“Otherwise, what?” Yu Jinxiao, thinking she was reluctant to go inside, simply picked up the little one, holding her horizontally, and smoothly carried her out of the car, placing her firmly on the ground.
The tiny child, with her short arms and legs, didn’t even have time to throw a tantrum before she was delivered right to the kindergarten’s entrance and handed over to the teacher.
“Hello, Mr. Yu,” the teacher took the soft little hand, already preparing the usual comforting phrases for a crying child. “Is this little Yu Yuanyuan? Hello, Yuanyuan, I’m Teacher Su.”
Still in a daze, the little one responded politely, “Hello, Teacher Su!”
Back at the orphanage, she had also attended “classes” and had met teachers before, so this wasn’t a completely unfamiliar situation.
But having spent so much time at home, suddenly being sent to kindergarten made her feel a sense of loss, reminding her of her days at the orphanage.
It even triggered memories of the time Yu Jinxiao had sent her back there.
“Yuanyuan is in your hands now.” Yu Jinxiao had already decided this morning that he would be a cold, heartless father today. No room for softness, no room for attachment. The little one had to get used to going to kindergarten every day!
Just as he was about to leave, the little one suddenly sprang up, her nimble little hands grabbing the tail end of his suit jacket.
And just like that…
She successfully connected Teacher Su’s hand with the corner of Yu Jinxiao’s suit, like a little human flag hanging in the air.
A nearby teacher from the older class couldn’t help but giggle, though she stifled it quickly, wary of Yu Jinxiao’s presence.
But who could resist laughing?
“Yu Yuanyuan!” Yu Jinxiao’s voice carried a sharp warning.
It’s common for children not to want to be left at kindergarten. When Yu Yingze was sent here, it was a nightmare. Gao Zhou and two teachers had to carry him out of the car, shove him behind the kindergarten’s iron gates, and while Yu Yingze wasn’t paying attention, Gao Zhou agilely climbed over the wall to leave, successfully trapping Yu Yingze inside.
Yu Jinxiao hadn’t been very involved at that time, only hearing about it in bits and pieces. Now, experiencing it firsthand, he realized that the hardest things in life have nothing to do with work, but everything to do with children.
“Daddy, aren’t you going to give Yuanyuan a hug?” The little one asked pitifully.
Her big black eyes were brimming with unshed tears, resembling a sweet, innocent kitten.
Who could harden their heart when faced with eyes like that?
“No matter what, you’re staying at kindergarten today. Trying to be clever won’t work.” Teacher Su clearly noticed the slight waver in Yu Jinxiao’s voice.
“But if I don’t see Daddy all day, Yuanyuan will miss you.” With that, the little one took tiny steps toward him, arms already stretched wide in anticipation of a hug.
Watching from the side, Teacher Su couldn’t help but feel her heart melt, suddenly looking forward to the future.
Would Yuanyuan ask her for hugs like this too? Just thinking about it made her giddy with excitement.
The teachers watching nearby were completely charmed by the little one, so how could Yu Jinxiao escape?
His icy expression melted as he looked down at the small hands raised toward him. In a swift movement, his tall figure crouched down, pulling Yuanyuan into his arms. He patted her soft little back, saying nothing.
The small figure seemed so fragile, as if he might break her. Yu Jinxiao even worried that she might be bullied at kindergarten.
Especially knowing how pure and kind-hearted she was, the more he thought about it, the more his temples throbbed.
No, he had to stay firm. He couldn’t drag this out any longer.
Gritting his teeth, he handed the little one over to the teacher and immediately turned to leave, only to be stopped again by Yuanyuan’s loud cry from behind.
“What now?” he muttered.
