The Secret Behind the Veil Chapter 24

Chapter 24: “Tang Zhishu: I’m Allergic to Men”

The two girls couldn’t understand why their cousin would show up here.

The moment Yan Kui stepped out of the luxury car, everyone instinctively turned to look at him.

Standing at 1.90 meters tall, Yan Kui wore a rare black casual outfit, his hands casually tucked into his pockets.

He was an incredibly handsome man.

However, his beauty lacked any feminine quality. His features were finely sculpted, his face had smooth lines, and he exuded a distinguished aura that captivated everyone’s attention.

As soon as they saw him, everyone’s gaze was filled with awe.

Even Fu Yushen narrowed his amber eyes and stared at Yan Kui for several seconds.

Then, Fu Yushen looked away and closed his eyes, seemingly lost in thought.

Tang Zhishu was shocked as she watched Yan Kui walk towards them.

At that moment, Director Chen approached with a bright smile. “Young Master Yan, hello! I’m Chen Kaige; just call me Director Chen.”

Yan Kui slowly lifted his half-closed, almond-shaped eyes, his gaze icy. Although he appeared lazy, his eyes were cold and penetrating as he looked at Director Chen.

After a brief glance, he nodded slightly.

Feeling Yan Kui’s gaze, Director Chen’s back tightened, and he instinctively felt a chill run down his spine.

Cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

After managing a few forced remarks, he turned and walked away.

Once Director Chen left, Lin Xiaoxiao and Liang Xiaoya snapped out of their daze and looked at Yan Kui with shy expressions.

Brave Lin Xiaoxiao spoke up, “Hello! We have plenty of space here; you can stand with us!”

She put on a playful and cheerful expression, hoping Yan Kui would come over.

However, Yan Kui didn’t even glance at her and instead stood directly between Tang Zhishu and Lu Zilin.

As he approached, a strong sense of pressure enveloped the space, causing Lu Zilin to quickly move aside in fright.

Seeing this, Lin Xiaoxiao’s face turned awkward and embarrassed.

Standing next to Tang Zhishu, Yan Kui secretly glared at her and whispered, “Why are you here?”

Yan Kui raised an eyebrow, glancing at her with a smirk. “If you can show up, why can’t I?”

Tang Zhishu felt somewhat annoyed. “You came here because of me? I mean, is it really necessary? Even if you find me, what does it matter?”

She sighed, feeling all her focus was on finding her brother, leaving no spare energy to deal with this man, let alone think about running away.

Hearing this, Yan Kui was taken aback. He looked at her with a hint of surprise and a teasing smile. “You’re quite confident, aren’t you?”

Tang Zhishu felt confused by his words.

If he wasn’t here to take revenge on her, then why was he? What did he mean by that?

She couldn’t figure it out and didn’t want to think about it further.

Meanwhile, Lin Xiaoxiao, noticing the two were whispering to each other, felt seeds of jealousy start to grow in her heart as she recalled her earlier embarrassment.

Fu Yushen, who had been silent, cast a gloomy glance at the two talking closely—Tang Zhishu and Yan Kui.

He watched them for a moment before looking away.

By now, it was already ten in the morning.

The sun was beginning to heat up.

The pampered Yan Luo’s skin started to redden under the sunlight.

With an impatient expression, Yan Luo looked at Director Chen and asked, “Director, how much longer until we leave? I’m going to get sunburned.”

Director Chen also felt a bit anxious. He apologized, saying, “Miss Yan, I’m very sorry. Since the other two guests haven’t arrived yet, I just contacted them. They should be here soon.”

Yan Luo had never endured such discomfort; she was used to everyone waiting for her, not the other way around. Her face turned sour as she wondered who could be making so many people wait.

After waiting for another ten minutes, with everyone growing increasingly impatient, a Bentley finally appeared.

Moments later, Tang Xin stepped out of the car, dressed head-to-toe in designer clothes, accompanied by a handsome young man.

Tang Zhishu felt somewhat surprised upon seeing them, though not shocked. She could guess that Tang Xin had heard about her participation in the show and decided to tag along.

The reason for her presence was obvious.

As for the man beside Tang Xin, Tang Zhishu had seen him once before.

Her impression of him was terrible; he was simply an average guy in her eyes.

After getting out of the car, Tang Xin linked arms with Song Fengcheng, strutting toward them in high heels, her face adorned with heavy makeup. She glanced at Tang Zhishu, a strange smile crossing her lips.

Then she turned her attention to Director Chen and said, “Director, is everyone here? Let’s get in the car quickly. It’s too sunny; if I get sunburned, your show will have to compensate.”

Song Fengcheng affectionately pinched her nose and laughed, “You’re so delicate.”

Tang Xin shot him a glare, acting coy as she replied, “I’m just afraid of getting sunburned.”

Watching this scene made Tang Zhishu’s skin crawl.

Yan Luo felt nauseated, covering her mouth as she turned to Tang Zhishu with a haughty expression. “Hey, you bad woman, let me take a look at you.”

Tang Zhishu raised an eyebrow with a wicked smile. “So you finally see my charm, huh?”

Yan Luo’s face scrunched up as she replied seriously, “Bad woman, stop talking! I need to wash my eyes; that woman is too hard on the eyes.”

Hearing this, Tang Zhishu immediately realized who she was talking about and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

She looked at Yan Luo and playfully pinched her perfect cheeks, smiling, “Since we’re on the same side, let me use my beauty to heal your eyes.”

Yan Luo swatted her hand away, her cheeks flushed as she glared at her. “You bad woman, stop pinching my cheeks never again!”

Tang Zhishu grinned and quickly pinched her cheeks again, saying, “Hmm, nice texture!”

Yan Luo pouted, her round eyes glaring at her.

“Now that everyone is here, let’s get on the bus and get going!” Director Chen’s voice rang out.

Everyone boarded the bus.

Once on, Tang Zhishu headed straight to the back and sat down.

As soon as she sat, the seat beside her was taken over.

Turning her head, she was greeted by Yan Kui’s face, which was so attractive it could be criminal.

She frowned and said, “Can you sit somewhere else?”

Yan Kui didn’t look at her and lazily replied, “Reason?”

Tang Zhishu thought for a moment and said, “I’m allergic to men.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a teasing smile spread across Yan Kui’s face. He turned to her, his deep voice dripping with sarcasm as he said, “If I hadn’t slept with you, I might actually believe that.”

Tang Zhishu: “……”

She quickly covered his mouth with her hand, glaring at him in warning. “There are so many people here; can you stop bringing up that night?”
