The Secret Behind the Veil Chapter 27

Chapter 27: “You Two Will Share a Room”

Everyone looked at Director Chen with curiosity.

As they were eager to know more, Director Chen began, “Five years ago, a major incident occurred in a hotel in Wuren Town.”

“Before I continue, let me tell you about Wuren Town. The reason there aren’t many people living here is because there’s an undeveloped primeval forest nearby. Once someone enters that forest, they disappear and never return, and no one can find them.

After this news spread, many young people from the town, curious about the forest, went inside. The result was always the same; the situation escalated, and those few residents left the town out of fear. The hotel didn’t exist before this; it was opened by the owner to make money, knowing that many young adventurers would come to the town.”

“Is the major incident you mentioned related to that primeval forest?” Yan Luo asked eagerly, her big round eyes sparkling as she looked at Director Chen.

Director Chen shook his head and replied, “No, it’s because of another event.”

Lu Zilin, who hadn’t spoken since getting on the bus, couldn’t help but ask, “What event?”

Director Chen explained, “One night, five years ago, a group of criminals attacked the hotel. They were killing anyone in sight, and it just so happened to be nighttime. The hotel was located in a remote area, and that night, including staff and guests, there were thirty-three people inside.

Fortunately, the hotel manager remained calm. Knowing the layout of the hotel well, he led fifteen survivors down from the eighth floor to the basement, sneaking past the criminals.”

“However, since it was nighttime and the criminals had cut off communication signals, they couldn’t call for help. They hid in the basement for three days. Because the guests’ families couldn’t reach them, they reported them missing, and the police eventually rescued them.”

Director Chen sighed as he continued, “Sadly, due to not eating or drinking for so long and some injuries, three people unfortunately died.”

After hearing this, everyone felt a heavy mood settle over them.

But Director Chen continued, “Because of this incident, access to the forest was prohibited. Our filming location is the hotel in Wuren Town.”

Everyone was shocked to hear this.

Lin Xiaoxiao said fearfully, “Director Chen, why would you choose to film there?”

Liang Xiaoya timidly nodded, “Yeah, it sounds scary.”

As soon as they spoke, Yan Luo became excited.

Initially reluctant to come at her cousin’s request, she now had rosy cheeks and bright eyes, looking at Director Chen with enthusiasm. “Director, how much longer until we arrive? Filming there will be so thrilling!”

Yan Luo seemed unable to contain her excitement.

Director Chen smiled cheerfully, “That’s right! Our filming location was approved by the relevant authorities. We’re looking forward to seeing how you all perform!”

After Director Chen finished introducing everything, Yan Kui suddenly turned to Tang Zhishu and asked, “Are you scared?”

Tang Zhishu was taken aback. “Scared of what?”

Yan Kui stared at her. “The hotel.”

Tang Zhishu shrugged her legs and replied nonchalantly, “What’s there to be scared of? Are the ghosts going to appear? I’m not afraid of cunning and treacherous people, so why would I be afraid of ghosts?”

Yan Kui: “……”

The man’s brows instantly furrowed.

For some reason, he felt as if her words were directed at him.

Yan Kui stared at her, his expression tense.

Noticing his gaze, Tang Zhishu defiantly said, “What are you looking at? Don’t take it personally; I didn’t specify that you were the treacherous one. If that’s how you want to interpret it, I can’t help you.”

Yan Kui: “……”

Fifteen minutes later.

The bus gradually entered a very quiet little town.

Since almost no one had lived in this town for years, it appeared unusually desolate and somewhat eerie.

The people on the bus looked out the windows with a mix of curiosity and fear.

Unlike Lin Xiaoxiao and Liang Xiaoya, who showed fear, Yan Luo was excitedly gazing out at the surroundings.

Tang Zhishu was also observing the environment.

As they drove through, they saw dilapidated buildings, with only a few elderly residents remaining in the town.

The elderly people looked curiously at the bus as it passed.

After a few more minutes, the bus finally stopped in front of a hotel.

The location of the hotel couldn’t be called convenient.

If someone had never been here before, they wouldn’t even know the way.

The area was surrounded by trees, and in the distance across from the hotel was the undeveloped forest that Director Chen had mentioned.

The hotel appeared somewhat rundown after being closed for five years.

Perhaps due to the knowledge of past deaths, there was an inexplicable eerie feeling surrounding it.

After getting off the bus, Lin Xiaoxiao and Liang Xiaoya looked slightly pale and nervously glanced around, sticking close to Director Chen and the staff.

In contrast, Yan Luo was excited. While she felt a little scared, she was emboldened by the presence of her sister and cousin.

Lu Zilin also seemed a bit frightened, keeping close to the production team.

Tang Zhishu occasionally stole glances at Fu Yushen, who had been silent the whole time.

He stood there with an expressionless face, emanating a coldness that made people feel distant and reluctant to approach him.

Yan Kui had noticed that Tang Zhishu kept looking at others, and his expression darkened.

At that moment, Director Chen spoke up.

“Dear guests, the hotel in front of us is our filming location. Considering that everyone must be tired, we’ll start filming the first episode tomorrow morning. The details of the first episode will be announced in the morning.”

He continued with a smile, “Tonight, we’ll be staying here. You can take some time to get accustomed to the place. However, for the sake of the show’s effect and mystery, we ask that you stay within your assigned rooms and do not wander around the hotel.”

“We have to stay here tonight?” Lin Xiaoxiao exclaimed, looking like she was about to cry.

Director Chen responded, “Yes. But we understand that this may be frightening, so we’ve arranged for two guests to share a room. You can arrange who you want to stay with tonight.”

As soon as he finished, Yan Luo immediately raised her hand, smiling brightly, and said, “I’ll stay with my sister.”

Lin Xiaoxiao instantly gave a pitiful look at Fu Yushen, biting her lip nervously. “Senior Fu, can I stay in the same room as you?”

Fu Yushen remained indifferent, not even looking at her as he coldly replied, “I refuse.”

Being turned down in front of so many people made Lin Xiaoxiao’s expression sour.

To avoid the awkwardness, Director Chen quickly intervened. “Xiaoxiao, aren’t you good friends with Xiaoya? You two can share a room, and it’ll be better for each other.”

He then turned to Fu Yushen and asked, “Yushen, is it okay if you share a room with Zilin?”

Fu Yushen frowned but eventually nodded, “Okay.”

Director Chen looked at Tang Xin and asked, “So, you and Mr. Song are…?”

Tang Xin replied haughtily, “Of course, I’ll be sharing a room with my brother Fengcheng.”

Finally, Director Chen looked at Tang Zhishu and Yan Kui, feeling a bit at a loss. “Young Master Yan, you and Miss Tang…”

Before Director Chen could finish, Tang Zhishu interrupted, “Director, I can stay in a room by myself.”

“No way,” Yan Kui suddenly said.
