Chapter 14: Tang Xin Cried Out
Tang Xin messing with that photo made Tang Zhishu so angry because it was the only picture she had with her brother—the last thing he had left behind.
It was also her only connection to him…
Twenty-three years ago, when her mother Su Meiren discovered she was pregnant with twins, she decided to give birth to both her and her brother.
But when her brother was just four years old, he suddenly disappeared. Despite years of searching, Tang Zhishu couldn’t find him.
To make things worse, Su Meiren never knew who their father was when she was pregnant with them.
Because of this, Su Meiren, who was the youngest and only daughter of Tang Zhishu’s grandfather, lived with her and her children at the Tang family estate. Over the years, her two uncles suspected that Su Meiren and her children were trying to compete for the family inheritance. So, they often made life difficult for them, both openly and secretly.
But no matter how tough things got, Tang Zhishu and Su Meiren were not people to be easily bullied.
Ten years after her brother disappeared, Tang Zhishu happened to run into Tang Weiwen, who was homeless and wandering the streets.
At the time, she didn’t hesitate to take Tang Weiwen home with her, adopting her as her little sister.
As Tang Zhishu was recalling all of this, a sigh suddenly interrupted her thoughts.
“Sweetie, do you blame me for losing your brother?” Su Meiren’s voice was filled with regret and guilt.
Then, Tang Zhishu saw her mother sitting down beside her.
She turned and looked at her mother’s beautiful, enchanting face, now clouded with sadness.
Tang Zhishu smiled gently and said softly, “Su Meiren, don’t overthink it. I don’t blame you. I know you’ve been searching for him all these years too. I believe we’ll find him one day.”
Hearing her daughter’s comforting words, Su Meiren’s eyes reddened. But she tried to hold back her tears, tilting her head up to stop them from falling.
Tang Zhishu knew her mother always acted tough around her, but deep down, when it came to her missing brother, her mother was more heartbroken than anyone else.
Tang Zhishu patted her mother’s shoulder, comforting her. “Su Meiren, if you want to cry, go ahead. I won’t laugh at you.”
Su Meiren pursed her lips, stubbornly blinking her captivating fox-like eyes to hold back tears. “No way, I’ll ruin my makeup.”
Tang Zhishu: “…”
Su Meiren sighed sadly, “Sweetie, do you think if I had asked for that man’s contact info back then, we might’ve found your brother by now? Or maybe he wouldn’t have gone missing at all?”
Tang Zhishu gave her a skeptical look. “Do you really think he would’ve told you, even if you had asked?”
Su Meiren frowned, thinking it over. After a moment, she said, “Probably not. That guy was cold as ice. I honestly wonder if, had he known I was the one who spent that night with him, he might’ve killed me.”
“But, to be fair, your biological father was incredibly handsome. I don’t remember much from that night, but I’ll never forget his face. He was exactly my type. In all these years, after flirting with every man in the city I still haven’t found anyone who could compare to him in looks.”
Su Meiren’s face lit up with a dreamy expression.
Tang Zhishu: “…”
She turned away, staring blankly at the white wall.
Yes, she and her brother came into this world because Su Meiren spent a night with their biological father, twenty-three years ago.
For a while, both of them just sat there quietly, lost in their own thoughts.
It wasn’t until they heard Tang Weiwen’s voice break the silence.
“Godmother, Sis, the clothes have been delivered. Do you want to try them on?”
Tang Weiwen, who looked androgynous, had short hair that made her features even more striking and charming.
Her appearance and aura had the kind of allure that could turn heads.
As soon as Tang Sumei heard this, she immediately pulled Tang Zhishu outside, saying, “Darling, let’s go try on the dresses! I bought many for you and Wenwen. Let’s see which one suits you, so we can look beautiful at your grandpa’s party tomorrow night and make those two women jealous!”
…
Today was Tang Cangxiao’s eighty-sixth birthday.
At seven o’clock in the evening.
The grand and luxurious Tang family mansion was decorated festively and solemnly, creating a spectacular scene.
Many guests, all wealthy and important people, had already arrived. They took the opportunity to greet Old Man Tang with their gifts.
When Tang Zhishu, Tang Sumei, and Tang Weiwen entered the banquet hall, all eyes were immediately on them.
Tang Zhishu wore a deep blue strapless evening gown that highlighted her delicate shoulders and collarbone.
Her long, black hair was styled up, and her beautifully made-up face looked both alluring and pure.
Tang Sumei, beside her, wore a tight-fitting red qipao that showcased her sexy and charming figure, exuding an elegant yet captivating aura.
In contrast to the two, Tang Weiwen chose a black suit paired with a white shirt.
With her androgynous features, Tang Weiwen looked even more striking in the black suit, enhanced by a pair of gold-rimmed glasses and a stylish short haircut that made her look both cool and attractive. Many socialites couldn’t help but steal glances at her.
As Tang Zhishu walked down, she quickly made her way toward the mansion’s entrance.
At the same time, a limited-edition black Rolls Royce parked at the entrance.
Then, the door on one side of the Rolls Royce opened, and a man nearly two meters tall stepped out of the car.
He wore a black suit, exuding a noble and elegant presence, with an icy aura that conveyed a cold authority. His handsome facial features were striking.
After stepping out, he walked around the car to the other side, opened the door, and extended his hand to help the woman inside.
Jiang Jinyan took Mo Jinhan’s hand as she stepped out of the car, wearing a black evening gown that radiated a mysterious and alluring beauty.
When Tang Zhishu saw Jiang Jinyan, she excitedly rushed over, shouting, “Yanyan, we finally meet again!”
Jiang Jinyan smiled, opened her arms, and hugged Tang Zhishu, saying, “Congratulations! You finally escaped the claws of that monster.”
Tang Zhishu beamed, “Today is a great day! Let’s not talk about that annoying guy; come on, let’s go inside and have a drink.”
As Tang Zhishu pulled Jiang Jinyan to go inside, suddenly a black Lincoln stopped not far away.
Tang Zhishu caught a glimpse of it but quickly turned her gaze away.
However, the next moment, she thought the car looked somewhat familiar.
Curiously, she turned back to look again.
When she saw the Lincoln’s door open, for some reason, her heart started racing.
Before she could think too much, she froze in place as she saw a handsome man step out of the car.
“Oh my God!!”
The girl’s shocked voice rang out loudly…
