Chapter 19: Going to the Orphanage
Tang Zhishu’s gaze landed on the name Butler Liu was pointing to.
Fu Yushen.
She stared at the name, silently repeating it in her mind.
So, his name is Fu Yushen.
“Third Miss, is there something wrong with this person?”
Butler Liu’s voice interrupted her thoughts.
Tang Zhishu put on a natural smile. “No, I don’t recognize this name. It seems I made a mistake.”
Butler Liu smiled kindly. “It’s fine as long as there’s no issue.”
Tang Zhishu looked at Butler Liu and said, “Thank you, Uncle Liu, I apologize for the trouble.”
Butler Liu chuckled. “You’re too polite, Third Miss. It’s my duty.”
“Well, you should rest early. I’ll head back to my room now.”
“Okay, Third Miss.”
After returning to her bedroom, Tang Zhishu took off her high heels.
Then, she removed her heavy evening gown.
As she unzipped the dress, it slid down her body.
The moonlight streaming through the window illuminated the girl’s graceful and sexy figure.
Her skin was fair, smooth, and delicate.
Tang Zhishu casually put on a bathrobe.
She lazily tied the belt around her waist and walked barefoot with a light and carefree gait to the balcony.
In the next moment, she picked up her phone and dialed a number.
The call connected shortly after ringing.
“Wow, Susu, you finally remembered me?”
On the other end, a surprised voice belonged to Chasing Wolf.
Tang Zhishu chuckled lightly. “Yeah, I need you to investigate something.”
“Susu, you call me just to investigate? Awwtss your breaking my heart!” Chasing Wolf said in a pitiful tone.
Tang Zhishu was already used to his antics.
She suddenly became serious. “I need you to find out about a person named Fu Yushen, as soon as possible.”
Hearing her serious tone, Chasing Wolf understood the importance of the matter.
“Got it, I’ll have results for you by tomorrow morning.”
Tang Zhishu yawned lazily, fatigue creeping into her voice. “Okay, if there’s nothing else, I’m going to sleep.”
Chasing Wolf picked up on her tiredness and stopped teasing her. “Alright, get some rest. I’ll send you the information tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Tang Zhishu turned and entered the bathroom.
After a quick shower, she lay on her soft bed and closed her eyes to rest.
In a private apartment in a dimly lit living room.
A figure sat on the sofa.
He was tall and slender.
Yet, he emanated a cold, distant aura that made everyone hesitant to approach.
In the darkness, his light-colored eyes appeared dull and gloomy.
He sat quietly, a red cigarette pinched between his fingers, standing out starkly in the dark room.
Smoke floated silently in the night.
The scene was eerie yet felt like this dark, lonely existence was his norm.
Suddenly, a ring broke the silence of the living room.
The man’s eyes finally showed some reaction.
He answered the phone.
“Someone is investigating you.”
On the other end was a mechanical, hoarse voice.
Cold, devoid of any human warmth.
At this, his eyes flickered slightly.
Then, he hung up the phone.
With a blank expression, he stared at the night outside.
The silence was terrifying.
Yet, it was something he couldn’t help but enjoy.
The Next Day.
Tang Zhishu was awakened by her phone ringing.
Seeing it was Chasing Wolf calling, she answered it immediately.
“Hi, babe, good morning!”
Chasing Wolf’s cheeky voice came through.
Tang Zhishu, still groggy and with a low, sexy voice, asked, “Did you find anything?”
“Ah, Susu, you hurt my feelings. Do I mean so little to you that this Fu Yushen guy is more important?”
Tang Zhishu frowned. “Get to the point.”
Chasing Wolf quickly stopped joking. “Okay, okay! I sent the investigation results to your computer.”
Tang Zhishu opened her phone and saw that Chasing Wolf had indeed sent her the information.
At that moment, Chasing Wolf’s voice came through again. “I didn’t find much on this Fu Yushen, but I did learn that nineteen years ago, he was taken in by an orphanage called ‘Wansheng’
He stayed there for four years before being adopted. The strange thing is, I couldn’t find out who adopted him, and there isn’t much more information on him.”
As Chasing Wolf spoke, Tang Zhishu’s gaze fell on the data on her computer screen.
Nineteen years ago was also the year her brother went missing.
Was this a coincidence, or could this Fu Yushen possibly be her brother?
Tang Zhishu bit her cherry-red lips, lost in thought.
“Susu, you suspect this Fu Yushen guy is your missing brother, right?” Chasing Wolf asked.
Tang Zhishu nodded. “Exactly. Regardless of whether he is or not, if there’s even a slight chance, I don’t want to miss it.”
“I understand. Since you want to investigate, we can start with this ‘Wansheng’ orphanage. Maybe we’ll find some useful clues.”
Tang Zhishu’s eyes lit up. “I never knew you could be this smart!”
Upon hearing Tang Zhishu’s compliment, Chasing Wolf was serious for about three seconds before he grinned. “So, you finally see my charm! Want to jump into my arms?”
Tang Zhishu replied, “… You get carried away with one compliment, don’t you?”
Without waiting for his response, she continued, “Drop everything you’re doing right now and come with me to check out this ‘Wansheng’ orphanage.”
“Alright, Susu, I’ll be there right away!”
One Hour Later.
Chasing Wolf arrived at the agreed-upon location.
Tang Zhishu spotted a flashy red sports car in the distance and walked over to open the door, getting in.
“Susu, it’s been a while. Shouldn’t we hug?”
Chasing Wolf spread his arms and leaned toward her in the passenger seat.
But before he could touch her, Tang Zhishu shot him a cold glance.
“Do you want to get hit?”
Chasing Wolf quickly retracted his hands. “You really hurt my feelings me.”
His handsome face wore a pitiful expression as he looked at her.
But he didn’t push further, starting the car and driving off in a certain direction.
“That orphanage is a bit far away and quite secluded. It’ll take about two hours to get there,” Chasing Wolf said as he drove.
Tang Zhishu nodded. “Mm.”
She gazed out the window at the scenery, her expression calm.
But inside, she was starting to feel anxious.
For the entire trip, they didn’t speak. Chasing Wolf knew she was deep in thought, so he didn’t interrupt her.
Two Hours Later.
The flashy red sports car slowly drove down a secluded country road.
After about another ten minutes, the car finally stopped in front of an orphanage that looked very run-down and carried a desolate air.
