The Secret Behind the Veil Chapter 17

Chapter 17: “If I Can’t Control Myself and Kiss You Again”

Tang Zhishu found herself wrapped in a cold embrace that carried a fresh, pleasant scent.

As their eyes met, Yan Kui stared at her expressionlessly with his deep, dark eyes.

For a moment, Tang Zhishu was mesmerized by Yan Kui’s handsome face, but then, out of instinct, she quickly pushed him away.

She pushed Yan Kui: “……”

His expression grew even colder.

Tang Xin, witnessing this scene and especially Yan Kui’s icy demeanor, felt a sense of satisfaction.

“Cousin, be careful! Bumping into Young Master Yan is a big trouble” Tang Xin feigned surprise and concern.

Tang Zhishu: “……”

Seriously, she had never seen someone so shameless.

Seeing Tang Zhishu’s anxious expression, Tang Xin felt she had achieved her goal and quickly turned to leave.

What she didn’t realize was that Tang Zhishu wasn’t anxious because of the collision with Yan Kui. It was just that being near him made her uneasy, especially since she had just escaped from him.

As Yan Kui gazed at her, she narrowed her eyes, stepped back, and instinctively crossed her arms over her chest, watching him warily. “Don’t look at me like that; I didn’t do it on purpose!”

Yan Kui regarded her with a teasing gaze, seeming to mock her: “Then why were you so reserved when you slept with me that night?”

Tang Zhishu: “……”

Her cheeks suddenly flushed. Her expression changed from embarrassment to shame, and finally to anger. “Can we not keep bringing up that night? It makes me sound like a heartless person!”

Yan Kui chuckled, clearly amused by her reaction. “If you don’t bring it up, does that mean you’re not?”

“……”

Her mood had clearly soured!

While Tang Zhishu was grinding her teeth in frustration, suddenly, Yan Kui stepped closer, bending slightly to bring his face near hers.

His midnight-black eyes focused on her, and with his unique magnetic voice, he said, “Heartless girl, I have evidence of what you did with me. Don’t think you can deny it.”

“……”

The sudden closeness brought Yan Kui’s distinctive male scent rushing at her, leaving Tang Zhishu momentarily stunned.

She stared at his striking features and felt a twinge of envy.

How unfair! How could someone be so good-looking that even a girl like her felt a hint of jealousy?

Snapping back to reality, Tang Zhishu pushed him away and glared at him. “Don’t get so close! If I can’t control myself and kiss you again, who will take the blame?”

Yan Kui raised an eyebrow, teasingly responding, “It’ll be my fault.”

Tang Zhishu paused, surprised. “What did you just say?”

“I said, if you want to kiss me now, you can blame me for it,” Yan Kui replied with a playful smile.

But after he spoke, Tang Zhishu’s expression turned serious.

The next moment, she stepped closer to him, her expression unusually serious, and reached out to check his forehead.

Frowning, she looked at him intently and asked, “Yan Kui, are you sick?”

Yan Kui: “……”

He was so infuriated that he let out a cold laugh. “Are you insulting me?”

Tang Zhishu shook her head, still frowning as she asked seriously, “Don’t get me wrong; I’m not insulting you. I genuinely want to know if you’re sick.”

The man’s expression darkened, and he gritted his teeth slightly. “Want to know? Fine, come back with me, and I’ll tell you.”

As soon as Tang Zhishu heard this, she realized he was angry, and she quickly stepped back a meter, her smile stiffening. “I’m going to find Xiaoyan. Don’t look for me unless it’s something important.”

With that, Tang Zhishu hurriedly left.

Yan Kui watched her flee, his expression dark and troubled.

He stood there, staring at her joyful figure in the distance for a while, then suddenly raised his hand and waved in a certain direction.

Before long, A-Ming appeared behind him.

“Sir.”

Yan Kui, one hand in his pocket, gazed at Tang Zhishu’s retreating figure and suddenly asked, “Do you think I’m sick?”

A-Ming: “……”

A-Ming felt a cold sweat soak through his back; he lowered his head in fear. If one looked closely, they could see his body slightly trembling.

With a stiff expression, A-Ming replied, “Young Master, even if you gave me ten lives, I wouldn’t dare to think that.”

Yan Kui didn’t relax at his subordinate’s response; instead, his frown deepened.

He questioned again, “Then why did she ask me if I was sick?”

A-Ming broke into a cold sweat. “Miss Tang must be concerned about you.”

Yan Kui snorted coldly. “Concerned? She would rather stay far away from me.”

A-Ming dutifully responded, “That’s because Miss Tang is blind to your qualities.”

As soon as A-Ming finished speaking, Yan Kui’s icy gaze shot over, coldly asking, “Are you insulting her?”

A-Ming was scared into lowering his head. “I wouldn’t dare, Young Master.”

“You just insulted her.”

A-Ming: “……”

He helplessly lowered his head.

Tonight, the Young Master made him feel like if the apocalypse were coming, tomorrow would be the day.

Yan Kui furrowed his brows, staring at the girl in the distance.

He still couldn’t understand her intentions.

In contrast to Yan Kui’s frustration, Tang Zhishu had completely forgotten about him, sipping champagne while occasionally glancing at the wealthy young men present.

However, as she looked around, she realized that none of the men there could compare to Yan Kui’s handsome face.

Suddenly, she lost interest in admiring the handsome men.

Just as she was about to go find Jiang Jinyan, she suddenly noticed Tang Xin nearby, chatting with several wealthy young ladies.

Tonight, Tang Xin was wearing an expensive dress, but with her bruised face, she looked particularly horrifying.

Seeing Tang Xin holding champagne, Tang Zhishu’s eyes twinkled mischievously.

A wicked smile spread across her lips.

Tang Zhishu sauntered over to Tang Xin.

Walking in her high heels with an alluring gait, she attracted countless glances along the way.

Just as Tang Zhishu approached Tang Xin from behind, she suddenly pretended to trip and crashed into Tang Xin.

Champagne splashed onto Tang Xin’s dress.

Tang Xin, who was chatting with several socialites, was intentionally knocked over and lurched forward.

Just as she was about to bump into a wealthy lady in front of her, Tang Zhishu quickly pulled her back.

But Tang Xin fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Her fall was comically awkward.

Surrounding guests couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Tang Zhishu quickly helped her up, feigning guilt. “I’m so sorry! It was an accident. It’s my fault. Your face was already ugly enough, and now after that fall, your dress is completely ruined.”

Hearing the laughter around her, Tang Xin glared at Tang Zhishu in hatred.

As she was about to explode in anger, Tang Zhishu suddenly said, “Don’t blame me for not warning you; tonight is Grandfather’s birthday party. Do you really want to make a scene?”

As expected, the moment Tang Zhishu said that, Tang Xin immediately held her tongue.

However, her eyes, like venomous snakes, remained fixed on Tang Zhishu.

Tang Zhishu smiled smugly, leaned closer, and whispered just loud enough for them to hear, “Don’t look at me like that; I’m just returning the favor.”

With that, Tang Zhishu turned and left.

Tang Xin stared at her departing figure, her face twisted in fury.

Tang Zhishu made her way to the public restroom to wash off the wine stains from the dress after purposely knocking Tang Xin down.

However, while walking and looking down at the wine stains on her dress, she suddenly bumped into someone.

Tang Zhishu instinctively looked up. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to…”

As she raised her head and saw the person she had bumped into, she froze, her eyes widen…..
