Release the Female Lead Ch. 492

Chapter 492: A Married Woman

Perhaps it was the nostalgia from the old Swordsman II1 movie, or maybe it was something else entirely, but when “Gu Qingcheng” donned the red robes, she once again transformed into Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng.

She glanced at her reflection in the bronze mirror, then placed the mask back on.

As “Gu Qingcheng” emerged from behind the partition, Madam Yu’s expression turned somewhat peculiar.

“You don’t need the mask when we’re in the room, Demon Lord.”

Madam Yu approached, and carefully removed the mask from “Gu Qingcheng’s” face.

The earlier amusement in her expression shifted into one of awe. Red suited “Gu Qingcheng”, as it made her appear even more dazzling.

“Gu Qingcheng” felt a little awkward, and then she heard Madam Yu say, “Demon Lord, you’re truly beautiful. You even captivate a married woman like me.”

It sounded like flattery, but there was an undercurrent of sincerity in Madam Yu’s praise.

“Gu Qingcheng” gave a slight nod, quietly putting the mask back on.

For some reason, after hearing those words, she actually felt a touch of shyness stir within her.

It felt like an eternity since “Gu Qingcheng” last experienced that particular emotion.

As “Gu Qingcheng” reflected on how much had changed, Madam Yu started to change her clothes.

Without any regard for “Gu Qingcheng’s” presence, Madam Yu confidently removed her garments. The dark green outfit she revealed seemed to be a color she favored.

A poetic line floated through “Gu Qingcheng’s” mind: “Do you know? Do you know? The green is still plump, and the red still lean?2

However, Madam Yu was far too slender, and her fair skin accentuated her beautiful collarbones. Her figure was perfectly proportioned, devoid of any excess fat.

With her delicate waist, endearing nature, and motherly aura, she was the embodiment of a beautiful wife, which stirred a certain desire within “Gu Qingcheng”.

She watched Madam Yu change clothes so naturally, each of her movement felt almost like a performance, but it was far from deliberate.

Madam Yu simply moved so beautifully, that “Gu Qingcheng” couldn’t take her eyes off her.

It seemed Madam Yu finally noticed “Gu Qingcheng’s” gaze, and her cheeks flushed slightly before she darted behind the screen, revealing a hint of innocence.

“Gu Qingcheng’s” lips curved into a smile, feeling secretly delighted at seeing this new side of Madam Yu.

Madam Yu then set aside her matronly hair ornaments and changed into the hairstyle she wore before she got married.

In that moment, she was not Madam Yu, but an ordinary woman.

“Since you’re all set, let’s go.”

“We can’t go out the front door like this, Demon Lord. We—”

Before she could finish her sentence, “Gu Qingcheng” had already picked her up and pushed open the window. As a chilly breeze rushed in from outside, Madam Yu huddled closer into “Gu Qingcheng’s” embrace for warmth.

“From here on, call me Qingcheng.”

With a gentle step, “Gu Qingcheng” soared swiftly away from the inn, carrying Madam Yu in her arms.

Madam Yu felt the wind whip past her, and when she looked around, they had already arrived on a bustling street.

“Gu Qingcheng” donned the mask, because she didn’t want anyone to see the Demon Lord accompanying Green Isle Manor’s Madam Yu. After all, as a member of a reputable immortal sect, Madam Yu should never be seen with the demon sects’ Demon Lord.

However, Madam Yu seemed unfazed. Once again, she tugged at “Gu Qingcheng’s” unsightly mask, her face lit with youthful playfulness as she teased, “Qingcheng, are you afraid?”

“Gu Qingcheng” didn’t know if this realm still had anything that could scare her, so she slowly shook her head.

“I’m also not afraid. Today, I’m Xiao Yu, and you’re Qingcheng. Shall we pretend to be a pair of Dao companions?” Madam Yu presented the idea boldly.

“Gu Qingcheng” just nodded, finding the situation a bit unbelievable. She glanced at Madam Yu’s aura, and saw Sword Ghost smiling brightly.

It seemed that the change in her luck prevented Madam Yu from becoming too melancholic.

“Gu Qingcheng” let Madam Yu throw off her mask. The woman then grabbed “Gu Qingcheng’s” hand, pulling her along as they ran around.

It felt as if they had gone back to being teenagers, without any misgivings, or concern for who was the number one in the world. They threw caution to the wind, forgetting their identities and responsibilities.

Madam Yu tried many new things that she couldn’t do in her life. “Gu Qingcheng” quietly accompanied her, and the day flew by quickly.

By the time they realized it, the sky had darkened.

Madam Yu finally settled down, and they found themselves sitting on a rooftop, watching the sunset.

Her expression returned to the reserved and composed demeanor of a matron.

With a sigh, she murmured, “The day has come to an end.”

“Mm.”

“Gu Qingcheng” nodded in response, feeling that today had indeed been a happy day.

The expression on Madam Yu’s face was one she had never shown, even when she was with Qiao Ni. Perhaps she had been bottling up her true emotions for too long, always prioritizing others and losing herself. Therefore, the red skeletal bride came to be.

But now, Madam Yu had rediscovered herself.

“Gu Qingcheng” gazed at Madam Yu, who, upon sensing her stare, reached out and gently tidied “Gu Qingcheng’s” messy bangs.

“You’re not a child anymore, yet you still can’t take care of yourself.”

She was back to being Madam Yu.

“Gu Qingcheng” didn’t react, but inwardly, realization struck her.

She had thought Madam Yu was too weak, but a woman capable of rising to the top of Green Isle Manor couldn’t possibly be that weak.

“Gu Qingcheng” shifted her gaze back to the setting sun in front of them and asked, “The day is about to end. Is there anything else you’d like to do, Madam?”

Madam Yu, also staring at the sunset, seemed lost in thought before replying, “I want a drink.”

“Your body might not be able to handle it.”

“It’s just peach blossom wine.”

Peach blossom wine was known for being the mildest of all alcoholic drinks, perfectly suited for women. “Gu Qingcheng” found it acceptable and nodded in agreement.

However, she had underestimated Madam Yu’s low tolerance for alcohol. After just one sip, Madam Yu’s face had developed a peach blossom tinge, and her eyes became hazy.

She was already drunk.

At this moment, Madam Yu, nestled in “Gu Qingcheng’s” lap, poured more wine for her.

“Gu Qingcheng” accepted it all with a long-suffering expression.

They had emptied an entire pot of peach blossom wine, yet Madam Yu’s playful antics hadn’t ceased. Fortunately, Qiao Ni was still off playing with Jin Xiaoqin and hadn’t returned to discover the situation unfolding in the room.

Maybe Madam Yu wanted to say something under the influence of the wine, but no matter how long “Gu Qingcheng” waited, no words came.

Instead, Madam Yu just kept pouring more wine, as if her plan was to get “Gu Qingcheng” drunk to achieve some unstated goal.

But “Gu Qingcheng” couldn’t get drunk. Aside from Liu Churan’s spirit wine, there was no alcohol in the world that could overpower her.

Still, she pretended to be intoxicated, which made Madam Yu laugh. Just as she was about to pour another round, she realized they had run out of wine.
