuan per table menu is good enough.”

If it wasn’t for Gu Zhenhua’s suggestion, Lin Xiangnan wouldn’t even want to hold a banquet, it was too much trouble.

She thought that after getting the license, they could be legally affectionate. But she was busy all day, and she didn’t know what she was busy with.

Finally, they could be alone at night.

Lin Xiangnan was still hesitating whether to touch his abs when Gu Zhenhua directly picked her up and put her on his lap, pulling her into his arms.

Sure enough, she was soft and fragrant, comfortable to hold.

“Ah, be gentle.”

Lin Xiangnan felt her waist being tightly held, like a prey caught by a wild beast, she couldn’t break free at all. And his hand was too hot, so hot that she unconsciously felt dizzy and wanted to get closer to the bigger heat source.

Feeling the hot breath on her neck, Gu Zhenhua’s arm around Lin Xiangnan tightened.

He touched the face of the person in his arms and lightly pecked her lips, “Be good, keep your voice down later.”

The hand that was setting fire all over her was too arrogant. Lin Xiangnan glared at him with a grievance, obediently letting him toss and turn for most of the night.

They had too much fun at night, and the next morning Lin Xiangnan couldn’t get out of bed.

Gu Zhenhua was already getting dressed, but she was still wrapped in her blanket, lazily yawning.

“I’m going to exercise. You sleep a little longer?”

Gu Zhenhua spoke while buttoning his shirt, and Lin Xiangnan’s eyes followed his fingers, wandering from his abs to his Adam’s apple. Her eyes were full of meaning. When she saw the scratch on his chest, she couldn’t help but smile.

Gu Zhenhua raised his eyebrows when he saw this, and he unbuttoned his shirt one by one, bending down to pick her up.

“No, no, no.” Lin Xiangnan quickly lifted the blanket, looking serious, “I’m going to get up and have breakfast.”
