Zhang Guilan rushed into the main room in one breath, only to find that the bicycle that had been placed there the night before was gone.
She immediately let out a loud cry, “Who the hell stole my bicycle!”
Su Erqiang, hearing that it had been stolen, also jumped up and down in a panic, grabbing Su Yi and asking, “Did someone really break into our house? When did it happen? Why didn’t I hear anything?”
Su Yi blinked, “I didn’t see anything either. I just got up and found that the things in my bag were gone, so I hurried to call you two. But I couldn’t wake you up, so I went to the next room to call Mom and Dad, but they weren’t there, and the room was in a mess. That’s when I finally woke you two up. I was just about to report it to the police.”
Zhang Guilan, hearing that her room was also affected, rushed towards her own room in a hurry.
As soon as she entered, she saw that the wardrobe door was wide open, and the things inside had been turned upside down. The drawers were also left open.
Zhang Guilan felt her head spin, but she forced herself to check under the mattress.
Seeing that it was empty, she couldn’t catch her breath and fainted.
Su Xingfa, seeing this, also lost his composure.
“Quick, quick, go to the village head’s house and borrow a tractor to take your mother to the hospital.”
“Then hurry and find the police to catch the thief.”
“And call your older brother, tell him to come back quickly to see what happened.”
Su Erqiang was heartbroken over his lost bicycle, and even more so when he learned that the money and coupons saved for his marriage had also been stolen.
He sat dejectedly in the main room, refusing to move.
Su Sanhu, being a mischievous child at heart, was even less reliable in the face of such a situation.
Seeing Su Xingfa frantically giving orders, Su Yi asked, “Dad, those two are no use, what should I do first?”
Su Xingfa pointed at Su Yi angrily, his eyes wide, but he couldn’t speak.
Su Yi nodded, “Okay, I’ll go find the village head first.”
Leaving the house, Su Yi headed straight for the village head’s house, following his memory.
Su Yi told the village head about the theft and how Zhang Guilan had fainted from anger.
The village head immediately brought a few people to see for themselves.
Sure enough, the house was in complete disarray.
Su Xingfa held Zhang Guilan, pounding the ground in anger.
His two sons sat on the floor, not knowing what to do.
The village head shook his head. This family had no one capable in a crisis. It was Su Yi, that little girl, who was reliable.
She knew to come and find people, and she spoke clearly and logically.
He immediately followed her instructions, “Quick, you few, help carry Zhang Guilan to the tractor outside. You two go to the town to report the crime.”
Then, he turned to Su Yi, “Who stays here to wait for the police? Who goes to the hospital?”
Su Yi was just about to look for an opportunity to go to the county.
“I’ll go to the hospital!” she said immediately. “It’s more convenient for a daughter to take care of her, and I don’t know what was stolen from home. Let them three stay at home and wait for the police.”
The village chief nodded. “That’s best.”
After making arrangements, Su Yi quickly reached out to Su Xingfa. “Dad, I don’t have a single cent on me. Can you give me some money?”
Su Xingfa yelled at her, “Where would I have any money? All the money is with your mother, it’s been stolen!”
Su Yi pursed her lips. “You shouldn’t yell at me. How can I go to the hospital without money? Are you going to watch your wife die?”
The onlookers also spoke up for Su Yi. “Did they steal the money you three had saved? If not, then quickly give it to the girl!”
“Oh, Zhang Guilan has always been so kind to them. But when it comes down to it, the daughter is the most reliable. They’re as good as dead!”
“Exactly, I saw Erqiang go to the county to buy new clothes just the other day. Sanhu also went to the supply and marketing cooperative in town to buy food. How could they possibly be out of money?”
Su Xingfa saw everyone watching the commotion.
He was furious and called his two sons into the house.
After a while, he finally took out twenty-odd yuan. “This is all I could find. Take it and use it for now. If it’s not enough, call your elder brother and sister-in-law and ask them to come over.”
Su Yi was finally satisfied. She tucked the money away and went out to the tractor.
As she reached the village entrance, she saw Qin Yunfeng and Bai Ruolin standing there waiting for the bus.
Seeing the tractor, they waved and shouted from a distance, “Is this bus going to the county?”
Before the villagers driving the bus could answer, Su Yi quietly poked her head out from the back. “We’re in a hurry to go to the hospital, we can’t take you.”
Bai Ruolin rolled her eyes. “Why can’t you take us? Isn’t the hospital in the county too?”
Qin Yunfeng glanced inside the car and saw that Zhang Guilan had fainted.
He quickly looked at Su Yi with concern. “What happened to your mother? Is she alright? Why are you the only one taking her to the hospital? I’ll go with you!”
Su Yi sneered. “Alright, get in.”
“My mother kept saying she felt dizzy and uncomfortable after she came back from your house yesterday. Then she fainted this morning.”
“It’s good that you two are going together. When she wakes up, go straight to you and settle the score. Did you bring money?”
Qin Yunfeng, who had already stepped onto the vehicle, immediately pulled his foot back.
Bai Ruolin quickly pulled Qin Yunfeng. “Forget it, if she doesn’t want to take us, then she doesn’t. Why say such scary things to us?”
Su Yi also rolled her eyes at them. “If you two keep clinging to the car and don’t let us leave, my mother will really be beyond saving. You can just wait for it then.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the two quickly backed away a few steps.
Su Yi curled her lips and shouted to the driver, “Uncle, let’s go.”
Actually, Zhang Guilan had already woken up when she was lifted onto the truck, but she was too embarrassed and pretended to be asleep.
Thinking that things were so chaotic at home, she didn’t have the mood to stay.
It was better to go to the hospital for a check-up, and it would also save her from being blamed by others.
Later, when she heard her husband and two sons stammering and refusing to pay, her heart sank.
She was in such a state, yet no one was willing to come with her.
In the end, it was the deadbeat girl she hated the most who followed her.
Thinking about this, Zhang Guilan not only didn’t feel grateful to Su Yi, but she also felt that all this bad luck was brought about by her return.
Just now, that boy from the Qin family was about to get on the truck.
She had to be so blunt and explicit about wanting money. How could he not be scared?
She blamed it all on her, because she could have saved a lot of medical expenses.
Zhang Guilan pretended to sleep the whole way, and she also cursed Su Yi in her heart the whole way.
Actually, Su Yi had already noticed that she was faking it when she got on the car.
Anyway, it wasn’t her money being spent. If she wanted to go to the hospital, then let her go.
It was a good opportunity for her to go to the county and continue to sell the things from her space.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the driver helped lift Zhang Guilan, while Su Yi pretended to shout for help.
When they saw the doctor, Su Yi quickly explained the situation.
“After experiencing a shock, she fainted directly and hasn’t woken up since.”
After examining her, the doctor also found it strange. “Her blood pressure is a bit high, but it shouldn’t have caused her to remain unconscious.”
Su Yi panicked, “Doctor, my mother won’t die, right? No matter how much it costs, you must make her wake up. If necessary, can you try giving her an injection?”
The doctor was at a loss, “We are western doctors here.”
Su Yi laughed awkwardly, “I was too anxious and forgot. Anyway, money is not a concern. As long as you can save her, it doesn’t matter how much it costs or what equipment you use.”
