The Secret Behind the Veil Chapter 8

Chapter 8: “Yan Kui, You Bastard, I’ll Choke You to Death”

Yan Kui carried Tang Zhishu into the dining room.

Inside the dining room, the servants stood respectfully.

On the dining table, there was an array of delicious food.

However, today was different; Yan Kui was not alone.

He was holding a girl in his arms.

When the servants saw Tang Zhishu in his embrace, they were all stunned and frozen in place.

Although they had seen her just a short while ago, witnessing it again felt surreal.

After all, their young master had never been seen with a woman before, let alone being so intimate with one.

Noticing the servants staring at Tang Zhishu, Yan Kui’s gaze turned cold. He said in a sharp voice, “Leave.”

The servants were startled and quickly lowered their heads, turning to leave the dining room.

Once all the servants were gone, Yan Kui sat Tang Zhishu down beside him.

Then, he took the seat at the head of the table.

Tang Zhishu looked at him suspiciously. “You still haven’t answered my question.”

Yan Kui, sitting elegantly in the main seat, picked up the cutlery in front of him and said in a calm voice, “Let’s eat first. I’ll tell you the answer after we’re done.”

Tang Zhishu raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

Yan Kui replied, “Really.”

She stared at him for a few seconds, then frowned and picked up the cutlery in front of her.

During this time, neither of them spoke, and the only sound in the dining room was the sharp clinking of cutlery.

Twenty minutes later.

“I’m full. Now tell me your answer,” Tang Zhishu said, putting down her cutlery and wiping her mouth with a napkin as she looked at Yan Kui.

Yan Kui lounged lazily in his chair, crossing his long legs. He lifted a coffee cup to his lips and took a sip gracefully.

Just as Tang Zhishu was about to lose her patience, he finally spoke.

“I haven’t thought it through yet.”

His voice was casual, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

Tang Zhishu was stunned. “What did you say? What do you mean you haven’t thought it through?”

“The answer is, I haven’t thought it through yet,” Yan Kui replied, looking at her.

After a few seconds of silence, Tang Zhishu suddenly exploded. She jumped up and pounced on him, gripping his neck with both hands, and shouted angrily, “Yan Kui, you bastard! If you dare to mess with me, I’ll choke you to death!”

Seeing her actions, Yan Kui raised an eyebrow, his smile dazzling. He said nonchalantly, “With that little strength of yours, do you really think you can choke me to death?”

Infuriated by his teasing words, Tang Zhishu bit his neck down so hard.

“Ah—”

Yan Kui let out a muffled grunt, watching the girl sitting on his lap, seemingly eager to bite off a piece of his flesh.

It wasn’t until she tasted blood that she reluctantly lifted her head.

Yan Kui looked at her cherry-red lips, which were smeared with a hint of red, and his smile took on a touch of cruelty.

He raised his long, pale finger and wiped it across her lips. “Do you think that after sleeping with me, you can just walk away?”

A flash of guilt crossed Tang Zhishu’s eyes as she frowned. “What else? You can’t expect me to take responsibility for you, right?”

Yan Kui let out a cold laugh and said, “You’re right; I do want you to take responsibility for me.”

Tang Zhishu was so shocked that she immediately jumped off him, staring at him in disbelief as if she couldn’t believe those words had come from this man.

After several seconds, she gritted her teeth and said, “I knew it! You would do anything to get back at me. If you think you can trick me, don’t even think about it.”

With that, Tang Zhishu stormed out of the dining room.

Yan Kui: “…”

He frowned, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes.

Did she misunderstand something?

After returning to her bedroom, Tang Zhishu paced back and forth in agitation.

She couldn’t stay calm for a moment while she was here.

“Knock, knock—”

At that moment, someone knocked on the door.

Tang Zhishu cautiously asked, “Who is it?”

“Miss, the young master asked me to bring you your phone.”

Tang Zhishu opened the door and saw a maid holding the phone he had taken from her.

She grabbed the phone and narrowed her eyes. “Is that guy really being so kind? Are you sure he sent you to give this to me?”

The maid cautiously replied, “Miss, it really was the young master who asked me to bring it to you.”

“Okay, you can go now.”

After shutting the door, Tang Zhishu quickly turned on the phone.

Once it restarted, she noticed a bunch of missed calls and messages.

All of them were from Jiang Jinyan, Zhuilang, and Anhun

.

Tang Zhishu immediately called Jiang Jinyan back.

As soon as the call connected, Jiang Jinyan picked up right away.

“Susu, you’re alive, right? You haven’t lost any limbs, have you?” Jiang Jinyan’s anxious voice came through the phone.

Tang Zhishu replied, “Don’t worry, I’m perfectly fine.”

Jiang Jinyan finally breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good. Where are you now? That guy is really sly, using sneaky tactics when the direct ones don’t work. It’s so despicable.”

Tang Zhishu gritted her teeth in anger. “Tell me about it. He’s so shameless.”

“Susu, don’t panic. I’ll have Dark Soul track your location right away.”

Tang Zhishu said, “Okay, but since Yan Kui had someone return my phone, he probably won’t let you track me.”

Jiang Jinyan cursed angrily, “Despicable!”

Tang Zhishu nodded vigorously, grinding her teeth. “Exactly, too despicable.”

After chatting for a while, Tang Zhishu suddenly thought of something. She said excitedly, “Yanyan, I’ll call you back later. I need to talk to Yan Kui about something.”

“What is it?” Jiang Jinyan asked, puzzled.

“I’ll tell you later. Let’s leave it at that for now.”

After hanging up, Tang Zhishu was about to find Yan Kui when suddenly her phone chimed with a text message.

Upon seeing the message on her screen, her expression turned cold, and a chilling intensity appeared in her eyes.

She tightened her grip on the phone, steadied her breathing, and then walked out of the bedroom.

Arriving at the study door, she knocked.

“Come in.”

A cold and indifferent voice from inside said.

Tang Zhishu pushed the door open and walked in. She looked up to see the man standing tall and elegant by the floor-to-ceiling window.

“What is it?”

His voice was calm and flat, as if he had expected her to come.

A hint of doubt crossed Tang Zhishu’s mind as she gazed at his back. She said, “Since you won’t let me leave, can I make a request?”
