Wen Zifei now had an additional band-aid, this time with a bunny face on it.
Yu Yuanyuan stared at his bandaged finger with even more envy, sighing over the adorable “finger wrap.”
When Gu Beiyan heard what had happened, he broke out in a cold sweat.
He had only focused on eating his fruit for a moment, and Yuanyuan almost got into trouble again! This couldn’t go on—he had to be a responsible knight and never let food distract him again.
“Beiyan, want a fruit candy?” A kid from the back row pulled out a round candy.
Without thinking, Gu Beiyan shouted, “Yes!”
The next second, he dashed over, grabbed the candy, and ran back.
Tearing open the wrapper and popping the candy into his mouth, he smiled contentedly, his eyes narrowing in happiness.
Wait, what was I thinking about earlier?
Oh well, can’t remember.
When break time ended, the outdoor playtime began. The teacher led the children to the sandbox and encouraged them to use their imaginations to create something.
Yu Yuanyuan squatted on the ground, thinking hard. After a long pause, inspiration struck.
Half an hour passed, teacher Qin, went around checking and giving advice on the children’s creations. Finally, she arrived at Yu Yuanyuan’s spot.
“Yuanyuan, what did you build?” Teacher Qin asked kindly, her warm and friendly demeanor making her a favorite among the kids.
The little cub was still busy shaping her creation. After giving it a few more pats, she looked up proudly and said, “Yuanyuan built… sand!”
Teacher Qin was momentarily speechless.
She had heard all sorts of creative answers, but such a straightforward one was a first.
“I know you’re building with sand, but what did you make with the sand?” Qin gently prodded, pointing to other children’s work for reference. “Look, Chu Qi built a house, Jia Jia made a flower, and Gu Beiyan sculpted a puppy. What about you, Yuanyuan? What did you build with the sand?”
While trying to guide her, Qin also took a glance at Yuanyuan’s “creation.” After looking for a while, it seemed like… well, just an ordinary mound of sand.
There was no shape, no form—just a pile.
“Yuanyuan made a sand hill out of sand!” Yu Yuanyuan beamed, her eyes sparkling. “The sand built itself!”
Alright then.
Teacher Qin finally understood.
Yu Yuanyuan had, in fact, built a sand dune with no additional shape or object in mind.
“Why not try to make something more special?” Teacher Qin encouraged, attempting to communicate with the imaginative child. “Like a cloud, or maybe a little bowl?”
“Isn’t the sand hill special?” The little cub tilted her head, confused.
Her innocent question caught Teacher Qin off guard.
As teachers, they shouldn’t stifle the creativity or imagination of children. And after thinking it over, Yu Yuanyuan wasn’t exactly wrong.
Who said a sand hill couldn’t be special?
It might not be as complex as the other kids’ works, but that didn’t mean her creation was any less valid.
“A sand hill made by Yuanyuan is definitely special,” Qin said with a smile, patting Yu Yuanyuan’s head. “You can rest now, but make sure to dust off all the sand.”
“Got it!” The little cub stood up and carefully brushed the sand off her clothes.
But just as she was halfway done, a soccer ball suddenly flew in from the distance and crashed into her sand hill, leaving a huge crater.
Yu Yuanyuan froze.
Teacher Qin also froze.
In the distance, Wen Zifei grinned mischievously, a look of pure mischief on his face. “Oops, my bad. Totally not on purpose—hahaha!”
